I much rather have Genesect than Zoroark too. Funny thing was that Heracross was the most requested second-generation Pokemon during pre-Melee, so a popular bug Pokemon can certainly happen.

I just hope Pokemon gets six slots.

On the 3DS... if any Rare character somehow made it in (which won't happen but isnt technically impossible), it would be Banjo & Kazooie... so... still none.

In regards to the whole Genesect/5th generation Pokemon ordeal, I wouldn't be surprised is Pokemon gets 6 or even 7 slots in SSB4. I mean, it nearly had 5 in Brawl, but who knows

I feel pretty sad that (Advance) Wars gets mentioned rarely when it has about an equally long history as Fire Emblem does. Fire Emblem can potentially get 3 characters, Kid Icarus is in the running for 2 and Advance Wars isn't even considered a candidate. All they really need is one good game to revitalize a universally praised series that had one bad game.
It's in the list of games like Golden Sun and Sin&Punishment where being added to a Smash game could go a long way to make the franchise more popular. Not getting in will only let it fall further into obscurity with potentially no new games for quite a while.

Between Days of Ruin never being released in Japan, and Solid Snake filling the token soldier role, I don't have much faith for Will or Andy.

BTW, here is a fifty character roster with some of the characters Chrono mentioned a couple of days ago, with some of the series Chu brought up.

Star Fox: 6%
Kid Icarus: 4%
Earthbound: 4%

Of course you can imagine how those numbers would change if a character was replaced.

Most people speculate that the boy and girl seen in the Pikmin 3 trailer are Olimar's son and daughter mentioned in the logs of the old Pikmin games.

As for Olimar Jr., it's generally believed the new protagonist in Pikmin 3 is Olimar's son, so hence the name [I gave the character]. Now, for why I'm hedging my bet on him. I'm sure you know about the new Pikmin types in Pikmin 3. Since I saw the new Pikmin I've been wondering how Sakurai is going to manage Olimar having even more Pikmin, especially when some of them [Rock/Purple] overlap in functionality, until I thought of something. What if Sakurai creates a second Pikmin character? It sounds preposterous, but think about it for a moment. What if "Olimar Jr." is the Luigi/Toon Link to Olimar? He would use all of the new Pikmin in addition to the original three colors, but his moves would be different, obviously. You and I both know "clones" are not as big of a deal as people make them out to be, nor is Sakurai opposed to a "clone" if they serve a purpose and are a good character. You need only look back at each installment to see that the Luigi's, Young Link's, and Wolf's were good characters; even if a minority did not. Well, I think this falls into this category, especially when Sakurai considered Pikmin the last major, character driven series by Nintendo apart from Animal Crossing and Nintendogs. The more I think about this choice the more it makes sense in my mind, even if the majority does not agree.

...At this point, Sakurai's going to have to gamble to expand the roster, especially when there only a handful of popular choices left. Sakurai's not above surprising people, which is why some of these choices make sense in my mind.

Sakurai cutting characters then reintroducing them as DLC seems to be a perfectly smart idea to me (*). Considering how universally beloved cut characters become -after- getting cut, there's no way this does not result in DLC being a massive success among Smash fans.

What's so funny, is we are not even post-trailer reveal yet, and already people are trying to do the whole "prophet" routine with this game. I can only imagine what will happen once E3 rolls around next year.

Paul Gale is batting 1/3. Yes, he got the PSABR thing right, but since then, he's been wrong about everything else ( Metroid X Star Fox, exclusive Wii U reveal, Retro's project). I don't know how he managed to get a legitimate scoop, but I can guarantee you he is not as much of an insider as he makes himself out to be.

Plus, here's why the Gamefaqs "leak" is fake:

There's a second Yoshi representative who has yet to be introduced and will apparently be appearing in a new game coming out soon that Nintendo asked to be included. The rumored Yoshi Land Wii U? It's apparently Yoshi's new partner another dinosaur character. The name "Debu" has been thrown around, but I'm not sure if that's it's name or a nickname since that just means "fat" in Japanese.

No one would be talking about Yoshi's Island Wii U if it weren't for that NeoGAF thread.

In hindsight I can actually see that happening now, and I kinda like the idea.

If you look at the active user box you'll see him every now and then, only hanging out in the Ridley thread though. Which is a Shame, the forum just isn't as Strong without him.

Looking back now, the thing I like about stages the most is that unlike characters there's way more opportunities to be liberal and get creative. Also music.

Here's my updated roster.

This is more of a wishlist really, this would be the ideal roster as far as I'm concerned, just rework most of the characters to make them nice and balanced and you got it.

Running an actual prediction roster through PS atm, I'll have it up in a jiffy, gold means favored want.

Well... more rumors are always fun to tear apart and over-analyze, I just wish this one wasn't so easy. When it starts with "I work/know someone who works at x" you know it's always good.

And lol at Nintendo having a Direct to go over the history of Smash with only a tiny bit of new info. There would be no need, nor logic, nor precedence to have a Direct focusing on games 14-5 years old just for the sole purpose of promoting a game that wouldn't have any content shown nor would release for like two years.

As for the character choices... seems pretty standard for someone who is making stuff up.

I ended up scaring that guy away when I started asking him too many questions about why his story does not pass the sniff test (each explanation he had was weaker than the last). I actually had private correspondence with one of the Brawl leakers back in the day, and that guy was much more humble about it and open to discuss anything than most of the fake leakers are.

I am thinking about making those private messages public when we finally get some real information about Smash 4.
