I am using non-homebrew, just the sd card in my wii. I tried a different sd card and still didn't work, so i'm really confused, and kinda disappointing because this looks amazingly fun.
i'm skipping a lot of this thread, so i don't know if this has been answered...

i had a similar problem as the guy you were quoting (and i'm assuming you). there was apparently some weird bug with gecko os that makes wiimotes not read and even dant couldn't help me fix it. he reccomended using riivo or something as an alternate means of loading pm.

if you've happened to get this fixed already, grats! if not, look into alternate loading methods.

It's essentially an xbox 360 controller with inverted face buttons and right stick. Playing smash with it wouldn't be hard at all. It's not like we're dealing with a wiimote here.

for reference.

@Raph: if we are lucky, we may not even need a PM2.....just saiyan.
I actually don't dislike that controller. The stick/button placement on the right side is kinda weird because of how the Wii U's sticks and stuff are, but other than that, I honestly wouldn't have too much of a problem using this controller for Smash. I just wish Nintendo would have used a more... creative design than the Xbox 360 controller template. I would have liked to see Nintendo harken back to 2001 and have something similar to a Gamecube controller be the new Wii U classic controller. But, this controller still seems very nice.

That controller is a pretty decent successor to the gamecube controller.

Not to say that it's better than the GC controller, but its not bad at all for a modern nintendo controller.

It's hella loads better than wiimote+nunchuk is basically what I'm tryin to say LOL

Although I do wish they switched the placement of the buttons and the right control stick, but I can get used to it.

oh. and btw I now own a dazzle.

WHOOOO EXPECT HELLA STREAM+ VIDEOS VERY SOON!

The thing I'm curious about is if we'll be able to hack mod the WiiU via Brawl and an SD card. :troll:

Yeah, I think so, too. Wiimote + Nunchuk is godawful for smash, lol. But I still wish Nintendo tried to come up with something more creative than just using the Xbox 360 controller template. :/
But the controller in itself I could see being pretty good for smash, especially since the ABXY buttons are close together, which could make it easier to do technical stuff.
Stick placement I'd have to get used to, but it wouldn't be too much of a problem.

Also, can't wait for the vids, daze! :D

My only issue with the U Pro Pad is that even if it's as comfortable as a 360 controller, I'll still prefer a GC controller by miles. I swear, it's probably the most comfortable controller I've ever used.

So, after experimenting with stuff, I'm fairly certain Ganon's new ground sideB is worse than his old one. What are your guys opinions on this?

I guess Nintendo felt they had to go back to the SNES controller template and be more in line with the rest of the industry.

I didn't use ganon's sideB a lot in Melee, but it's not like I mained him anyway, what uses did it have?

Yo, you live in vancouver?? :O How come I've never met you? (or have I? lol sorry)
Anyways, yeah man, come to stronghold and we can record/stream stuff sometime lol :p

Also as a side note, I heard rumours that the reason why nintendo stopped producing the gamecube controller (and stopped using its template for future releases) is because microsoft threatened to sue nintendo for using their design layout (even though nintendo used it first.. but yknow, microsoft is a bigger, more powerful company, so they can push nintendo around) and so nintendo stopped distributing their controller in stores, but continued to sell their remaining supply online on their website (a big middle finger to micrsoft lol). They reverted back to their snes layout from then on and now, (I guess cuz nintendo is salty against microsoft) I guess they used xbox's contoller template but switched up the position of the right stick and buttons to avoid the same fate as the GC controller. Lol

I just heard that from a friend though.

Really, Daze??? I don't think that THAT's the reason behind it 'cause the GC controller was out before the Xbox controller. Even though it's very likely because Microsoft (Read about Bill Gates and his treachery)

lol, although daze's friend's theory does sound a little outlandish, I actually wouldn't be surprised if that was the case.

no, reason why is some crazy indie company claimed nintendo stole the design of the Wavebird's features and the GC layout from them. they had to take it off the market, but then eventually won the case(afterlosing an earlier one IIRC) so they prettymuch just retired it(cause you don'texctly see them selling SNES controllers in store still, lol.) someone also tried suing them over the classic controller design and 3DS design after that. that's why they IMMEDIATEY filed the patent for the Wii-U controller after revealing it.

most of this info I got from some game magizine I can't remember.

Game Informer isn't as bad as most people make it out to be in my experience. They're kind of like IGN; they're one of the biggest names in the industry so they usually get game information first, but their reviews tend to be a bit iffy.

I remember Nintendo getting sued over the analog sticks in their controllers (as well as Sony and Microsoft), but don't know anything about the other lawsuits.

well with the classic Controller and Wavebird at least it was some patent violation thing.

JKT Iffy reviews my ***!! More like "Pay GI a considerable amount of cash and we'll make a review on your game to make it sound like it's as big and as great as Michael Jackson"
