How is Kawashima extremely-unlikely? Not questioning you or anything, just want you to repeat your points.

Perhaps I should have toned down the rhetoric (my sincerest apologies, BluePikmin11), but I do consider Kawashima to be an unlikely candidate for the character selection process, simply because of these reasons:

1) He is not generally requested, especially in comparison to even other unlikely characters.
2) While the Dr. Kawashima character is only a representative entity of the actual real-life Ryuta Kawashima, there is still the complicated process of actually obtaining second-party permission from Kawashima himself. All this effort and energy could be placed into Pokemon, instead.
3) There's also the notable issue of whether or not Kawashima himself would take kindly to the idea of representing himself in a fighting game (as opposed to puzzles).
4) Concerning the difficulties of move-set potential for the character, there would have to be considerable thought processes put into such a design.
5) Brain Age could just as easily and effortlessly have stages, items, and trophies to represent the respective series itself, rather than just having a playable in-universe character (e.g. Nintendogs, Pictochat).
6) Kawashima seems more Assist Trophy (or backstage hazard) material, given his physical Andross-like stature (although being playable isn't out of the question).

I'm generally indifferent to the character, so I wouldn't mind its inclusion/exclusion.

If the Halloween reveal isn't a Luigi's mansion stage reveal, I'll be slightly dissapointed.

If we ever did get Andross, which dosen't that likely to me. I'd rather keep him as a disembodied head with floating hands. I mean who wouldn't want to play as a giant, robotic, mad scientist monkey head?

Luigi in his mansion with a vacuum cleaner or
...the Villager wearing the still bloody flesh of another character (thereby confirming that character unplayable; hopefully Little Mac: although we were already shown Villager wearing his chopped off hands and gloves like skin puppets)

Because I see hidden potential within Dr. Kawashima, it would bring a new popular franchise of a new genre, I think it would be very fun to play as a floating professor head using educational attacks like Word Surfing and math attacks. He's something very diverse from the rest of the Smash cast.

Edit: There's lots of new threads for characters lately, looks like creativity is never ending.

My opinion on that matter is that not every series needs a playable character.

I personally group several series into this, including (in my opinion) Starfy, Brain Age, Nintendogs, etc...

I don't really think Kawashima will be in. If he is, I won't be upset as long as other characters I wanted are in before him.

I think any series could lol. I mean I still think F-Zero and Zelda get the reveals for November, and I think we'll finally get Pac-Man, Little Mac, and Miis in December. I think it's fairly obvious we're going to get something when Nintendo has a Direct based on 2014 releases.

December...I don't know who we'll get aside from the Direct. But I do think we'll have around 23 characters revealed by years end.

I'm not too sure why Sakurai is letting off the reveal of those leaky three. Does it really take that long to implement their movesets in the game? Or is that the reason why there won't be much newcomers because of balancing.

It could be that they aren't in the game. I could see all three as possible characters, but by no means are any of them shoe-ins. Still, I would like to see pretty much any newcomer soon.

I really want someone to explain to me why he is not a possible candidate. Assuming that Mr. Game and Watch and R.O.B. were both historical characters, then we should be looking for another historical character. Daitoryo fits that role perfectly, doesn't he?

I believe Sakurai would accept Hanafuda as a possible character simply because how important it was to Nintendo and their beginning. I don't think many people realize that, and that's why they are debating.

Daitoryo is a possible candidate, but the problem with trying to predict these historic characters is that we usually only get one per game, and it's incredibly hard to predict them. No one even gave a second thought to whether R.O.B was a likely candidate for Brawl until the leak came about, and I'm sure no one in their right mind guessed G&W either. Furthermore, Wii Fit Trainer could also already have filled the WTF spot, and with us getting fewer newcomers this time around, we might not see more than one curveball character.

Gotta accept that when you support an obscure character that their chances will always be incredibly low, because there are always very few of them, and there might not even be anymore of them in this game after WFT's reveal. It's a risky character to put your faith in at least.

I feel confident it will be a Hanafuda character, it's really the most important thing of Nintendo missing from a Nintendo All-Stars.
Also there was a leak about R.O.B., I'm pretty curious to know.
