I don't think it's the same in 'Fusion. It's the currently last game and Ridley doesn't even put up a fight.

Im guessin theres more than one ridley, or maybe they revive ridley everytime he dies or something, tough doubt hes dead <permanently> in fusion, Im sure we'll get a sequel sooner or later...

I dunno, it's more likely it's the same one but he just gets revived each time. A la Meta Ridley etc. There's also the history with him and Samus, which wouldn't matter if each one was different. He's also meant to be the last of his kind, so...

Hes INCREDIBLY likely, the best candidate for a metroid character, sinonomous (sp?) to the metroid series, is INCREDIBLY popular, is in the top 5 of sakurais list, and would make a totally interesting character, do I have to continue, or are u completely pwned by this?

1) ridley has wings bowser doesnt
2) Bowser has a shell ridley doesnt
3) Ridley would have multiple jumps, something bowser doesnt have
4) Ridley uses his tail as one of his main weapons, bowser doesnt
5) Bowser breathes fire, ridley fires more like a laser and greneade like attacks

My verdict:
Strider43= completely pwned and ********

I hope Brinstar Depths returns again. I love that level, there are so many possibilities. It'd also be nostalgic for Ridley/Samus matches.

I think Ridley would better fit in for a boss fight.
But the game could need some more heavy characters to play, at least if they balance them right.

I have a moveset for Ridley... it's just the B attacks, because the A's will all be the same. Kinda.

Anyway..


B: Plasma beam Kinda like Master hand's hand laser, but only one of them and it randomly flicks about the stage for as long as you hold B. Automatically stops at about 10 seconds, but with large lag. If hit once, then 6%. If you are caught and cant move from the beam, your damage will go up in 6% for the length of the attack.

Smash B: Lunge Like in Metroid Prime, he will lunge, claw you, and whip his tail. The tail has quite large range. It will kinda be like Marths smash B, where you have to press B at the right time to carry the attack on. Could be used as a side recovery. Lunge does 10%, claw swipe does 8% and tail does 12%

Down B: Tail stomp Like in I think Zero Mission, where he pogo's around on his tail. Maximum 5 bounces, and you can jump off whenever, allowing to reach heights and quickly recover from the attack, with no lag. If the bounces connect with somebody, it does 8-10% damage.

Up B: Glide Spins around upwards with his wings curled against him, and then spreads him to glide down, like Peaches parasol, but faster falling and can only glide in the direction he is facing, unlike peach when you can change direction whenever

Took quite a bit of time to come up with this so take that into consideration.

In the metroid games ridley is a giant space pirate robot that is 20x the size of samus

There is a higher chance that gigabowser is an alt color we can choose.

When i see that "NEW COMER, RIDLEY" ill shut up and admit i was wrong, till then you guys need to *** off.

Rofl. Ridley is currently my most wanted character for Brawl; i'm going through a metroid phase atm. I want to play as Ridley, simple as.

Ridley is too big. flamethower just like bowser. flying most likely like kirby and metaknight. attacks with head and tails much like mewtwo and yoshi.

The result is more than the sum of it's parts. Take 3-4 low/bottom tiers, take parts of them, and mash them together, and we've got what some argue may be a god character.

Well nerf him.

- You could make him a floaty character and easier for chain grabs and air comboing ect
- His shield wouldn't cover his head and open to whatever it's called
- No up B recovery ( which would make more sense than giving him a move to gain more height)
- Make him very slow on the ground with large lag for his attacks

These could make him more balanced, and a more advanced character, as he would be best used in the air.

I always felt that the fact that Ridley is really quite lanky, therefore pretty lightweight, and the fact he'd be a pretty huge target as he's bound to be one of the bigger characters in the game already gives a huge disadvantage. Chances are he won't get a b^ move for recovery and instead gets multiple jumps. He can still be fast and powerful this way, as he would have appauling durability for such a big target to offset that.

Plus it's kind of hard to nerf a character that isn't in yet (or at least not that we know of).

Ridley can be resized, check bowser from SM64 and beyond, hes way bigger than mario, yet hes just a tad bigger in melee, u cant really consider bowsers size in the 8- and 16-bit era, i mean there wasnt much u can do...

Ridley is too big? cmon have u EVER seen the melee intro? that size of ridley would be perfect, maybe just a tad smaller, no one will complain, i like to use something called imagination, u?

also kirby has infinite jumps in his games, thus he in melee? now, just give ridley major weight and 3-4 multiple jumps and that will do...

Last time I check Kirby was like, 8 inches tall. He's obviously more than a foot tall in Melee and Brawl so I don't think Ridley's size will be a problem. Plus they have a smaller ridley in melee's intro.

Plus how can Ridley relate to Bowser when Ridley has wings and a tail? You're just going to ignore that? If so, you fail at the highest level.

Bowser was a good 4-5 times bigger than him in the platformers. They scaled him down.

Kirby was about 8 inches tall. They scaled him up.

G&W was no set size, but they made him right.


There's nothing to stop them doing that with Ridley. As somebody said, they scaled him down for the intro, they can scale him down for the game.

They can make him a big character if they must, so it doesn't make him a god character. I've explained how to make sure he doesnt become a super tier character.
