Rosalina is just "that new Mario princess" to me.
It is kinda relaxing to me when I do have to draw characters that are not super detailed. I once thought that for both Rayman and Ridley, but now I draw them both quite nicely and easily, apparently. xD Both still needs work with expressions, Andrea may say otherwise, but I look to her for inspiration for that and her art in general. :3Rayman is a very fun character to draw. I love drawing characters that are simple in design.
Are there any info on what the scrapped Nymph did to make some comparisons? Otherwise, I'd just think very convenient hairstyles. xDBTW guys, just for lols, here's something that I just realized recently:
The scrapped nymph from Origins:
Now look at this:
Phosphora from Kid Icarus Uprising:
...... Notice the similarities there?
Bu that's just because I have practice with them for YEARS....and I still have to practice even more, even if I draw them nearly every day...well...at least in Ridley's case...It is kinda relaxing to me when I do have to draw characters that are not super detailed. I'd show more art, but it's not Rayman so it'd be off-topic. I also don't really have much art to show...And yeah, I'd love to see you draw Rayman and such, really anything you'd draw, I like to see others drawings. ^u^
You did a good job with Rosie, even if it's those moments of, "Wow", as I had those myself as well. xD But yeah, I hope to see you draw more stuff sometime. :3
I blame the lack of limbs. I already have enough trouble drawing anything other than a standing position, but Rayman's lack of legs always gets me. "Wait, his foot doesn't look right, does that position make sense?" I like his new look because it's pretty much his Rayman 3 design but streamlined, the hair looks better, the shoes aren't Sonic Adventure 2, etc.I had trouble drawing him too! D: I still need to get better with him...but I love to draw his R3 look the most...I think I have only drawn Legends/Origins Ray just once...
I meant that in a good way, I like princesses. Plus space is awesome. And she's cute and stuff.
Sadly, not much is known about said scrapped nymph, but due to the flight stewardess outfit, she may be involved with flight related powers, but since that role is taken by Holly Luya, she might have something to do with the weather, but that's a wild guess. Are there any info on what the scrapped Nymph did to make some comparisons? xD I have to draw sketch lines that look like limbs to being able to give him a pose at times....And the hair looks a bit messy and his colors are kinda pale in comparison to R3...since I don't play too much Sonic, I still prefer his sneakers than how they look in Origins...I'd show more art, but it's not Rayman so it'd be off-topic. I also don't really have much art to show...
Funny enough, I started with Peach but was frustrated with a particular part of the image (which I've drawn about five times over now) and decided to move on to Rosalina, and this picture literally just fell into place, everything came out right for once. I even made the background solely because I was so happy with the picture that I wanted something nice to frame it.

Maybe I have trouble because I'm trying to draw his new design and have it look as serious as he did in Rayman 2...
I meant that in a good way, I like princesses. Plus space is awesome. And she's cute and stuff.
I guess so. But, at least I can learn from you for help, you do them so well. :3Bu that's just because I have practice with them for YEARS....and I still have to practice even more, even if I draw them nearly every day...well...at least in Ridley's case...
I can understand that. When it comes to making sure he's proportioned to scale with his body parts, you got to make sure it's in the right spots and such. But when it comes to his design, I really enjoyed R3's the most, R2 is like a more serious and less bug eyed R1, and Origins...I don't hate it, but I have a strong connection to R3's sooo much.... But maybe I should give the other designs some attention sometime...I'd show more art, but it's not Rayman so it'd be off-topic. I also don't really have much art to show...

Huh, well that seems interesting...Sadly, not much is known about said scrapped nymph, but due to the flight stewardess outfit, she may be involved with flight related powers, but since that role is taken by Holly Luya, she might have something to do with the weather, but that's a wild guess.
Now Phosphora, she's obviously related with the weather, namely lightning, and with flight. Besides the hairstyles, they both wear blue related clothing.
Go ahead, I'd like to see that. :3Now I'm really tempted to ask someone to draw Phosphora Rayman Origins style. :D
I have the exact same problem with Rayman and other characters. A way to make it easier I find is to draw the limbs in the sketch and erase them later.I blame the lack of limbs. I already have enough trouble drawing anything other than a standing position, but Rayman's lack of legs always gets me. "Wait, his foot doesn't look right, does that position make sense?" She's MY waifu, so don't get any ideas, mister! And she's cute and stuff.
Actually, his hair is my favorite thing about his new design. I like how it actually looks like hair. In Rayman 1, it was kind of flat, and Rayman 2, it kind of just looked like part of his head, in Rayman 3, it looked like plastic, I like it best how it is now.xD I have to draw sketch lines that look like limbs to being able to give him a pose at time....And the hair looks a bit messy and his colors are kinda pale in comparison to R3...since I don't play too much Sonic, I still prefer his sneakers than how they look in Origins...
drawing Rayman as the most serious thing ever is easy with R3 and R2, even with the old design, but Origins...he looks too "comical" for me to drawing him serious...
Rayman 3 is my least favorite of the franchise (Rabbids notwithstanding). Rayman 1 was the first game I owned, and Rayman 2 is my second favorite game ever (behind Banjo-Tooie). Rayman 3 is a good game, but it's easy to tell that Ancel had nothing to do with it (he's even said that he would have made the game differently). Between 3 and O/L, the design barely changed at all, but his new one just looks more pleasing to me, like R3 was a rough concept and O/L is the finished design.I can understand that. When it comes to making sure he's proportioned to scale with his body parts, you got to make sure it's in the right spots and such. ..I seem to be in the minority here in regards to Rayman 3. It's kind of the Nuts & Bolts of Rayman for me, honestly. In terms of design, I prefer to draw the Rayman 3 style, since that's my favorite Rayman game, though I do find myself drawing Origins/Legends Rayman more and more.
More than one waifu will ruin your laifu. She's MY waifu, so don't get any ideas, mister!
Maybe...
I have to totally agree with that. That's actually what I wanted to see changed for Rayman, that hair being so flat made him look "classy" to me.Actually, his hair is my favorite thing about his new design. I like how it actually looks like hair. In Rayman 1, it was kind of flat, and Rayman 2, it kind of just looked like part of his head, in Rayman 3, it looked like plastic, I like it best how it is now.
That I can see too, but that's actually why I don't really favor it, it's simple, but it seem to lost some charm because it's going back to the classics. But it's anyone's opinion.I like his new sneakers because they resemble his originals, and they're simple. That's why I made the SA2 comparison.
Hmm, well, not like in R2 and such, maybe even R3, but I guess so. He seems to be more silly and crazy at times though.New Rayman can look serious, just look at the boxart of Legends.
I heard this a lot, besides the Nut's n Bolts comparison, but it's no big deal. R2 is my second best Rayman game, despite me likeing R3 more. And yeah, the lack of seriousness from R2 maybe a turn off for some, but I didn't mind it much, I kinda felt it worked a bit better. But to each their own.Rayman 3 is my least favorite of the franchise (Rabbids notwithstanding). Rayman 1 was the first game I owned, and Rayman 2 is my second favorite game ever (behind Banjo-Tooie). I can definitely see how Rayman 3 could be seen as the black sheep of the platformers. The jump in tone from Rayman 2 to 3 was very jarring. I personally prefer 3, but if we had a game with the tone of 2 and the gameplay of 3, it would be the perfect Rayman game in my eyes...I seem to be in the minority here in regards to Rayman 3. I should try to do Origins at some point, see what I can make out of it. But yeah, for now, I should focus on R3 once I get the expressions for it right and such.I mean, when it comes to explore Ray's world, I prefer R2, but I like the fighting and artstyle of R3.
.U. Not serious enough for me...

Maybe I should draw Origins Ray more often...but for now, I will keep doing R3 the most.
Well his new shoes definitely have their own style, I just like how it's a simple shape without that weird back edge part that they had in Rayman 3. I do like how Rayman is portrayed in Legends, he was a bit too... eh, in Origins, but they toned it down for Legends. Rayman really fits as a silly kind of character that can still be serious when the time calls for it. Globox though...That I can see too, but that's actually why I don't really favor it, it's simple, but it seem to lost some charm because it's going back to the classics. But it's anyone's opinion.

Actually, it was the gameplay that turned me off the most. I actually didn't mind the tone shift (fourth wall breaking is my kind of humour as well) and it only really lasted the beginning of the game, the rest of it was mostly serious barring the doctor visits.I can definitely see how Rayman 3 could be seen as the black sheep of the platformers. I can really agree with at, honestly. It's been years since I got to play those games honestly, so I guess somethings didn't bother me much back then in R2 to R3...And like Andrea, although to some extent I got kinda tired of this by the end of it, the adventure feel was honestly better handled in R2 then in R3 I will admit, but but the end of R2, I think I got so tired of the backtracking for things I missed and the constant difficulty flux I keep going through at the time. I still love the game, but some of it I got a meh feeling towards by the end of it. I didn't really get that feeling in R3, but I guess it was because it was more linear then 2.Well his new shoes definitely have their own style, I just like how it's a simple shape without that weird back edge part that they had in Rayman 3. The shift in focus was what really got me, in Rayman 2, you went on an adventure collecting Lums to piece the Heart of the World back together and defeat the pirates, there were even parts with backtracking. In Rayman 3, the combat was really good, but the mindless score system in place of collectibles that actually had value and the general structure of the game really put me off.
Rayman 1, 2, and Origins all gave you "new" powers that you could go back and use in earlier levels, Rayman 3 had rigid level structures that just didn't feel like a Rayman game to me, and you only got one "power." The cans were neat, but the gimmick of only being able to use them for short amounts of time in specific situations killed off any interest I had in them.
The perfect new 3D Rayman for me would pretty much be Rayman 2 with 3's combat. He needs the energy sphere though.
Ah, it's just a matter of liking different kinds of games. Rayman 3 was way too linear for my tastes, and my preferred genre is "3D platformer that you can run around in ALL the directions and collect ALL the things." One of the best things about Rayman 2 for me was "I'm missing one Lum in this level... time to look in every corner" only to stumble upon a secret entrance to an area I had never seen, stuff like that. Rayman 3 was just "yeah, here's some bad guys, kill them, repeat ad infitum, reach end of level." The only secret spot I can remember in Rayman 3 was a useless room with statues of the robo pirates and some extra points.I can really agree with at, honestly. But all and all, I have to agree to mostly what you said, as you do make a point...And yeah, R2 mixed with R3 would be the best though...
As someone who loves collecting things in games, I never really thought of that. Rayman 3 is definitely more linear than 2, but at the same time, I don't really mind. I love Rayman 3 for what it was, I can see why you and many other's prefer Rayman 2, and if I played that first, I probably would too. I don't mind linear games myself, but for someone whose the explorative type, I can see that as a problem.Actually, it was the gameplay that turned me off the most. Actually, the more I think about it, the more I remember disliking about it. I'd better just stop now, I do still like the game.
But yeah, my ultimate dream Rayman game would be open world, tons of stuff to collect that isn't just point fodder, the combat of Rayman 3 made less repetitive (also give Rayman the ability to both punch and shoot energy spheres), Globox not being a complete idiot, Ly and others coming back (Betilla came back, and that was far more of a stretch), an actual story... Etc.
...If only.
Speaking of Bear and Bird...So you like games like "collect-a-thons?" Like Banjo & Kazooie and such?
Speaking of Bear and Bird...
That's enough FNAF jokes for the century, NOT!
Alright, you guys have all heard about this?

Yeah, playing one game first can definitely leave someone with more nostalgia for it. Though that's never been a problem for me, personally. I genuinely enjoy the other Rayman games more from a design standpoint, with no nostalgia hindering me.As someone who loves collecting things in games, I never really thought of that. Rayman 3 is definitely more linear than 2, but at the same time, I don't really mind. Banjo-Tooie is my favorite game of all time, followed by Rayman 2 as my second favorite. The Banjo franchise is my favorite, the genre is my favorite, I've been devastated that it's been pretty much dead for over a decade. Which is why...So you like games like "collect-a-thons? Like Banjo & Kazooie and such?
This was the greatest news ever to me. This is the single greatest thing that hasn't even happened yet in many, many years. This is better than any character getting into Smash, the only way this could ever be topped is if Banjo himself came back to Nintendo. As amazing as Rayman in Smash would be, it's just nothing compared to the revival of a kind of game that's been long dead, from the very people who made the absolute best. This is a giant part of my life coming out of the grave and pulling my heart up.
Banjo is dead... I'd rather him stay a cherished memory than for M$ to continually abuse him. Imagine if Rayman had never left the Rabbids...Jumped.
And yeah, we got some news sent over into our Ridley group earlier...I kinda wish they just make Banjo Kazooie in their prime again....but I guess this will be the "Mighty No. 9" of Banjo I guess...
Yes, Ex-developers from Rare. Sounds awfully similar to something, but I can't really put my fingers on it.From the very people who made the absolute best.
Whatever makes the fans happy. I never played any Banjo game ever, but I see it before and it's sequel, and I liked it a lot. But ending off with that, that might have been why I catered to R3 so much as much as I did, because of the collect-a-thon nature of R2. R1 was my first Rayman game, and although I haven't beaten it, it's too damn hard by the end of it, I loved it a lot, my best 2D game on PC. But not my favorite 2D of all time, that's Sonic, and will stay that way. But I think since I basically grew up on "linear" type of games and like the only kind of games that was based solely on exploration and collecting was Wind Waker/Twiligh Princess and Rayman 2 itself. I don't have such a horizon of games like this, so now I can see why by the end of R2, I was tired of it. I loved it so much from everything I experienced, 100% it proves that. But by the end of R2, I was done with it, and never played it ever again. R3 I believe I got to play through more then once, because I can go through it without getting burnt out, but now I can see why you care more into R2 for that reason...Yeah, playing one game first can definitely leave someone with more nostalgia for it. Though that's never been a problem for me, personally. I genuinely enjoy the other Rayman games more from a design standpoint, with no nostalgia hindering me.
For example, I played and loved Ocarina of Time as a kid, but only played Majora's Mask a long time later. I absolutely love Majora's Mask and find it to be more enjoyable experience, it's also my third favorite game ever while OoT isn't even my third favorite Zelda (I even enjoy Twilight Princess more, despite a lot of people not liking it for whatever reason).
Banjo-Tooie is my favorite game of all time, followed by Rayman 2 as my second favorite. The Banjo franchise is my favorite, the genre is my favorite, I've been devastated that it's been pretty much dead for over a decade. Which is why...

I love all sorts of games, but I love the specific Banjo formula. Even without Banjo, the gameplay... the gameplay.
Banjo is dead... I'd rather him stay a cherished memory than for M$ to continually abuse him. Imagine if Rayman had never left the Rabbids...
As long as M$ still holds Rare, this is the greatest thing that can possibly happen.
Sonic Boom screwed up because of how they managed developing the game (ending up using a alpha build because the beta was too unstable) and that everyone basically abandoned the project by the end of it. They're not a bad game development team, but things screwed up by the end of it.Yes, Ex-developers from Rare. Sounds awfully similar to something, but I can't really put my fingers on it.
Just saying.
Are you insinuating that these are even remotely comparable?Yes, Ex-developers from Rare. Sounds awfully similar to something, but I can't really put my fingers on it.

Although the cut veterans make sense, I agree that Ray and Rids needs to be higher...But at least he's there...Pardon the double post...
I'm sure most of you have already voted on this, but I just noticed something very pleasing. Rayman is sitting at a comfortable 10th place, and is the second highest third party on the list (behind only Snake, and far ahead of Bayonetta, thankfully).
1. Wolf 240
2. Ice Climbers 228
3. Lucas 218
4. King K. Rool 196
5. Isaac (Golden Sun) 181
6. Snake (Metal Gear) 181
7. Ridley 167
8. Dixie Kong 164
9. Ganondorf with a Revamped Moveset (replacing his existing one) 155
10. Rayman 151
The ultimate goal would be 200+ votes, but I think we could at least catch up with our buddy Snake, eh?
Sadly, with Ridley being a stage hazard that Sakurai apparently thinks we all wanted, he probably won't ever be DLC. Unless Sakurai pulls a "Super Metroid Ridley/leave Pyrosphere to Alfonzo," but I'd put more hope into Smash 5 and a new director. It's still great to see him so high up though, so even if Sakurai makes the next game, he might give in. Hopefully. Maybe. Please.Although the cut veterans make sense, I agree that Ray and Rids needs to be higher...But at least he's there...
Yeah, same. I was meaning that for just wanted newcomers, even though at this point Ridley's not really one, he's just not playable but been in every Smash game to date...minus the 3DS version. But yeah, I agree to what you said, Snake needs some love and Rayman deserves a higher spot defiantely..If another Rayman game comes out Rayman 4 then I hope it brings more fans for the character...Sadly, with Ridley being a stage hazard that Sakurai apparently thinks we all wanted, he probably won't ever be DLC. It's good to see that King K. Rool has inherited his place a the most wanted newcomer, at least. And he's not a hazard..
Of course, I'm most invested in Snake and Rayman currently, so seeing them move higher up is top priority. I'm already happy to see Rayman getting recognition, but Snake at least deserves to be with the other veterans, third party be damned.
:3 Hello and welcome, glad to see you. Rayman is one of my childhood heroes too, I played the first Trilogy and loved him ever since the first. ^u^ Hope you enjoy your stay.Having Rayman would be pretty damn epic. Sign me up please. He's a childhood hero of mine and I've always loved his games and attributes.
Ah yes. Rayman, The Great Escape, and Hoodlum Havoc. :3 All great games. Although, I do still wonder if that's considered canon with the newer Rayman...:3 Hello and welcome, glad to see you. Umm, I think so. From what I heard from my friend Andrea, Origins seems to take place 100 years after the events of Rayman 3; both Hoodlum Havoc and Hoodlum's Revenge...but don't quote me on that, I may be wrong as it's been a while since I heard something like that...Ah yes. I wonder when we'll be getting another Rayman game. I also wonder if they'll ever do another 3D platformer like The Great Escape and Hoodlum Havoc. Those were both great games.Umm, I think so. But I think it is, despite all the throwbacks the recent games have from the first game...
...Rayman 4....*sigh* I hope we get another one soon enough, as mentioned before, there seems to be something done so some Rayman games can get focused on without Ubi doing other things... But I really want a 3D game again, Rayman is like my only game experience where the characters goes from 2D to 3D without much flaw...Even though I love Sonic, Rayman handled it better...I wonder when we'll be getting another Rayman game. I also wonder if they'll ever do another 3D platformer like The Great Escape and Hoodlum Havoc. Those were both great games.
