Bowser Jr.: 45% We may or may not get 6 Mario characters. I think there is a 50/50 chance. I only give him a 45 for the chance of Paper Mario. I also think he would be amazingly easy to design. While I don't think he will be a direct clone of Bowser, I think he could get much of his moveset and possibly get a large part of Squirtle's moveset. He could also get Squirtle's shell shifting.
Want: 100% I would love to see him. He is in my top 10 characters for smash.

I don't think mother's unlikely, and I think both have similar positions as popular smash picks from hi series... The difference is Juggles is relic in a series that traditionally favours the new, and Jr. is a heavily recurring character in a series that favours re-occurrence.

I think being a 3 time veteran speaks for itself. Although among the OG 12, she does have the highest chance to be cut, but it is very very slim. I would be very surprised if she doesn't come back, however I wouldn't really care about her specifically. She's pretty meh to me. I would, however, be very disappointed that other OG 12 then have the chance to be cut as well. Because of the implications from her potential cut, I would want her to return.

He could be pretty interesting. As far as Mario newcomers go, he has one of the better chances. It all comes down to whether or not Mario gets another character, which I don't think has a very good chance of happening, although I am always ready to be surprised. This is the largest series by Nintendo, and they could potentially have more additions than anyone. IMO, it's either him, Paper Mario (Who could actually be part of a separate series) or Toad, after that, it's a bunch of one time/minor characters who's chances are so minute that they might as well be WTF characters.

I was thinking if Bowser Junior was cut, the small turtle moves from Squirtle could be given to him (or at least a few of his moves) if Squirtle does not return.

That said I'm long past the point of caring now about Puff. I would rather Pikachu be the only consistent returning Pokemon(with maybe Charizard as the secondary one) and that Jiggs is likely to get in(yet again) due to her ease to make before other popular Pokemon choices is a little depressing.

I find it a little suspicious we have all our Mario characters revealed pre release honestly. Jr. is probably the most likely if we're to get a new secret character(otherwise it may just be Luigi again).
Unlike Rosalina, Jr.'s roles have been decreasing of late; no 3D World appearance was possibly the most damning, and currently appears to be missing from Mario Kart 8 whilst his adoptive brothers and sister are all playable racers is another oddity. Perhaps he'll be an unlockable in that?

Now this is conflicting. On the one hand, I clearly would prefer Toad(Captain or otherwise), and I've never been a fan of Bowser Jr. at all, even going so far as to actively dislike his bratty archetype character in his series. I still hold some resentment that he replaced the Koopalings all those years ago, albeit that situation is being fixed now.

On the other hand; he IS a prevalent Mario cast member, and he is popular within the Smash Bros. fanbase. He also has a lot to offer in terms of options, and I could at least gain some enjoyment from having his inclusion for the sake of others. Or by having a new punchbag.

Overall, Jr. is one of the more deserving Mario individuals yet to be included in Smash, and I feel he probably deserves the spot enough to warrant a slightly above neutral want rating from myself.

She has been in the past three titles, and while it is argued that it doesn't matter much, it has created a situation that an average player would simply expect her to be in the game, just like you'd expect Dasiy or Waluigi to appear in every Mario sports title.

Let me explain why I hate the Rosalina reveal.
You see, Mario is my favorite video game series of all-time. I grew up with the series since Super Mario 64 and I still continue to play the Mario games. Sunshine was amazing, but not as good as 64 in my opinion. When I saw Bowser Jr., I thought it was hilarious how he thought that Peach was his mother. When it came to pre-Brawl, he was one of my most wanted newcomers as I really wanted another Mario character.
Galaxy came along and I loved that game to death! (I also love how you can FINALLY play as Luigi in a major 3D Mario game) Rosalina... I had no feelings for. I was incredibly indifferent on her. When I unlocked her in Mario Kart Wii, I thought, "Oh wow! That's pretty cool!" Though, I had no attachment to her at all. I became negative towards her when she became playable in SM3DW; when I saw that announcement, I thought, "Umm... cool I guess. Why not Yoshi?"
I became COMPLETELY negative towards her when she was confirmed for Smash. Characters like Bowser Jr. and Toad are characters that I both like and feel as though they deserve to be on the roster. Rosalina was in neither of these categories. When it comes to a game like Mario Kart, I'm fine with Rosalina. But Smash? I felt as though she was a waste of a slot and she should have been a different Mario character and her moveset would be taken by someone else (like Palutena or something). That and the fact that we haven't had a newcomer for six months made me kinda disgusted that she got announced and not some other character.
That's why I don't like the Rosalina reveal. It's less of Bowser Jr. and more of the lines of a character that I don't care about at all and one that I don't think was entirely deserving got into Smash. In a similar manor for Greninja, I found it to be a pleasant surprise since I like Greninja and the possible outcome of Brawl Pokemon + Mewtwo was boring. Rosalina was unpleasant because she wasn't a character that I liked; she was one that I didn't care about. Don't even get me started on how much I detest her moveset.
Bowser Jr. himself is a character that I believe deserves to be on the roster. He is one of the last remaining Nintendo all-stars and I think that he could be unique.

She is a 3 time veteran. People say that she is safe as she is one of the Original 12, but I don't think that this is entirely the case. Characters like the Initial 8, Luigi, and Captain Falcon are all important to Nintendo while Ness represents a popular RPG with a cult following. Those characters are deserving and thus shouldn't ever be cut. Jigglypuff is harder to justify since she was put in for both reasons of the anime back then and because she wouldn't take much time as it looks similar to Kirby in terms of body design. As such, I find her to be in the most danger of getting cut out of the Original 12.
I say this and yet Jigglypuff has established a name for herself in Smash. Cutting her is easier said than done. She has a ton of fans and people will be disappointed that she would get removed. I made a roster that cut Jigglypuff for Mewtwo and people questioned why I did that, thus showing that she has more power within the community.
I am assuming that Pokemon is receiving 5 slots; there can be a sixth, but I am not entirely expecting it. As such, I find Jigglypuff, the three-time veteran, and Mewtwo, the most requested character worldwide, to be duking it out for the final slot. They both might get in, however. If there are 6 slots, they are both shoo-ins.

To be honest, I am a bit conflicted here.
On one hand... I like Jigglypuff in Smash. I don't think that it deserved to get in over the likes of Meowth, but it has a fun moveset. That and I would feel heavily sympathetic towards the Jigglypuff mains. Cutting Jigglypuff would be painful as she would be playable in every installment up until now. (this is coming from a guy whose main, Luigi, has been in every game thus far)
On the other hand... I want Mewtwo in Smash. If she got cut for Mewtwo, then I'm game. Though, I would be a tad bit disappointed if she didn't return.

Want: 100% - While she might not have been my choice if I was in charge I've always liked her. I enjoy playing as her sometimes and I wouldn't be too thrilled to see one of the original twelve be dropped. Would also be nice to see the fairy type have some representation.

shes a three time veteran and is part of the original 12, that enough will continue to push her to another game, and her simplistic design is just enough to ensure she gets developed. along with the fact that I see no purpose for sakurai or game freak to remove her from the game she is basically near guaranteed
also to the thinking that she is competing against mewtwo, in 64 they both were picked to be represented for Pokémon but was very limited of what could get in, but Jigglypuff got through in the end for being similar to Kirby. melee was where they both were in, mainly because with a stronger console and no problems the team could make both and just add an extra fodder (pichu). brawl a different case, the team was running out of time so they had to cut some characters that were in development, and mewtwo who supposedly had the most data on him out of the forbidden seven was remove for more time to work on others, but yet Jigglypuff survived and barley made it in game.
it doesn't matter if mewtwo got more potential or more popularity, Jigglypuff has survived against him twice when it comes to being in the roster, most likely if there are problems again the same conclusion will happen.
thankfully there hasn't been any problems to be seen yet, and everything is going to schedule, and since most likely that they are planning to add mewtwo just based on his overwhelming popularity alone, both will probably make it in, so no need to worry about losing your senses off about a puff ball.

I will be only rating Jigglypuff. After the bold claim I'm about to make, I don't think my Bowser Jr thoughts would matter.

Jigglypuff: Chance 100%

Now, I know most of are probably scrolling away as we speak, but hear me out.

The first thing I want to say is that the only reason Jigglypuff would get cut is if she had low priority. With that said, I don't think she would have low priority in this game.

As much as people deny that the fairy typing isn't that important for Jigglypuff, I think it is important based off what I've seen.

Notice the heavy promotion Sakurai is giving X and Y. Look at the mega evolution mechanic, the stages, Greninja. Why wouldn't he keep the fairy pokemon in. I know what people are going to ask, "but Jigglypuff isn't a posterboy for fairy types." While you are correct at that point, I believe it doesn't matter.

Looking at the direct, I noticed that Sakurai emphasizes the fact that he added a mega-evolution rather then emphasizing adding mega-lucario. If added mega-evolutions because they were hyped then Jigglypuff is a shoe-in based on the fact she is a fairy. The fact of the matter is, fairy typing was hyped as much as mega-evolution. If you are going to promote mega-evolutions like that, then it is ridiculous not to have one playable fairy.

And of course, with Jigglypuff being easy to make and her iconic smash status, why not Jigglypuff?

Now, I know people will argue that Jigglypuff was low priority in Brawl, but I don't think it will matter in this case. After all, Ness was low priority in and yet he came back in brawl. While Ness being low priority in melee proves that any character can be cut, it also proves that priority isn't the same for the next game.

Bear in mind also that Ness didn't really have anything big going on for him during brawl's release and he still wasn't low priority. Even if anyone still is willing to argue against her fairyness, Jigglypuff could still be high priority just because.

The last thing I want to touch upon is that Sakurai really seems to like giving each character there own little sets of new goodies in this game. So here's Jigglypuff with a brand new fairy typing. Why wouldn't he jump on the chance to add some fairy flare to her? At the very least it is something she has over characters that haven't gotten a major new installment since brawl.

In conclusion, there is certainly a lot of things that can potentially be going for her in this game and I think it would be very silly decision to cut her especially since she is basically the only ticket left to a playable fairy type. Which, I will say again, was a very hyped aspect of generation 6.

I've always been a fan of jigglypuff. I just generally like cute characters and Jigglypuff is no exception. She was also so much fun to play as in the other games. With all the other characters getting cool new stuff, I want to see what they do with Jigglypuff.

To play the dark advocate, that was when Brawl development time was running low, so only semi-clones were only made during that time, in which Jigglypuff was technically one of them. So I wouldn't say that's a pro.

Hey, look! It's Bowser's favourite children, Bowser Jr.! Seriously, i never understood BJr.; he appeared out of nowhere in Super Mario Sunshine (which i have only watched let's plays), and from there on has been in every spin-off mario game. Yep, he is truly his father's spoiled child (that actually took out all of the other Koopaling's statuses as children haha)

Want: 40%

Bowser Jr isn't really my favourite mario character, but he would be the obvious choice if there was going to be yet another mario newcomer. He has potential to be unique, with all the paintbrushing and all; solid choice.

Yes, original 12. Jiggly is undoubtly an OG. Being in every smash brothers game to date has it's advantages; Jiggs is the odd one in the original smash's roster; of all the 151 original monsters, they chose the pink balloon pokémon as the 2nd playable character in the franchise (also have in mind that only mario and pokémon have 2 playable characters in smash 64, considering yoshi is part of his own game). If Jigglypuff was a one-shot character she would not have returned in melee, and guess what, she's even in Brawl! Write my words, Jiggs is back. even though she does is the member of the original 12 with the less chances of coming back (0.5% heuheu)

If i could use a higher percentage without harming the laws of mathematics, i would. I'm a Jigglypuff enthusiast! Before i played the original smash brothers jiggly was not my favorite poke, but after discovering it... too many sleep rest combos are in our history to be told in such a short post.

They could also change Peach's final smash so that Jigglypuff can make everyone fall asleep (for an even longer period of time, of course mwawmwamam). But sometimes i don't think it would be that good, Peach's FS is not that good, and who doesn't like to puff up in FD?

He's not. He's currently in 10th not counting veterans. The top 10 chance chart is a little dated.

Pretty much this. We decided to spend two weeks rating the biggest named characters again after the Direct, so we decided not to update the images until we reach a point where we won't need to do so every day. I should have a footnote in the OP about it, but I forgot.Currently Ridley has about a 30% chance. Most believe he is deconfirmed or pretty unlikely; others believe that we don't have enough info to say either way, and some believe that the ambitious nature of the shadow is a tease that he'll be playable. I'd prefer if you didn't reply to this; I'm not trying to start a debate or anything, I'm just stating how that day went.

I walked into K-Mart the other day, and I eventually found my way to their electronics station. They have a 3DS displays set up, so I go to check it out. You know what four banners they have across the top of the stand? Super Mario 3D Land. New Super Mario Bros. 2. Mario Kart 7. Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. In addition to those, the other games that were displayed prominently on the stand? Mario and Luigi: Dream Team. Mario Party: Island Tour. And the other three prominent ones were Pokemon X, Pokemon Y, and Link Between Worlds, but that's irrelevant to my argument. My point? Just look at what Mario has become for Nintendo! Mario is more important to them now than it has been since the NES days; it's a freaking juggernaut. I wouldn't be overly surprised if we see a second Mario newcomer, and Bowser Jr. has little competition there--Toad is possible, but highly unlikely, and Paper Mario is a background threat, too. I think it's just premature to rule Mario candidates out already.

Bowser Jr. Want: 50%
I was a big Junior supporter last summer and before; I switched my allegiance to Toad in the fall only to see him in each's moveset a few weeks later. Now I would certainly be content with Junior, but I would like to see some other franchises get in or get bigger before we flood things with Mario characters.

Jigglypuff Chance: 90%
I was always taught one thing regarding patterns: something starts having significance when it occurs for a third time. We'v seen Jigglypuff three times now, and she's really become a Smash tradition. You could argue that she's lost relevancy or something like that, but I just don't see that trumping the power of precedent. I do think she'll be lower priority, though, so she does run some risk of getting time-hammered.

Jigglypuff Want: 50%
Meh. On one hand, things would just feel... somewhat strange... without her. On the other, she'd free up some space if she were to get cut, and value newcomers over veterans. I'd be satisfied either way, just like with Jr.

Chances : 100% : The fact that she's easy to make is a guarantee to me that she would make it. Plus, why would you cut a unique character that's easy to make ? Doesn't make sense. Plus, if Ivy and Squirtle are cut, that makes 6 Pokémon if you add Mewtwo and Jigglypuff. The same number as in Brawl.
Want : 116% : No more of my mains cut plz. She's amongst my top ten when it comes to the Pokémon franchise (Charmander, Shellder, Vaporeon, Lapras, Arcanine, Ninetail, Gardevoir, Wurmple, Jigglypuff and Ghastly are my top 10.). There's is absolutely no way I want her to be cut. She's cute, she's like a plushie, she's pink, she's cool, she definitely wants her crown back, she wants to bitchslap more people, she wants to make people who hate her cry. What's not to love about Jigglypuff ? She's my main in SSB64, and my third main after Peach and Zelda in the other installments. Seeing as most of my wanted newcomers will not make it (I'd be happy to have at least one of them make it, lol), I don't want another character I like to play as gone (I miss Mewtwo and Pichu).

Chances : / : I'll abstain. I'd probably put him lower than Toad, but then again, I would have put Rosalina under most Mario characters so... yeah.
Want : 10% : I don't like the character. He is annoying, and not really important to me. I still resent the fact he's more important than the Koopalings, he looks exactly like Baby Bowser and has a resemblance to Mini Bowser as well. He's one of the few characters I feel is uninspired. If he were to disappear from the surface of the planet, I really don't think I would realize he was gone. But I still put 10% because it's still another Mario character and I know some people would like him. Toad, Birdo, Petey, heck, even Daisy and Waluigi I would prefer over him.
