I'll post the whole converstion if you guys want, not just a bits and pieces. Then you guys can decide.

w/e Maybe i'll cancel the tourney, maybe that will be better.I wont hold Tourneys anymore if I get reactions like this, it's not worth it. I made a lot of friends over smash and I dont want to lose them over money.
Please don't cancel it. Most of us appreciate you hosting tournies and at least you're honest about making a small amount of money. I really don't think 4 dollars per person venue fee is too crazy, especially considering that you will be buying TVs to provide. I honestly prefer that over trusting people to bring TVs, last time I tried so hard and even offered free meals but like no one brought one. I think it's safe to have a set amount of TVs, and people can bring theirs on top of that and we can even be playing friendlies through the whole tournament. A lot more fun.

Hi you guys. Ok I know to everyone in here Im a nobody so my opinion might not matter much but I just want to give you guys a different perspective on the situation. I had the pleasure of attending Races last tournament which I think was run well considering the amount of people and space given. Why is everyone complaining about ONE extra dollar? Really if that extra dollar is a big deal then you shouldn't be spending your money on smash tournaments. Why are people tripping on Race trying to make money off of this, he is the one that is putting the work to make these happen?

Short version: One dollar is not a lot, and Race has every right to make money off of this

Whoever minds the venue fee, I will COVER your venue fee personally (4 dollars) if you bring a full tv and wii set. No laggy TVs, and nothing under 12 inches though sorryz

Thanks for the support guys.

Also please dont be angry or peeved at danimals, he does have a point. I also believe that hosts shouldnt make too much from a tourney, cause that would be stealing. But i've made calculations and have put the price as low as I can to 1.make up the money and time/effort i'm spending. 2. Have the price low enough to where it's not ridiculus. and everyone can enjoy

I read the event and from what i read it says we have to pay $2 for each event(Doubles, singles) and $3 for crew, correct me if im wrong. What im trying to understand is why we should pay the venue fee more than once? Like i don't mind paying 2 dollars for the fee, im just saying why is it that we have to pay it twice? Basically saying we have to pay a 4 dollar venue fee. I know Danimals feels a bit, upset, but im not upset about the price being raised up a dollar, thats fine. Like i said before I just want to know why we have to pay it twice?

Regarding the tv's i understand your trying to buy them for us, and that upping the venue fee another dollar is to help with the expenses. I understand the fact that you want us to have a good experience, but at the same time, if people are not going to help bring tv's then no one should be getting upset at you for this right? I just personally say keep the venue fee at a dollar, two dollars whatever, just don't charge it more than once since personally it does not make sense and if the smashers don't want to bring tv's then thats on them. They have no right to complain to you.

Side note: I will personally bring at least one tv to this tourney for sure.

I understand where you're coming from Jmex, but I've always ran the venue prices like this, it's theway many tourneys are ran also. But in contrast I know what you mean bout not bring a TV and complaining. So to anyone who an bring a set up, I'll waive the venue fee off totally.

I wanna end this drama here, so please let's not talk about this anymore, if you have any questions comments hit me up on aim.

Truth... I mean, i would understand if were going to two venues. But were going to one, so why would we pay the venue feel twice? All other tourneys that ive been to have only charged the venue fee once, which makes much more sense.
then are you suggesting he just charges a flat rate of $4? at least this way if one doesn't want to enter doubles they wont have to pay the venue fee.

But hey it's your money.

No, like i was saying its basically like charging 4 dollars since just about everyone plays doubles and singles. But forget about it, Race said to drop it so done.

As for the food, i didn't get a chance to try it last time :( so anything is fine for me. :)

LOL, I didnteven get to have any BBQ myself either, but it is TOO GOOD.

As for the burgers, I can have a flat out bread and patty, plus you get to create your own burger with condiments i'll provide. How does that sound?

any semi-adult who actually has to have grown up a bit in life and isn't ridiculously selfish knows and respects your position on this, race. the smash community is notorious for never doing **** to help tournaments in terms of supplies and making sure tournament matches go as quickly as they should; they're just looking out for themselves. you're the host and you should make sure you look out for yourself no. 1, so good job.

i'm definitely going to try to come this time just for the food ^^. and if i do come i'll bring a tv (though i hope we have a melee tv ^^)

Location updated, it's 95% gonna be in yorba linda. If there are any changes i'll let you guys know in the next few days. But this is pretty much set in stone.

But i'll change it back to cerritos if you guys prefer. Yorba has a bigger venue and you guys know in my last tourney it was pretty stuffy in that garage, but what ever you guys want.

if you were doing as much as race was, you could justify doing so. different context = different rules.

thought people were gonna stfu about it?

Hey Race so i know you want to have the venue at yorba linda but would it be possible if you still held it at the last location of the last tourney? If its because of space would it be possible to use the drive way as an extension to the garage? Im just wondering because from what i know of moving the location is due to space issues. Although i agree that many people did not like the cramped space i would have to say for everyone that if there were more TV's not as many people would mind it. Having TV's in the drive way would mean less people in the garage and so on and so fourth. Just thought id throw the idea out there.

Thatnks for the suggestion Jmex. I did think about putting TV's inthe drive way, but the biggest thing would bethe neighbors. As I have really cranky neighbors I'm sure they would complain about putting set ups on the driveway itself. One time they complained about haveing a moonbounce 5 feet too close to the street! WTF!? I dont even know that that means. Anyways another problem would be the glare, the sun's possition would be affecting how people would have to watch and stuff, and even then we won't have it totally clear till dusk. What we can do though is put some set-ups in the back, that was we'llhave a lot more room, but the problem would be match calling as I would only be in the garageto call matches. I can only have ppl go to the back when they play and nothing else. . . I dunno.

Anyways it's up to you guys for the location, cause it's majority rules. I'm setting it for yorba because I'm looking out for everyone and want to make this a comfy as possible, evenI agree it was like a sauna in mygarage last week, lolz.. Also with there being more room I can have space for everything, because my garage in cerritos is gonna have a hard time fitting 7 set-ups. Yorba can have like up to 8 or 9 set ups no prob. I mean if you guys can sacrifice 20 min more driving it's really worth it. But hey it's up to you guys
