Revisiting the idea of polishing current character changes

In spirit of our recent travels toward "doing things long overdue" with attempted game mechanic changes, we should also revisit individual character changes and go through the process of tweaking them.

Now there have been several attempts to rally a movement to make this sh*t happen. It however more than likely has not and with how everyone in the WBR is busy in one way or another, at any time or another...

well, it's obvious that such a thing would probably not be done for a while.

However, the idea of the WBR Hub, and giving the public an outpost for more voice as well as more err...connection with the WBR seems to be a definite.

Why not allow this topic to be among the first for discussion on the WBR Hub?

We could do a character a day at least, a week at most (or however we want to), post up the latest changelist, and let them argue their point(s).

It will be stressed that completely removing the change would be a last resort. Ideally the premise for the change will remain unaltered, but the execution will be more effective, being either more or less of what it currently is.

The organizational mess of the latest GSH1 might make this difficult since the changelist isn't exactly...clear...or precise however. Although it's in our ability to sort that out.

Another really obvious problem is of course bias/ignorance/moar bias that goes into deciding what happens to character X. Rather, how much of public word should be considered? We all also know bias will happen regardless; even amongst ourselves this will happen; actually it has happened several times.

Besides there is not a rep for every single character in B+ in the WBR I'll assume, and some non-WBR members already have a huge influence on what affects their characters anywho.

We really aren't running on any sorta deadline for B+. Or rather, because we lack incentive, deadlines don't matter too much. Regardless, the notion that we should make this the best game it can be with the available tools, no matter how long it takes, is one most of the community shares anyway...at least that seems to be the case. You can't make everyone happen, but we can well **** try.

So...how about it? =V

I want to perfect the throw game. I get closer to knowing exactly how to do this every day. I've even made suggestions that literally none of you have really commented on (only Cape has actually acted on my recommendations, I even got a new Link.pac from him, but he isn't here now so :( ).

I agree on this. All previous changes need to be looked at and talked about.

Many changes were made before we had the ability to make the kinds of changes we can make now.
We need to look at all of them to see what exactly has been done to each character and why.
I think maybe...3 characters a week is good, simply because some people will be completely uninterested in some characters.

Sounds like a plan. I think most changes got reevaluated as our tools improved (about the only exception was moving to PSA/brawlbox, but that's because we already were capable of general hitbox modification), so I expect most stuff to check out. There may still be some remnants of changes long forgotten about, or some things we might be able to do better with say... multiple hitboxes now instead of just enlarging a hitbox. So yeah... let's do it.

What? I know I haven't said anything about any specific throws, but did I not completely agree with you about making all throws have a minimum standard of non-badness?

that you did. I need PSA help actually, I'm really inexperienced with it given how I can't use it often. I really want to start pumping out .pacs with the modified throws for people to try. Help tomorrow night maybe?

I've got a good idea of what to do with about half the cast's throws at this point, I just have to work up the motivation to put up that wall of text ;p

Heh. Alright. I may or may not have a ton of time to work on brawl+ starting tomorrow. It depends mostly on how much I feel like doing other stuff that I haven't been able to do in ages now that I'm finally gonna have a frick-ton of time off.
