whatever. ok guys where are you capcom, konami, fire emblem, retro, pokemon, and b string smash rosters?

and don't tell me you didn't have time. i've seen you guys argue over piddly and make rosters like hotcakes. i wanna see 'em naow!

Great roster!
I would make a couple changes

Dixie over K Rool

Chrom over Ike or Tachtician (preferabley tactician)

And use those two empty spaces on the right to adds in a fourth third party rep, and N64. (Or maybe a random space instead of N64, even though N64 is one of the best character choices ever.

There is probably another thread to discuss gameplay changes I the roster.

But I think you are forgetting

Toad = deconfirmed
Also, I like Bowser Jr. better, my desiscion was not jar based on Peach's moveset with Toad.

And I am changes my roster to be a bit more risky.

As far as Toad goes, not having read all of the past few pages' worth of discussion, it's easy to see why Sakurai would pass on him yet again. Sure, Toad can be made unique, but he doesn't really fall in line with Sakurai's aim of having characters who "do someone that only that character can do." If he used leftover powerup items as specials and was "fast and strong" everywhere else (because people use that to justify generic standards), he's basically a duller Game and Watch and Villager. Granted, this isn't actually a knock on his likeliness, since Sakurai has lied about this very criteria with the likes of WFT (unless he's referring to her ability to shock people then gain their begrudging support like no other), but it's something to consider.

A bit unlikely, but rare to see and I certainly like the guy.

Overall a bit too safe for me personally, but the addition of Tetra/Toon Zelda and Goroh is rare enough to make things look different from the standard Roster Prediction roster.

Toad could be made unique if he was turned into a grappler-type fighter... Toad could pick up and carry opponents like in SMB2... grab opponents in the air like in SMB2...

Based on precedent, K. Rool is almost a gimme on a prediction roster, but recency bias (EDIT: and "gut feelings") tends to outweigh critical thinking on occasion. That, and it seems to have become a trend to make 'artistic' rosters, ignoring the 'prediction' aspect of this thread entirely in lieu of expressing oneself, or perhaps making a statement through leaving off likely characters and including random choices instead. I don't get it.

I love K. Rool, but Dixie is also very plausible. I choose Dixie over K. Rool not because of recency, or female parts, simply because it just feels like it is something that Sakurai and his team would do. I would say I would be fine with either of them, but I also hold a soft spot for Dixie.

I'd presume people defying conventions is for the sake of trying to be different. To be blunt, I like it when people try to be unorthodox. Seeing every single roster with RODLEH, PALETUNA, KAH RULE, CORN, etc gets tiring after a while.

The only time , as far as I know, that Sakurai explicitly stated that recency was a relevant factor was when deciding Pokemon characters, so why do people assume characters from other franchises, like K.Rool, won't get in based on recency, especially as we have Olimar confirmed?

For me, there's a difference between choosing a few shock characters for some added originality (and as a backup in case WFT isn't the only shock character included) and intentionally leaving off the three or four agreed-upon characters just for the hell of it. The latter isn't trying to be much of a prediction at all.

Seriously. People need to consider that not every character they suggest is great and that not everyone is going to agree. Especially when a 17 year old goes and starts cussing because he probably thinks it makes him seem more grown up. It's not. Grow up. If anything it's more annoying.

As far as the current topic, I think the reason people post all the same characters is because they are afraid to be wrong. I am kinda one of them. Predictions are whatever we want them to be, but they should be fairly realistic if we want it to be taken seriously (in b4 Kawashima, Harry, AND Tom Nook or some other left field character)

I don't think a roster has to be risky to be good.
Wii Fit Trainer and Villager are pretty much shock characters already, so that kind of gives us a free pass.
Takamaru will likely be a shock to those who don't know him.
3 shock characters right there. We're just so used to them that they don't surprise us anymore.

Even though I suggested those newcomer choices, there are still some characters that I did not include in my predicted roster because I feel they are not too likely (Duck Hunt Dog, Meowth, any Pokemon that were never playable in Smash before, Tingle, Impa, Captain N, King Hippo, Simon Belmont, Medusa, etc.) I feel it is still a decent roster overall and I think I could tolerate that roster.

K. Rool shall always out-prioritize Dixie because he is still the main villain, and as such, more important. Of coarse, that's only my personal point of view. K. Rool is also more popular as a choice, and would be more interesting as a playable character.

Chrom is definately more likely than the Tactician, but I still don't think he's the best choice. I consider Tactician a better choice for a few reasons:

- Debatedly more important in Awakening

- Represents a semi-recurring aspect of Fire Emblem

- Brings more to the table move-set wise with Magic capabilities

IMO, the only think Chrom has over the Tactician is that he's more recognizable to those who haven't played Awakening.

Also, those "empty spaces" are there because I just don't want to find a better way to organize it. I don't think I want to add any more characters. I may add Shulk and the random square if I feel like it.
