You guys remember when I brought up the idea of a letter? Well, in case you guys are still interested in that, here's an example of what you should write.

Hello,
I’m writing in regards of the recently released Super Smash Bros for the Wii U and 3DS. I’m excited for these games more than anyone else, mainly with the Wii U version. However, there is one thing that I’m not quite satisfied about this, and that is Rayman who was not included as a playable character as many have hoped for. Now I am already fully aware that he’s a trophy in the Wii U version, let alone the full roster for both versions, but I feel strongly that Rayman should have his place as part of the playable roster in Smash Bros. Now I am quite aware that most people are upset with Ubisoft given their recent treatment to your system, namely with Rayman Legends being delayed and losing its exclusivity on the Wii U. However, I am willing to overlook these shortcomings and state that it is possible for Rayman to be playable, because here are reasons why: I know that in spite of the current situation between you and Ubisoft that everyone thinks about, both of you have actually been good supporters for one another, especially since the Wii. It’s also noteworthy that Ubisoft has been one of the few third party developers to actually support the Wii U compared to other companies, even actually speaking praise of the Wii U console itself. In addition to this, even while Rayman Legends is no longer exclusive to the Wii U, the Wii U version does contain unlockable Mario and Luigi costumes for the playable characters. Also, the game was published in Japan by Nintendo yourselves. What’s also interesting is that the Wii U version of Rayman Legends was the one that sold more copies compared to the other consoles. Aside from just Rayman Legends, Rayman has appear on most Nintendo consoles and handhelds, including Rayman 1 for the Gameboy Advance and DSi, Rayman 2 on the N64, as well as the DS and 3DS ports, Rayman 3 for the GameCube and Gameboy Advance, Rayman Origins for both the Wii and 3DS, and the Rayman Raving Rabbids series on the Wii. But just to make my point on what I’m saying, please make Rayman playable in Smash Bros via DLC. I know you may not have direct influence over Sakurai’s development on the game, but what I’m saying it can be done. Recently, Mewtwo has been announced as playable DLC himself for both versions. Since this confirms that DLC is indeed possible, then making Rayman playable can be done. I know you and Sakurai said that you have no plans in releasing any other form of DLC, but if you do, I beg you, on behalf of all other wishes the same, to strongly consider making Rayman a playable character in Smash Bros through DLC, even if you both say no. He’s already got not one, but three trophies from his own series in Smash Bros Wii U, so he’s got a definite chance at becoming playable DLC more than ever. Other than that, I deeply appreciate the hard work Sakurai has done in making these games, as well as asking Ubisoft for permission to add the trophies to the Wii U version. I sincerely hope that he considers making Rayman playable soon.

Tried a few new ideas with alts; Standard Rayman, Japan inspired Rayman (with a few liberties), Globray, and Funky Rayman.

The Dark Rayman set; Rayman 1, Rayman GBC, Raymesis, and Dark Rayman from Legends.

The Laser Washing Powders; Vortex, Heavy Metal Fist, Lockjaw, Shock Rocket, and Throttle Copter.

I'm still trying out a few other ideas, but be sure to throw out more suggestions if I missed anything.

I always thought it would be the silhouette of a lum.

better than a circle, but if it turns out to be a circle, then that seems like more a waste considering Rayman is a unique character, a circle could be anything that's not Rayman, who knows? A circle can be a donut

A basic circle would be dumb but a lum seems like the most sensible choice. It's simple, and historically recognizable.

we need to get more creative then just a circle
What would the Rayman icon look like in SSB4?
I imagine it as the O on his shirt, but with a few sparkles around it. Kinda would also resemble the magic rings from the first game, but without the eyes and wings.
I prefer it over a lum, actually, even though the lums have seemed to be a part of Rayman's creation since Rayman 2.

The non-nintendo character trophies like Rayman and Captain Video do seem like they could be a hint at future DLC. Seems weird to put them in otherwise

I said this before, but can Rayman even talk in the games? Im not saying sentences, im saying like human talking and not say "Ow" words and it sounds like some guy with a cracked voice, to me Rayman looks like a teenager for some reason, anyone else agree?

I've always imagined a more playful, less cocky, Sonic, type voice. But, hey, that's just me.

Rayman has talked before in Rayman 2 (depending on the version) and Rayman 3. He was voiced by David Gasman there, he was also voiced by Billy West in the short lived cartoon. I think David Gasman, while his acting isn't the best, gave Rayman a pretty good voice.

Did Rayman say anything like, something to tell us that he can actually talk and not say "Ow" and cracked sentences?

I'd prefer him be silent over either of those, honestly.
I agree when it comes to Billy West's take on the character, he's a great voice actor, but I don't like his Rayman voice. As I stated before, I like David Gasman's voice, but not really his acting, but I'm not sure if that's him or the voice direction.

Sounds too much like Sonic's voice honestly, really hope they give him David's voice for SSB4 if it were possible.
I believe that is David Gasman, still, realistically speaking, if Rayman is included, they'll probably use the voice samples from Origins and Legends.

Personally speaking, I'd want the majority of content to come from the obviously superior Rayman 2, since that's my favorite Rayman game, and second favorite game ever. Rayman wouldn't have much reason to speak in Smash, other than the occasional grunt, or "YEAH!" so his Legends sound clips work well enough (he sounds almost the same as he did in Rayman 2 as well).

Some shout outs to the first game would be really great though, his victory jingle could be a remix of the stage clear tune, and he just needs the grimace as a taunt. I also had the idea for a traveling stage that visited locales from the entire series.

Rayman:

Grab:Lockjaw, the same function to Link's grab, same length of hitbox, can send knockback in the air, can grab the ledge like Link's

The thing about what makes Rayman unique and fitting to Sm4sh if he has almost everything covered, they don't even need to come up with moves, but only some, they can just use Raymans moves from all of the games that best fits him, the victory jingle, taunts, idle animation, getting hit animation, etc, all Nintendo really has to do is make a model of Rayman doing those things.

I've done some more work to the OP, added my updated moveset with customs, the pallet swaps, etc. Please take a look!

I'm doing more work on the stage concept as well, but I'd like to do a sort of quick poll first:

If you had to pick only one area from each game out of these lists, which would it be?

Rayman
The Dream Forest
Band Land
The Blue Mountains
Picture City
The Cave of Skops
Candy Chateau

Rayman 2
The Fairy Glade/Marshes of Awakening
The Cave of Bad Dreams
Sanctuaries (Water and Ice, Stone and Fire, Rock and Lava)
The Precipice
Tomb of the Ancients
The Buccaneer (Prison Ship)

Rayman 3
The Fairy Council
Clearleaf Forest/The Bog of Murk
Land of the Livid Dead
Desert of the Knaaren
The Longest Shortcut
Summit Beyond the Clouds

Rayman Origins
Jibberish Jungle
Desert of Dijridoos
Gourmand Land
Sea of Serendipity
Mystical Pique/Moody Clouds
Land of the Livid Dead

Rayman Legends
Main Gallery
Teensies in Trouble
Toad Story
Fiesta de los Muertos
20,000 Lums Under the Sea
Olympus Maximus

I'm iffy on the movesets. His up B is a given. If there were to be another 3rd party character, I would want it to be rayman (his games on the WiiU are great).

That is, aside from Snake :,(

I don't know the stages well, but the ones that I left sound the coolest and I can imagine a good stage coming from.

Particularly Picture City, Band Land, The Cave of Bad Dreams and the Desert of Dijridoos.

I appreciate the input, but I specifically asked for only one from each game. If you could be a bit more specific.

I guess he's talking about Rayman's iconic ability to use his hair to decrease his falling speed; in other words, his Up B would be an additional jump before using this ability. I haven't see the movesets in the OP because I don't want to be spoiled about Rayman's abilities from Origin and Legends, but I'd rather take Rayman's most iconic ability as a specific character gimmick just like Peach's floating dress. For example, if he's in the air and already used his air jump, he could use this unique ability by pressing the jump button again, or tap jump if activated, allowing him to switch between different air mobilities (like regular similar to Fox' and hair-inducing similar to Jigglypuff's). Heck he could even have two different A-movesets between those modes! But at the same time Rayman was already seen to use his hair to actualy rise in Rayman 2 (in the level with the lava boss who gives one of the masks) so maybe it could be both his up B and a specific gimmick, but I'd rather see a purple lum or the yellow power-up from Rayman 3.

And I absolutely want to see Rayman's screen K.O, it's going to be hilarious!

Err, this is exactly what I came up with, and what I have in the OP. Rayman's special ability is to slowly hover down by holding the button after jumping, he can even use his standard special to fire energy shots while doing so.

I also have that exact recovery, at least as a custom (though it was my very first idea for a recovery), a Purple Lum appears and he swings from it. Though I did put his standard recovery as an added boost with his hair, and the Throttle Copter is also a custom.

You wouldn't be spoiled on anything from Origins/Legends from my moveset either, since it's just a bunch of punches and kicks.

booo!
Rayman 1 is way better!

as for stages:
From Rayman 1 it would be either Dream forest or Band Land because those are easily the most Iconic.
From Rayman 2 I'd say maybe one of the sanctuaries or a pirate ship
From Rayman 3 It should be the fairy council because that place is beautiful.
From Origins it should be the Desert of the Dijridoos
From Legends I'd like a Fiesta de los Muertos level

Rayman 1 is amazing, and my second favorite, but I prefer 3D platformers in general. Rayman really needs another 3D game.

With a whopping two people voting, the highest so far are:

Rayman: Band Land

Rayman 2: ???

Rayman 3: The Fairy Council

Rayman Origins: Desert of Dijridoos

Rayman Legends: Fiesta de los Muertos

Come to think of it, it would probably be better to just have a mishmash of different locales since a lot of the same concepts are reused throughout the series, like Band Land and Desert of Dijiridoos being pretty much the same thing.

Generalized areas that are iconic to Rayman seems to be the better way to go, with iconic landmarks thrown in to ground it.

Forest/Swamp area: Dream Forest, the Marshes of Awakening, Clearleaf Forest, Jibberish Jungle.
Musical/sky area: Band Land, Desert of Dijiridoos, Moody Clouds.
Mountainous area: Blue Mountains, the Precipice, Summit Beyond the Clouds, Mystical Pique.
Level Ate: Candy Chateau, Gourmand Land, Fiesta de los Muertos.
Generally spooky areas: The Cave of Bad Dreams/Tomb of the Ancients, Desert of the Knaaren, Land of the Livid Dead (3 & Origins).
Beloved water levels: The Cave of Skops, Sanctuary of Water and Ice, Sea of Serendipity, 20,000 Lums Under the Sea.
Fire and brimstone: The Sanctuaries of Stone and Fire/Rock and Lava, Hoodlum Headquarters, Olympus Maximus.
Iconic locations: Picture City, The Buccaneer, The Fairy Council, The Longest Shortcut.

Hmm... This will take some work.

I would love to see the Enchanted Forest as a stage, and then there would be trees on each side that can be passed through, and once 30 seconds passed, the branches move, they can be turned into platforms to get on, they can attack players like the flying men, but do 2% damage, stun players, and sometimes Lums would appear with food similar to the Shyguy on Yoshi's stage, on the final destination stage, it would be similar to Gaur plains FD's stage, but there would be branches growing out under the stage and would be in the same background but without the trees on the end of the sides.

Its possibly, im taking a guess, but im sure its going to be the
in 3D, it just seems too perfect, like I mentioned, Rayman is a unique character since he ha-blah blah blah, just look at the post I said to see what I mean.
Btw your avatar picture gets a 101% in my book
