Miyamoto knew that Sakurai was adding Rosalina to the SSB roster, so he added her as a last minute 5th playable character to Super Mario 3D World!

...I'm joking, of course, but it does make me wonder if something like that could happen or even HAS happened.

This is and has been my biggest fear regarding the absence of Kremlings in Tropical Freeze.

Granted, Retro started planning DKCR in April 2008, only showing off its first trailer at E3 2010. If I had to guess, they began development on Tropical Freeze earlier than early 2012 when Smash's started, considering they were set to show off "their secret project" at E3 2012 until it was yanked last-minute, to the great misfortune of Metroid/Star Fox fans who were convinced Retro was finally making a "real game." But still, the possibility is a haunting one...

It's cool to see and all, but I already guessed that would be his grapple.

What would be great now is if his Upward Throw was just "presenting" his opponent as a newly caught bug. Bonus points if each character comes with a special dialogue and horrible pun.

Villager's grapple looks interesting and fun. I'm wondering how far it will extend and if he'll get a tether recovery. If so, would it be the net or perhaps something else (like the fishing rod)? Although I think it would be cool if he uses the rod, who knows...

Edit: Hold up hold up. Is Yuga a guy or a girl? I'm seriously confused right now...

I like how Sakurai is showing off moves. The silly pictures might have been a little amusing in the beginning, but now that the game is really coming together I think Sakurai is feeling like a proud papa.

The net looks cool and flavorful. I like the direction this Smash edition is taking.

This might be weird to point out, but it seems that Rosalina is resized to a smaller height for 3D World. Normally, she's taller than Peach.

Rosalina remains far from a shoo-in, but given Galaxy and Galaxy 2's extreme popularity and iconic status, confirmation that she will indeed be a more lasting part of the Mario franchise gives her chance of inclusion in Smash a serious shot in the arm.

Two retros only, there is a limited amount of space and development in the team to add more than that, especially if the rumor is true that Mega Man, Villager, Wii Fit Trainer, Pac-Man, Little Mac and Mii are in, that would left only between 4 and 6 characters more to add, in that list would be Ridley, King K. Rool, Dixie Kong, Isaac, Palutena, Shulk, Chrom, Paper Mario, Mewtwo, Roy, Bowser Jr., Starfy and many more so it will be Takamaru and someone else.

Takamaru and Duck Hunt Dog are my retro picks...

Just love the idea of a hunting dog who fights by alerting the hunter of the prey (the opponents) and directing the hunter where to shoot (by pointing)... and the hunter does all the shooting from the fourth wall (the hunter is the person playing Duck Hunt)... and the dog sics ducks at the opponents... the hunter shoots the ducks down, dealing more damage to the opponent if they were near the ducks... and the dog throws clay pigeons at the opponents... the hunter automatically shoots the frisbees if they collide with the opponents... using ducks to fly away (recovery)... his trollface expressions and mocking laughter would be funny as hell...

If Duck Hunt Dog is playable, I would like trophies of Duck Hunt Dog, Ducks, Clay Shooting, the NES Zapper, and the marshland (remember how Melee had trophies of stages?).

Chrom was a newcomer, and for some reason, they wanted to keep a timeline consistency with Marth and Ike also being in the game, so the solution was that Marth and Ike were zombies.

After Pikachu, the other Pokemon characters were 4 Pokemon Trainers, each with different Pokemon, but they didn't make sense. One trainer, for instance, used Arbok, Kabutops, and Alakazam. And the Kabutops had a Mega Evolution. One of the trainers was Ike, who used Lucario, Blaziken, and himself.

2.) The roster included most of the newcomers I had hoped for, including Ridley, K. Rool, and Little Mac, as well as Skull Kid, with an announcement of a Majora's Mask remake for the 3DS.

I love the idea of Duck Hunt Dog. Always had, even when it was supposedly a joke suggestion.
However, my vote will always be for Mike Jones despite his chances.

Now, realistically speaking, I can see Takamaru getting in. And despite the Villager's recovery, I would've bet Balloon Fighter was important enough due to his plelthora of cameos in many Nintendo games, whole segment in Nintendo Land, and the fact that he appeared in Tetris DS (along with Popo, Mario, Link, etc)... However, the Villager kinda gives me the feeling he'll just be an assist trophy.

Therefore, the next in line for retro character after Takamaru could be...

...A screw it, realistic denial. Balloon Fighter, even if he's a last minute addition. But I don't think we'll have two retros, sadly..
