I try to tell him its like a sandbox game for fighters.. Combos are completely made on the fly and the characters differ on much more than just moves!

Dragon/Ground with levitate as its ability is actually extremely good, giving an excellent STAB combination and a solid list of resistances and a couple immunities.
Flygon's problem is exceptionally mediocre stats.
Flygon's problem is that it isn't Garchomp.

Yea its stats really aren't helping it at all. Garchomp can get away with murder thanks to its awesome attack and speed. Flygon has to pray it doesn't get 1 hit ko'd by an ice beam lol.
