Sonic was basically rushed. Again, the main thing that goes against Sonic is that his attacks lack power, but it lacks too much power which makes him far too impractical. Even other speedy characters like Fox and Pikachu at least have some power to back up that speed. Which sucks because he does have some amazing potential with the Spin Dash and Spin Charge providing very solid approach and combos. Luckily, Project M greatly fixes up Sonic's problems.

I think Rosalina's chances, albeit relatively low, have definitely increased, but she is still at least 25% behind the big 3 contenders.

I was thinking of a Mario spin-off that bases off of Waluigi, it's sort Mexican-based (Like Squidward's mexican suit in the camp episode) with alot of crazy power-ups. I think Waluigi has potential to have his own game.

Yeah, I think she's always been slightly ahead.
Just more overall importance than Waluigi, although I think the rankings go something like this.

A Tier:
Toad
Bowser Jr.
Paper Mario
(No Specific Order)

B Tier:
Blue Toad
Rosalina
Waluigi

C Tier:
Daisy
Everybody else

Probably at this point after Sakurai has finalized the roster in summer, and if there are any games in development after the final roster was done, it's probably too late for them to get any representation in Smash Bros.

See, I used to consider that, but I think that Paper Mario is too similar overall to the Mario Universe to become its own series.
After all, it still stars Mario, while in the other series an ADULT Mario never shows up.

At best, any sudden deluge of requests will only lead to cameos like trophies or stickers. The requests mattered when the roster was still being considered back in 2012 when development was just starting. Anything that happens after that won't influence a lot.

I merely brought that up, because Paper Mario is portrayed as an RPG series, and RPG-exclusive Mario characters, such as Geno, Count Bleck, and Fawful, usually don't appear in the Super Mario series. The Paper Mario star spirits are a small exception, but they only appeared in one spin-off title.

On a side note, when I say the Super Mario series, I'm referring to the Mario platformer titles.

She could be planned still now that Sakurai knows of the Galaxy series, and possibly in time for Rosalina's playability in 3D World.

Almost forgot to reply to these-

Well, what Zero Suit Samus? The similarities between Paper Mario and Mario and Link Toon Link are quite different in my opinion.

And I agree.

ZSS is by no means similar to Samus while she is using the power suit. Link and Toon Link are quite different in personality, and equipment outside of Smash and have much different design styles. And their playstyle and moveset in Smash differing fairly as well.

I hope you're not implying that being a clone had any influence on the cutting of characters.

What I'm saying is that most of Melee clones were not nearly as important as most other characters, not for Brawl. IIRC Mewtwo was not high priority either, but Lucario was. Mewtwo was cut due to time constraints along with most of the clones.

Perhaps I shoudl've added that it's not unreasonable to think otherwise either.

*Could have the same height/weight ratio
*Both have a staff/rod

I see them occupying the same design space. A tall yet on the heavy side female with a staff/rod, a projectile, and defensive properties.

They can be made to be different. But I am not sure one offers much that the other one cannot cover.

FYI, Walunimportant can't have a move set unless you give him spin-off items. In other words, Daisy and Walunimportant have equal move set potential.

Sorry it's just the body structure is probably the thing I look at frst when it comes to comparing characters, I think it's pretty major IMO.

Honestly, i wont mind Rosalina being an alt costume if it also means she gets a voice change also. (And turnips turned into star bits)
