Ridleys appearance as a boss character ONLY

Until Petey has a theme tune posted, i'm going to assume that Ridley will be playable.Normally I'm all for Ridley.. in fact hes really the only reason i want to buy Brawl.. i want to kick my friends *** with him.. [ he usually uses samus ]
But.. now that weve found out about these "non playable bosses" like petey piranah.. im having second thoughts.. Obviously Ridley is 100% going to be a boss for samus in the subspace emissary.. what with his "boss theme music" and what-not. So this must mean that hes not playable right?
He'll be difficult for Sakurai to make a moveset for being so lanky.. and as everyone has said.. HE IS MASSIVE.. and look!.. the subspace emissary bosses are MASSIVE!.. :O and they use only a couple of menuvours to attack their opponents.
His chances to me.. just got slimmer
And since when was Petey Pirahna Plant the main villain of a massive game series? Since when did he appear in pretty much every game of that series ( not counting the **** sports games)?
Ridley's chances haven't been affected. If Ridley's a boss, so is Bowser.

Sorry, but comparing two different characters from two different games has no meaning whatsoever, so saying that Bowser is and always has been bigger than Ridley really has no truth to it. Sorry but that just fails miserably. My proof is Kirby. My other proof is that Samus on an 8 inch T.V. is smaller than Pichu from Colloseum on a 42 inch T.V.

I'm sorry that you don't see it. Size arguments are pointless in a more bland statement so that you can get it.
As for the Godzilla-sized Bowser, so what. Like I said, going from one gaming series to another to compare is completely pointless. Learn2Read.

Comparing size percent of character to enemy is not good either because Mario is like 4'5 and Samus is prob 7' or something but still
The T.V. thing was exactly my point, there is no point in comparing sizes because of so many variables. T.V.s are just an example.

But seriously. Guys, stop using the size argument. It's a trite argument. Do you know how tall Kirby is? Eight inches. Pikachu? 16 inches. Nuff said.
That's the point I've been trying to make. Unfortunately that dude doesn't seem to get it.

I like Ridley. I don't care whether he is in or out, but to say that he absolutely can't be in is ludicrous. Could anyone have predicted Pokemon Trainer? After him, we can assume nothing is off the table. That includes Ridley, AND Nook. (:

I've mentioned that character idea during a discussion with my friends 2 weeks before it was announced.
We even agreed that the 3 starters in Red and Blue should be characters all at once and we also discussed that Ash shouldn't be one throwing the Pokeballs.. but the generic character "Red or Blue" should.
I wouldn't be surprised if we see a Team Rocket character also wielding pokemon like pokemon trainer.
Anyway.. I support that Ridley should be a boss.
And also keep in mind Sakurai could also surprise us with a boss play mode which allows players to play as bosses like Master Hand and Giga Bowser. (Even if it seems unlikely, it is possible.)

Croco, I don't think Ridley should be a mere boss. If he's a boss at all, he should be playable.
Gosh, even though I don't like Metroid games I'd be disappointed if he was merely a boss... being degraded down there with Petey...

No, Red is the master. He's the final boss of G/S/C. Blue is only the 8th gym leader of Kanto.

I too believe it would be awesome to play as Ridley.. BUT.. I do not want him sized down.The n00bs can suck it. How can anyone take them seriously when their whole argument of whether or not a character should be in Brawl is based on their size according to different TV screens?
I have one good reason why he shouldn't be.. even though your still going to probably still think I'm a noob..
Ridley IS LARGE. HE IS 3-4 TIMES THE SIZE OF SAMUS. Ridley has been larger then Samus in ALL Metroid games except Metroid for the NES. Oh but wait.. Metroid: Zero Mission is a remake of Metroid on the NES. Then there is Meta-Ridley in Metroid Prime 3.. who also is 3-4 or more times the size of samus.
Now I'm not trying to say he is TOO big. I'm trying to say he has been known to be huge. Sizing him down to about the size of a normal space pirate is downsizing his character. Ridley will not be Ridley anymore. He will lose his "threatening, fierce, and evil character"
Arguments against me?
*"Ridley is about Samus's size in the Melee intro" (That is a intro video in Melee.. that is NOT CANON. Also is was a mere 1-2 seconds. It's also based off of Super Metroid because Ridley is holding the baby Metroid. In Super Metroid Ridley was 3-4 times the size of samus. And believe it or not it bugged me a bit that he appeared smaller in the intro video.)
*"Bowser changed size!" (Bowser is known to change size magically with his own power. Ridley has not been shown changing size in any shape or form in any Metroid game. Are there any magic mushrooms that change your size in the Metroid universe?)
*"Kirby is only a few inches tall and so is Pikachu. So Ridley can also be sized down." (There is a big difference when sizing down a character then sizing up a character. Also it really isn't noticeable because Kirby and Pikachu were submitted as characters supporting their franchises and did not at the time have other characters who are 3-more times larger sized down from their franchises as playable. Sizing down Ridley would be like sizing down Nightmare from Kirby and Palkia or Groudon from Pokemon. If you want me to give more examples.. I can.)

Dark Samus.. who which is also reappearing in Prime 3 is perfect.
Then there is also the characters from Metroid Prime Hunters.. Weavel is the perfect choice since he is a space pirate general.
There may even be a new character shown in Prime 3 which we do not know about yet which could be a playable character.

Exactly.. that is why the intro is a poor reason against how I feel about Ridley.
If Oilmar was in.. no one would even notice the size difference because he is from a different franchise/game universe.

He's huge.. About the size of Giga Bowser.
Fans are not making the game. I never have once said Alice or Alex Rovias WILL BE PLAYABLE IN BRAWL. Why? Because I'm not making the game and my wishes will not matter just like the Ridley fans. I might hope she is.. but that doesn't mean she HAS TO BE. So what are most of the fans saying about Ridley? HE HAS TO BE. Saying that is just foolish. And I have any right to wish Ridley will be only a boss. Though most of the time I'm always told I'm wrong. There is a big difference then HOPING then HAVING to.
HA.. he was on the poll.. big freaken deal. That does not confirm him as a shoe in or playable at all. It only meant Sakurai was recognizing the character's wanted appearance.
Why did Ridley look the way he did in Fusion? The developers used the same sprite from Super Metroid. Metroid Zero Mission? The style was drawn differently.. so of course his size changed.
The difference between Bowser and Ridley? Bowser has changed size visually more then once in a cutscene or gameplay in the Mario games. Ridley has never changed his size visually in one sequence in the Metroid games in neither gameplay or a cutscene. Bowser is also from a cartoon styled world.. Just like Kirby's world. (Big hands, big feet, etc.) Their legs and arms stretch and pull in a unnatural way. Samus is a human in a suit.. only magic from another game franchise can change her size.. (Super Smash Brothers breaks that rule because Mushrooms from Mario's universe are in the gameplay and the smash brothers universe.)

Olimar is appearing from his own franchise/game universe. Just like Kirby and Pikachu. He could be sized up.. If Olimar is a PC.. and if there is a character from his universe that is 3-4 times the size of him or more. That character will either be a boss or a NPC. That is of course that character has been shown to change size from that universe visually in some sequence. If so.. then they could be a PC.
Characters like Ray01 from Custom Robo or even Staffy work the same way as Olimar, Pikachu, and Kirby.
