Tbh it doesn't feel as fluid as brawl does. It has been so long since we played it, and it looks and feels old & clunky. After we beat Vyse and Blade, we were like meh and went and ate lollies.

We are prob the only people in QLD who like brawl more than melee, but still that's just how we see it.

L cancelling makes melee more fluid than brawl, really. I feel like I have complete control over my character in melee, but not the same in brawl (I played alot of brawl back when it was new).

Probably just an experience difference.

Yeh L cancelling is good, and that helps the movement. But playing fox on brawl (once you have learnt the character through completely) can do almost everything you can do in melee except wavedash and shine follow-ups. However now that there is more buffering and less traction, you can cancel all aerials in to boosted smashes with the right timing. You no longer have to crouch cancel to change movement or smash. Laser canceling is still just as viable. Illusion can be platform cancelled and edge cancelled. You can still shine into a lot of things, including out of aerials and buffer out of shield moves.

Not trying to say one is better than the other. I just prefer the movement and the interchange between characters on brawl when compared to melee. Now too there is a lot more character based techniques when compared to melee as well. Which means to be in the top precentile of the game, you have to know how most of them can effect your character in situations.

I think Matt is experiencing what is known as 'noob syndrome'

Just joking.

But Sakurai did say that melee was 'just too difficult' for the average person.

I think I would find melee clunky if I couldn't L-cancel, wavedash etc

However graphics or an outdated look aren't much of a concern in a fighting game

Yea, Melee without L canceling is very clunky, even I find Melee difficult and I CBF trying to get better. It's all just personal preference I guess, Matt's just used to the easy mode feel of Brawl. Friggin casual market breaking everything ._.

Yeah what I was trying to say was the level precision required for melee would get frustrating. Brawl is a lot more forgiving. However if you are used to melee brawl feels restricting you do not have as much freedom of movement

yeah ben explains it well. There is definately much more character control and freedom in melee, but it requires experience/practice or whatever to get that comfortable with the game.

i tried playing brawl, and was like OMG WAREZ MY OPSHUNS? WHY CAN'T I MOVE??? but then i decided to main ike and pretend that he's melee ganon. i think that brawl and melee are just different. brawl has more momentum conservation than melee does, but melee has more movement options. so somebody coming from one will always find the other more clunky. at least that's my hypothesis.

also ben, are you going to autumnsmash? if josh doesn't come (he's going to text me tmr probs about it) want to team again? best team in australia?

Brawl you you mindgame and then punish to get in like 1 attack then it resets and you do it all over again, melee gives you so much more. Way more fulfilling, thats how i see it anyway.
I wasnt gonna enter brawl doubles.. though to be carried by Ben like he did with Chris might change my mind.

Edit: Also I received a mailout from you Vyse, and the dates etc on the poster are for Tpoo. Was there meant to be one sent out for this tourney instead?
Yeah, I got that too and I have no idea why. I'll have to beat up JB about it.

I want to start Brawl Doubles at about 12:30, so be there by then.

I'm not going or anything, but I don't understand why you aren't just running one game at a time rather than swapping setups around?
I guess if people really want Melee Doubles - Melee Singles - Brawl Doubles - Brawl Singles we could do it that way.

Is that fine with people?

that's fine by me. doesn't really matter imo. people are just being fussy.
Yeah I know.

Sorry I haven't been on top of this more. Hard to fit it in when people at work are like 'Cover my late duty kthnx'.

-_-

9:30PM and I need to get to sleep.

Hopefully I find out about the house tomorrow. The application's processed and sitting with the owners.

Driving exam in 8 days.

Could set aside a TV for early in the day for a lol Brawl side event while things happen.

I just think melee will have a pretty low attendance this time, may aswell give the brawlers what they want.

Sorry j-birds i wish i could come but i don't wanna get owned by my exams, I'd use up an extra 2 hours just getting there and back.

Really wish I could go though, that is why I want a PoS asap after this loool. I'm super keen to work on my ****ty smash skills.

Edit: lol I'm watching zeus try to edit his post to make the image work in real-time. too funny.

eh COD, my housemate has blops but it seems like such a generic game to play.. plus I'm pretty bad at FPS, all the shooters I've played recently have been 3rd person.

rob, you should get blazblue. then you can play with the cool kids like me and hugh.

also should i book PoS for 16th of april? if i do book it for 16th i'll have to cut it short to 4pm (or start it earlier if we want the same number of hours) because i'm due in toowoomba afterwards.

when does uni midsem break happen? i should know but it's late and i've forgotten
