Hmm, for those confused about why Rayquaza attacked, may I propose a theory:

In Destiny Deoxys (a Pokemon movie), Rayquaza attacked Deoxys out of being territorial/protective when it arrived, so perhaps the same happened here?

I actually think that Fox's arwing, after falling through the skies from being downed by the Halberd, slammed into Rayquaza which fell into the lake. Diddy Kong, being separated from DK and hearing the crash, goes to investigate. He sees the Arwing and approaches, but Rayquaza rises from the lake in anger and attacks the already damaged Arwing in "vengeance". It grabs Diddy thinking he is involved with the Arwing, and we know what happens afterwards.

So I agree with the user that said that Rayquaza is probably confused about all this and was just defending itself. But, Sakurai refers to it as evil somehow, so it may also just be part of the Subspace Army...
Yea, I agree with this. IMO there is more to this story to explain why Ray in under water.

Why does Rayquaza have to be controlled...it's not like he was much of a good guy. He acts more like a violent monster
Ray surely isn't a bad guy in the games seeing as he spends all his time flying high in the sky (eating only water varpers) and only comes down to eath to, ya know, stop the other two legendary pokemon from blowing up the world.

I think he could be being controled (maybe by Mewtwo or the SSE dude) cause "evil" isn't something that really suites him.

He sure wasn't be controlled or anything when he blew up the city just to fight with Deoxys who wasn't interested in anything other than finding that other Deoxys...

...He sure didn't care either

1. Thats anime. . . :ohwell:

2. Did he try to kill anyone other than Deoxy who was a space virus intruding on his sky home? There wasn't a "bad guy" in that movie. Deoxy only took people and put them in one spot so that he could find his friend and Ray was only protecting his home from some space invader virus pokemon. . . .neither was doing "evil" things.

He may not be evil, but he's no good guy

Maybe.....

Fox is actually the evil one (being manipulated or mind-controlled and Rayquaza was just trying to protect Diddy... eh?

They just got lost in translation: the gigantic roar meant, "NICE TO MEET YOU!"

oh and i don't think he'll be a boss simple because he gets knocked backwards from his own blast.

Ya know, maybe it was just a low level Rayquaza or Fox has a really high power level
FOX'S POWER LEVEL IS OVER 9000!!!

...Sorry, couldn't help it. Anyway, it'd be neat if you fought Rayquaza in the Sky Tower from Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald or Sky Pillar for Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. Not that it's that likely. You'd probably just fight him on the lake.

Well lets see what the games say about him. . .
http://64.72.117.249/pokedex-rs/384.shtml

Basicly
Rayquaza lived for millions of years, feeds on water in the atmosphere and he never ever evr comes down out of the ozone layer unless KYO and Gro fight...and does 2 don't like each other (after their last fight they slept for years on in).

No, he aint evil. . . .but one could say he is a good guy who stops the two legendary beast when they fight seeing as thats the only reason he would have to even come down from his ozone layer home.

I wanna know why Diddy was unarmed. What happened to his CIA operative PP-7 coconut pistols?

And Fox never looked soooo good! Rayquaza too. I look forward to facing him as a boss. However, I got to say that that whole incounter with Rayquaza in a common lake wasn't epic in the least. I mean, couldn't the surroundings been a bit more stunning? It would have been awesome if like Sky Pillar emerged from the lake and then Rayquaza made his appearance. Just sayin...
