Hasn't Zelda already filled that spot, since she uses Light based magic.

She only has the Light Arrows, everything else is pure generic magic.

I'm not saying Palutena is extremely likely, but she definitely has odds in favor of her. I think she deserves to be in the game. The only problem standing in her way is if KI even gets another rep. It's possible, but I don't know. I'll still support her regardless.

Zelda's FS Light Arrow yes, but that's the only thing referring to light.
Palutena is incorporating light into her full moveset.

Her Jab, UpTilt, Ftilt, Fsmash, Usmash, Fair, Bair and Nair all seem light based to me.

Yes, I think it more to do with her new found popularity and revival with Kid Icarus Uprising. I don't really think it has anything to do with what is being represented in Smash Bros. Palutena will get in on her own merit, not because Kid Icarus needs a second "rep".

The only other options are KI:U originated characters and Medusa. Palutena being in all three games, and Medusa in two, IIRC. Palutena just seems to be the best option to help represent the series, since, Medusa may be the main villain for the first game, but wasn't as important in the rest. The KI:U characters have lack of spotlight in their way, when comparing to Palutena.

(This is a bit subjective so be mindful of that) When I think of Zelda's magic, it's more like sparkles and sparks of energy. When I think of a possible moveset for Palutena, her light attacks would be actual light, as seen in, say, her Boss Battle in KI:U. Like, pillars of light, streams and lasers of light coming out of her staff, etc.

I know it isn't valid or credible evidence, but regardless. What Palutena does won't be stealing from Zelda. Sure, they will both incorporate magic into their attacks, but there's nothing Palutena can do that would steal from Zelda. I mean, if Sakurai can't think of a light-based moveset, there's always the staff. That already puts her in a different league than Zelda.

Interesting opinion, but really Sakurai has close ties with KI now. I think it's a different situation from Krystal.

Yes, I am speaking more technically. Such as how magic essentially started as an art of healing, or it has more of a black magic origin in African history. So essentially most generic magic is based on Light or Darkness. However, we are speaking of a video game character, so the beginning of magic has little to no relevance. I still interpret Zelda as a character associated with Light Magic, but it is more energy based than Light based in Smash, so I suppose I agree with you.

Also remember that both Ike and Marth are sword users and they are very different. I'm pretty sure the similarities between Zelda and Palutena would be as small as that of the former two characters.

The difference is that Palutena has credible support, and is a best option for KI franchise. Krystal did not win out. We got Wolf instead. I see that makes sense, we have the hero, villain, and the sidekick over another minor member of StarFox. The reason Krystal's non-inclusion was so loud was because that fanbase is extremely loud, or at the time.

Palutena has been consistent, and there is no other character from KI that could "get in the way" of her appearance.

It's all based on the game of Hanafuda:

Jab Combo - Slashes with a card held in his right hand, then does the same thing with his left hand.
Side Tilt - Wide card swipe.
Up Tilt - Uses a bush-warbler as a sword to hit upwards.
Down Tilt - Swipes a poetry ribbon next to the ground.
Side Smash - Transforms into a boar and jumps forwards.
Up Smash - Transforms into a deer and jumps upwards, hitting with his horns.
Down Smash - Spins holding an umbrella in his hands.
Neutral Aerial - Spins holding cards in both his hands.
Forward Aerial - Commands butterflies to fly forwards.
Back Aerial - Commads butterflies to fly backwards.
Up Aerial - Puts a barrel of sake upwards.
Down Aerial - Attacks with a water iris downwards.
Neutral Special - Poetry Ribbon
Daitoryo swipes a poetry ribbon in front of him. If you hit the enemy, you grab them and can rotate the analog stick to spin them and deal damage. Pressing any direction throws the enemy.
Side Special - Cuckoo
Daitoryo throws a cuckoo forwards. The cuckoo deals damage to enemies and can be killed, but is very powerful if it hits an enemy. If you try to reflect it, you only knock it back a bit and it continues flying, eventually damaging you.
Up Special - Flight With Geese
Daitoryo holds a geese and flies upwards with it. You can control it as much as Snake's Cypher, and it rises at about the same speed.
Down Special - Frog
Daitoryo transforms into a frog and swipes his tongue, then returns to normal. This knocks enemies upwards and sometimes causes them to trip.
Final Smash - Chinese Phoenix
Daitoryo calls the Chinese Phoenix to the stage, then the Phoenix launches a lot of giant fireballs into the stage. These do great damage and are almost a one-hit KO.

We get Palutena if Sakurai deemed her character worthy, not because he thinks Kid Icarus needs two playable characters. The same goes for the rest of the series.

Not necessarily. It has more to do with Palutena's relevance and popularity along with be a unique character. I think most people assume that she is very likely based on the notion that she is going to be inherently at the back of Sakurai's mind (because Sora Ltd. developed Kid Icarus Uprising). It has little or nothing to do with Kid Icarus "deserving" a second rep. She offers something that not many other characters offer. Plus she has the popularity to back it. Not to mention the personality that would make people actually want her to be incorporated.

Oh I'm just talking about the original Brawl roster leak, when everybody flipped their **** at the idea of R.O.B, but no Ridley, K. Rool or the likes. Some even tryied to convince themselves that it was ROB64 from Star Fox.

So in other words: they thought R.O.B was a crazy choice, and then tried to believe that the newcomer was AN EVEN CRAZIER CHOICE?

Why would he be the next choice for a fourth Star Fox slot, anyway? Shouldn't it be someone like Slippy, Krystal, or Andross?

I think a character's personality can be incorporated into one of Sakurai's rules: Does the character want to make people play the game? In reality, a divine, green-haired, staff-wielding female bursting with personality would make people want to play the game.
