Join Rival Commons and Gorilla Games for a Saturday of Smash at the Wellington Mall!

The event will focus on Super Smash Brothers Brawl, but we will also have Super Smash Brothers Melee for veterans.

Please BYOC (Bring Your Own Controller). If you do not have one or forget yours, Gorilla Games will be renting out spare Gamecube controllers for $2.

TL;DR

■ 3 stock
■ 8 minute time limit
■ All items off and set to none
■ Pause Off
■ Team Attack On (For Doubles)
■ Life Stealing Allowed (For Doubles)
■ All matches will be best 2/3 (except for Grand Finals which is 3/5)
■ In Grand Finals, the player coming from the Loser's Bracket must win 2 sets of 3/5 games
■ Double Elimination
■ If time runs out during a match, Sudden Death will never be played

It went pretty well. We also streamed Apex on the TV in the back so everyone got to watch.

Rival Commons is intended to be a social networking tool for Palm Beach County's competitive gamers. It isn't something that's exclusive to Smash, Nintendo games, or fighting games, but that's just the community that we are working from currently. Basically, the goal of Rival Commons is to get gamers out of the basement to worthwhile events. I consider what Mazin has done with Gorilla Games a great feeder for Rival Commons in that it has mobilized a community. Most likely the first true Rival Commons event will have games like Brawl, Melee, Mario Kart, and Pokemon (the Pokemon tournament will not be DS-based, rather it will be done with PCs using Pokemon Online and a ruleset that allows any fan of the Pokemon series to play with the Pokemon they like and stand a chance. Message me if you'd like a full explanation or have your own thoughts).

Anyways, Rival Commons is a way to stay in touch with other local gamers and for those gamers to let organizers, such as myself, know what they want to see at events. Hope to see you guys the 28th!
