but the knowledge of 'timings' in dota is ridiculously simplistic compared to that in starcraft, and the mechanics (tech skill??) don't even begin to compare

in conclusion, starcraft is amazing, and all other games suck when compared to it
what's your point

knowledge of "timings" in a lot of games are that much moe simple compared to those in starcraft, same with techskill/mechanics

it's true that a majority of the respective skillsets overlap, with starcraft being the arguably more difficult game, but dota does have its own unique set of "skills" that you need to master anyways

ie what items are proper for what situation, so on

it's a lot more complicated than it looks; and i'm not just saying that because i prefer dota over starcraft

my point is that dota 'skills' are all strictly inferior to starcraft 'skills'

and that starcraft *****; if you concede that starcraft ***** while you just personally like dota, then high 5

edit: and i played the old RoC dota for a long time (and it was a long time ago too.. when i was in... HIGH SCHOOL my god i'm old), and it was mild fun but really just too repetitive in the end

plus the scourge had only like 5-6 viable heroes

the "new" dota (really any tft dota) was simply too tricked up for my taste

COURSE STARCRAFT ***** DAFUK (i'm just bad at it)

iono i started at 6.43 right before aegis nerf

i heard RoC version was broken as **** though (SA with deathward [moving deathward]), and wasn't anywhere close to being a competitive game until the 6.xx series

up to when i stopped playing (pretty much like 3_0 - 3_7b or something like that), SA didn't have moving death wards

SA wasn't even commonly used in competitive games, it was mostly (I don't know how many of these have been retained into "modern" dota or if they even have the same form)

sentinels...
Purity's Disciple
Frost Maiden
Titan guy (I don't remember the full name)
Juggernaut (fkn ***** in combo with frost maiden)
whoever the hell they wanted (seriously, almost all sents were good besides virtue disciple // sniper), but most commonly troll, lancer, earthshaker, or omni

scourge...
Pit Lord
Soulrender
Mageslayer
Necrolyte
??? - this spot wants to be a wolf for late game, but with already having MS and pit lord, you need someone who can hold a lane... I believe demon magess was the most common play here (just to **** a lane early; she kind of sucks late game), with storm spirit, tormented soul, and the vampire guy all getting some play

It wasn't super broken, but the scourge pretty much had to be locked into a lineup with those top 4, whereas any sentinel team featuring PD/Titan was viable

the SA was pretty rarely used in true team games since he gets ***** for free by the mageslayer early, and his invisibility was pretty much useless

it was definitely fun times, but it was fun times in the shut-your-brain-off-and-**** mold, rather than a deep, exciting game

plus, fkn leavers =[

also i remember this one replay of this amazing wraithlord which gave me a lot of hope for the game, but in the end it just got stale

ic

nowadays leagues are played in apxl format, so there's no more sent vs scourge :/; altho, if they kept on doing sent vs scourge, scourge prob be winning now due to more aoe + better carries

although with the new stable, many more heroes are usable in lineups now, for example (in no specific order):

Sentinel:
Tier 1

Zeus
ES
PotM
Puck
Omni
BM

Tier 1.5
Centaur
DK
THD
Ogre

Tier 2
Tiny
Panda
Luna
Sven
Jug
Sil
Lina

Scourge:
Tier 1

Warlock
QoP
TERRORBLADE
Broodmother
SF
NA
Leoric

Tier 1.5
Lich
SP
Necro
CK
Lesh
Lion
Pugna

Tier 2
Viper
Crixalis
Mag
Visage
Axe

That's just a basic tier list off of the top of my head based off of recent league matches etc; not official by any means. .50 Dagger nerf hurt a lot of heroes (combined with some individual nerfs), so much to the point that they dropped from being a staple pick to a semi-never picked hero (SK/Mag etc).

Any heroes that aren't on here are pretty much either unusable in competitive play, or see very little time as a specific counter to another hero, or some team's speciality (ie XcN and Meepo).

yeah i remember my friend talking about how sent vs scourge used to be ridiculously imbalanced in scourge's favor before the .48b dagger era, since he was on one of the top teams around 1-2 years ago, lived through the transition from sent vs scourge to apxl and so on

funny though as the game progressed towards a more ganking + AoE based style of play, scourge heroes had a much larger advantage (plus some nerfs to key sent solos like thd and buffs to SF's raze etc).

a while ago before the 6.5x series top 5 were BM/Lock/Zeus/QoP/NA in that order (based off a point system on how frequently they were banned/used + w/l ratio or something)

bleh, at the end of the day, it just seems like CS with auto-aim to me (GROSS oversimplification, but i'd get an approximate equal amount of enjoyment out of both)

lol I like weaver.

dota definitely is a more light-hearted fun. I've been playing off and on since 5.84

weaver is one of the worst carries

one of the worst stat growths in the game

subpar ult for a carry (lewl time lapse?) whereas tb/spec/sk etc have better ults

wards + chain disable > weaver moreso than other carries

ugly

:/

yeah weaver is pretty much garbage, but still fun to play in pubs where most players are not aware of such things

I was just curious, no one in is SC right now.

I reckon you move in the Sept 15th or something. I'll talk to Hyuga/Sheridan about gathering new potential Deep Norcalians.
seriously can't waittttt

also, I desperately want to play melee tomorrow, but I need transportation
or possibly other times this week

don't worry about asking (if you're coming in the afternoon), just show; if you can bring tvs and/or wiis and/or cubes, do it; better safe than sorry

if you really REALLY want to play and can't get a ride, you can take the BART to millbrae, then take the caltrain from there

Or it could be because driving ~4 hours is ghey. Tournaments are dumb anyways. Lucien/Zhu Donation Fund much?

Bad timing for agreeing to cover someone until 5

parking: park anywhere where there's not a number (pretty much anywhere where it's not covered); if there are no spots (unlikely), you'll have to park in the shopping center

ring the buzzer for 113, i'll buzz you in, then go straight, turn right at the hallway, and find 113 (it will be on your left)
