Some videos are cool but I really just want to play and it's really hard with school and stuff.

I skip over a lot of S@X's videos on youtube now because it doesn't really interest me that much because of the Diddy/Kirby/M2 everywhere. Coney is kind of interesting me but it's still vs. Diddy and stuff. It just makes it really uughuhgugh.

Edit: .... Seriously though was PM lately devolved into only a handful of characters being used? That's tragic. I've not kept up with streams in a while.

Brah what I do about that is I watch MD/VA matches in small doses. I watch Texas, Chicago and Massachusetts PM more lol. Outside that I'm watching Walking Dead Season 2 let's play and Bayonetta 2.

Also from that local tourney I mention this past Saturday I got 5th and by mostly using Zelda and now everyone is gonna get on my butt about using Zelda now .

P:M has a lot more viable characters compared to Melee but VGBC is one of the biggest streams and Diddy/M2/Kirby/etc. are well represented there. P:M does have a couple potentially broken characters but current players aren't playing at that level yet which keeps other characters still viable.

I think the difference is that the mid-tier have more of a shot of challenging high tiers more so than most other smash titles, which does make it more appealing.

I dunno guys, I like S@X streams. Granted I get tired of seeing Diddy, but sometimes the things that people do with those characters are insane. Plus, S@X imo have a lot of personality in them, which makes them fun to watch.

Nah, Melee is still pretty diverse. You regularly see Fox, Falco, Sheik, Marth, Peach, Jiggs, Falcon, Ganon, ICs, Luigi. Our region also has a few Pikachu, YL, even G&W and Pichu players. I love playing Bowser, personally. He gets pooped on really hard though.

I disagree based on my own tournament viewing experiences with melee, but to each his own. But I do love nothing more than a hype Ganon holding his own against a pro A-tier (which is almost impossible).

I love what PM did to Bowser and I wish more ppl used him.

I would like to see this. I haven't seen a good gannon in a minute, PM or otherwise.

On that note, does anybody here know or recall the basics of how to contend with a marth as ganon in melee? I ask cuz some asshole at a bar beat me with him even though I was pristine with my shffl's. I know it's a hard match no matter what.

Its hard for ganon because marth can just dash dance around and abuse his better movement without comiting. Melee ganon is bad like PM ganon in that he doesn't have a way in or a way to control space if the opponent doesn't try to Challenge his Fairs.
All marth has to do is not give up ground. Most ganons will do a shffl Fair>jab/filt or empty jump>waveland in neutral because thats all he has. Marth can dash in and grab/dtilt between fair>move if hes fast, otherwise he can punish the move after or just pressure/take stage control. All marth has to watch out for are waveland>jab/tilt approaches in neutral if marth spaces a bit too close. Marth also has zero problems edge guarding ganon. Ganon might come back a few times from f-smashes, but ganon cant sweet spot the ledge so every d-tilt will just hit his head. Bair off stage also beats ganon's up-b.
Of course if ganon does get a hit, marth should kiss his stock goodbye because ganon punishes HARD and also has free edgeguards (tipmans (falling reverse up-airs) kill marth easily, he can also do the marth slayer and the ledge waveland>smash/tilt/grab whatever if marth goes on stage)

Its not a match between 2 shfflers, marth just wants to stay on the ground and do marth things and he wins neutral, while ganon has to **** his pants and hope he can get a lucky hit in. Its really rough for ganon, he has to maximize punishes and somehow ice-skate around marth's sword.

I don't think bowser is bad. He can wreck someone pretty bad if they don't know the matchup.

As a character, bowser has good tools (just like every character in PM).. but he doesn't really stack up too well against the current top tiers, and that's only because those characters are over the top. (a.k.a broken)

bowser being such a big target doesn't help either

yeah agreed, i was just trying to say he definitely has the tools to be a threat. He's significantly better than his Melee counterpart, yet he still doesn't fare too well against his competitors. That only leads me to believe that other characters were given too much.

Same goes for Ganon
