I liked that in the Animatedverse Superman was only a tough guy ******* to people that he really, really hated like Darkseid, Braniac or Luthor. And they used Superman's attitude toward these characters to examine who Superman is, and what Superman doesn't want to become by giving in to cynicism and hatred.
But now Superman is basically a tough guy ******* to everyone in the comics, which is considered the cool thing to do.
Agreed, you had to
earn his hatred, and that's tough in the DCAU, AS IT SHOULD BE WITH SUPES.
He's the Big Blue Scout; you have live and breathe terrible, monstrous acts.
And on that note, as far as I'm concerned, if the DC mainstays aren't done the way the DCAU did them, it doesn't count.
So, I don't read much of DC's actual comics.
