I have been recently trying to "think outside the box" and trying to better and expand our tournament scene here in the Valley and I came across the idea of "googling random ****"


So I decided to google "Smash Mexico" first and "Brawl Mexico"... I FOUND EPIC RESULTS... a ton of NON-SMASHBOARDS related Mexican Smash communities.


YES, WHAT WE NEED, SMASH TO COME TO THE RGV NOT JUST FROM AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!


NOW, I decided to try Tampico (Monterrey was my next one) since I have family in both those cities and they are near Matamoros (Monterrey = 3 hrs ish Tampico like the distance of Houston). So I google Tampico Smash

AND BAM


I FIND A HUGE SITE DEDICATED TO AN ENORMOUS TAMPICO SMASH SCENE.

Yes, the place me and Vickey always grudgingly vacation to hosts MONTHLIES!!!!!


and, for almost a year now, they have been HYPING UP A NATIONAL.


YOU GOT THAT RIGHT, THERE WILL BE A NATIONAL DURING CHRISTMAS BREAK IN TAMPICO WHERE ME AND VICKEY WILL BE COZILY SPENDING OUR VACATIONS AWAY.

If you guys didn't get it, Mexico is not as butt-tight as the US. PEOPLE THERE WILL TRAVEL, BECAUSE TRAVEL IS CHEAP IN MEXICO!

TAMPICO is travel distance to Matamoros! WE CAN SERIOUSLY START BRINGING PEOPLE IN FROM MEXICO TO THESE TOURNAMENTS, IT CAN HAPPEN.

WE CAN MAKE RGV TOURNAMENTS HUGE, AND NEGROS FROM ALL OVER THE PLACE WILL TRAVEL TO US. AND THESE PLAYERS ARE GOOD, I WAS IMPRESSED WITH THEIR VIDEOS.


In fact, they have BADASS ideas for tournaments. They base their tournaments on "Socializing" and "hanging out" and less on "I'm going to **** you" and "money".

In fact, they have SO many fun side events and usually their tournaments are two days long.

Their side events include "Dittos" doubles where you sign up with your partner as a character ditto and stick with it the whole tourney.

For example me and Vickey sign up as Snake & Snake, Pax / Broly Marth & Marth, Vash & Cloud as TOON LINK TOON LINK, etc.

I saw the GF's of that tournament and it was Pika / Pika vs Marth / Marth. lol

IT looked like a whole hell of fun, and they always had Tacos and parties AFTER.


THAT'S THE **** WE NEED TO LEARN FROM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and last but not least...

I need to talk to him because if he doesn't I'll probably throw two small tournies in a row. Our next big tourney will probably be in February 2010 as the 1 year anniversary of the RGV crew and Brawlfests and I'll probably throw minor tournaments from here to there a couple of times.
