Puzzle League/Panel De Pon General (Former SSB4 Lip Support Thread)

For the quantity of votes some other characters are getting, I think the passion we have for Lip shines through more. : )

It's too bad Kuchiri, the guy who ran Fairies' Secret Base, dropped off the face of the planet a few months ago. This is definitely something he'd be on board with. Oh, well.

I'm a fan of Puyo Puyo and Arle. I own lots of the Puyo Puyo games, and I want to own all of them.
They're very similar, they're puzzle games with lots of cute girls and an adorable heroine. Just like Panel de Pon, so of course I'm a fan. I sometimes wonder if Panel de Pon was inspired by Puyo Puyo at all.

I would rather see Lip in Smash Bros. than Arle. Smash Bros. is a Nintendo game, and Lip is a Nintendo character, and she really deserves the recommendation and recognition.

But I do wish that Puyo Puyo was more popular here, too. I love Puyo Puyo, too. Since there's a Puyo Puyo Tetris, it would be neat to see a Puyo Puyo and Panel de Pon game. It would be neat to see two of my favourite Puzzle franchises together. And maybe it would help both their popularity, or hopefully at least it would help Panel de Pon.

That would be really nice.

It was, honestly! It was a website where he posted fan art of the Panel de Pon series. You could really tell he had a lot of passion for it. He even had a contact form up and wasn't opposed to Western fans sending him messages (we even had a back-and-forth email conversation going for a time). It was great. Unfortunately, a couple of months ago he decided to shut the whole thing down with no fanfare and very little advance notice and stopped responding to my emails. I was heartbroken... still am, really. I hope it'll come back one day but I won't get my hopes up.

I would rather see Lip in Smash Bros. than Arle. Smash Bros. is a Nintendo game, and Lip is a Nintendo character, and she really deserves the recommendation and recognition.

This is what I think, too. Another big difference between Puyo Puyo and Panel de Pon is how the franchises are treated by their parent companies. Puyo Puyo is getting the cold shoulder outside of Japan, yeah, but in its homeland, Sega treats it more or less how Nintendo treats Animal Crossing or Pikmin - not one of their top sellers by any means, but still important enough to get a new game or port every four or five years. Nintendo treats Panel de Pon the way Sega treats Alex Kidd. Arguably worse, since at least Alex Kidd is in S&SASR. Lip coming back as SSB4 DLC would be more special than if it were Arle.

Friendly competition, and friendly sparring, yes. But I don't want to see any characters I like get too hurt. :<
I know that Smash is kind of violent. But I like to think that everyone is okay at the end of the battle and that most fighting games are more like friendly sparring and rough-housing. Where everyone is okay at the end.

But I wouldn't mind Lip and Arle both being in Smash Bros. I think it would be neat to see them in games together.
Though, sadly, as much as I like Puyo Puyo and Arle and other Puyo Puyo characters, I think if Lip were in Smash Bros., I would rather see some other Nintendo girls make it into Smash Bros. Like Jill or Ashley or Dixie Kong and many others.

And yeah, Smash definitely needs more female representation, but I'm pretty happy now with how many girls have made it into smash 4! Like, for a while there before the game came out, I was afraid we wouldn't get the girl villager! That would have made me quite upset!

And absolutely gorgeous art there by your sis!
It reminds of the 90's Bishoujo manga style, like if I were to read a comic of them back then if there was one, and the lines are super smooth; she's quite talented. I can draw decently well too, but my style of anime art is more of a Puni Plush/Chibi style, with exaggerated head proportions for maximum cuteness factor! (It's just what I prefer more, aesthetically)

It's not just that, it's that aside from the characters, the game is really fun, and if you manage to find an opponent who's very good with the game, it can be just as fun as Smash!
It's one of my all times favorite games!

There is a PS2 sequel but it's not as fun, it's a bit slower and easier.

There is also a Thouhou game that's inspired by this, it's called "Phantasmagoria of Flower View", but as any other Thouhou game, it has an insane grade of difficulty, and it easily becomes a frustration more than a fun experience.

It's not just that, it's that aside from the characters, the game is really fun, and if you manage to find an opponent who's very good with the game, it can be just as fun as Smash!

I honestly think this game has about as much creativity around SHMUP-genre as a competitive game as Smash Bros giving fighting game genre a more wackier spin. I always wanted this to have more things borrowed from other SHMUPs to accomodate that (basically take Parodius and crosso it with Twinkle Star Spriters' gameplay).

Whenever I put MAME on a new computer, I always put Twinkle Star Sprites on it first.
It's not a puzzle game like Panel de Pon and Puyo Puyo. But it's a cute game, and I love cute games.

I own the PlayStation 2 version of it, too. It was expensive...
And I would love to own an arcade cabinet.

I grew up a Nintendo person and didn't get to play many STGs. But I've gotten really into STGs thanks to Touhou.
And I've discovered all sorts of cute and wonderful games like that. I've become a really big fan, now.

I also really like Magical Pop'n for the SNES or Super Famicom. The Super Famicom is such an amazing system, and Panel de Pon and Magical Pop'n are both great games!

Anyway, what's that game
I watched some parts of a playthrough and... female Toon Link + Sonic, with Metroid elements, in Castlevania's world! The character is cute but everything else is more messed up the more you procede with the game! (I mean, creepy enemies and environments, destroyed castles, demons, dark atmosphere...) Anyway it looks very fun!
It's the first time I see that game, I didn't know about it.

Wonder if people know games like Popful Mail or Keio Flying Squadron? Also Taito had Puchi Carat which I also love for it's fun premise and actually very well-build world via characters and their relationships or backstories with each other.

I feel that with Sakurai's creativeness, he may be able to pull some sort of miracle, and actually make Lip and Arle different from each other. Woah, I haven't visited KRR for ages... so it almost shocks to read that someone saw my posts regarding this thing.

I remember proposing this as an idea for massive puzzle game crossover thing (something like Puyo Puyo X Tetris but in larger scale, even my idea predates PP X Tetris by years back). Hahah.

On Arle being in Smash, it wouldn't be half-bad. But I think Arle and her cast of characters are about as whimsical and personality-filled Mario-characters - I'd like to see a crossover between both series (Mario Kart would be perfect for Puyo Puyo's cast IMO)
