not a real list, but from what i gather it involved sakurai replying to hundreds of posts and ridley was mentioned 4 times (equal second). dedede was first, i cant remember who else was second. some1 else will know.

edit: geno, ike and diddy were the other 3 who came in equal second. when you consider the support those guys have its a positive boost for good ol' riddles

Woot Ridley, he has a REALLY good chance of being in Brawl since they need to better represent the Metroid series and is one of the few in the franchise that could actually appear in the game. If he's in Brawl I will have tears of happiness.

Doesn't Ridley appear in the first Super Smash Bros. as well?
I remember reading it somewhere, but can't find it again. He was apperantly seen flying in the far back of the Metroid level now and again. I don't own the game to check, so was this true?

Yes, but Metroid Prime hadn't been released yet so Ridley was just a sprite. He's been in every game as a trophy/stage hazard/opening-only character. It was disappointing not having Ridley in 'Melee after the opening and speculation.

i still love fighting ridley in metroid prime. i remember reading the NP Power awards and ridley was awarded "Harder than College" and i was filled with fear when i realized i had to fight him next. he was a much better boss than Prime itself, and i look forward to fighting him in MP3 and playing him in brawl

Yeah, Ridley is one of the only exceptions in Metroid. Everything is usually completely new with no real tie-ins from the last games apart from Samus herself. Ridley deserves a bigger role dramatically though,, right now he's viewed as a monster.

one observation was that you fight him several times in prime 3, as they showed different pics of you battling him, with more energy tanks in one battle.

Well Metroid Prime is/will be in all 3 Metroid Prime games (excluding hunters), so Dark Samus could fit along those lines. And the Mother Brain was in two.
Mother Brain's room would make a sweet challenge in single player, like the Race to the finish levels. You could run through, dodging metroids and bullets, break thru the zebetites, then finish off the Brain.

that actually sounds like a sweet idea. maybe they should leave a super scope or any shooting item and you can shoot mother brain at the end. hey they should do that for every character, like in mario's you have to run across the bridge and grab the axe!

Yeah I know, I was really pissed when we only got the 'escape from the exploding planet' cliche that Metroid is know so well for in Melee. I wanted a normal adventure stage.

Im hoping for a more Metroid prime feel for an adventure stage, maybe inside the impact crater in mp1? where u have to take on those metroids that split in 2, then u take out metroid prime herself... just a thought

Maybe Ridley and DS will both have multiple battles with you and it could be possible the hunters help you in real-time instead of just cut scenes.

I can't wait till August 20th, one more reason to buy a Wii!

That'd be a Ragnarök of a Metroid boss battle. Ridley patrolling the air, shooting at you from the sky, Dark Samus pursuing you on the ground and nailing you. It'd be a good way to get DS out of the way.

I forget. I'd rather see a DS/Ridley fight with Samus caught in the middle than a team-up, to be honest. More realistic.

as far as i know, the space pirates were trying to find out what metroid prime was and it's power level. so my guess, if any of this happens, ridley finds DS and they battle, then Samus enters and all three attack. or something like that

i meant in corruption, not brawl. i dont want a hunter or DS in brawl.

i'm pretty sure that DS and the space pirates have an uneasy alliance in corruption. not positive though

yeah he did, but i cant blame him, i mean come on...they were trying to steal his phazon! ...i think. all i remember is seeing him pwn those three through that window before the elevator fight.
