No, in Melee it was 8 frames with no fail windows.
Though I dunno what was wrong with 16 frames. Or why the mechanic exists in the first place. I suppose after 64 they thought downwards hits were too strong but with the reduced hitstun in subsequent games I simply don't think it was necessary. The only Smash game that needed it is the only one that doesn't have it lol. Though if it is staying around, why are there exceptions?

You got hit by a slow, extremely powerful electric stomp by the King of Evil? Nah, you should be allowed to live.

A little birdie twirls in the air? You're ****ed.

Okay wtf I've read before that it didn't but looking into other places it appears that that is incorrect. Freakin hell it's hard to find accurate info about Melee sometimes.

Melee fail window is actually longer.

I have been humbled. I was just playing against a complete noob of a friend (doesn't even play PM, just Brawl, and he has zero tech skill whatsoever). No-item matches on mostly Tourney-legal stages (except we also played on Hyrule because it's kreygasm-tier YEEEEEAAH). I mostly went Falco because I want to get a feel for him.

I kept losing to him. Every match I would pull off a hype combo (like utilt x 4 > usmash > bair > dair as Falco) and then I would side-B into the stage. It's incredibly frustrating to overtextend myself and get beaten by a complete causal, ugh >_>.

Then again I have literally no tech skill either >_> All I can do is L-cancel and I suck at that too lmao

Just came back from a wedding of two friends of mine who I know through competitive PKMN it was pretty fun and one of the men of honor made a Gurren Lagann reference in his speech for the bride and groom it was pretty nice.

Already you were doomed to fail. Us Brawl guys are the sleeper hits of the Smash series.

I just realized that Samus's dash attack is based off shinespark.
It would be cool if the PM version had flash graphics for both her and the hit element if you hold a taunt button while using it.

Alright, first question. Where are you getting your audio from?
it also depends on what track you're putting the song over. each track has its own in game volume setting http://smashboards.com/threads/custom-song-volume.326024/
I got someone else to do it for me and they got the volume done right. So problem solved. xP

This is how I feel when I play Smash 4. :p

Like dammit I want to get my head wrapped around that game but I just can't seem to be able to. The game feels alien for a Smash game to me (and yes, even Brawl feels like a Smash game to me).

Game is weird.

Maybe it's because I play Smash 4 more than I play PM, but I've never understood this issue. I understand that things will feel jarring because of the differences in physics and whatnot, having to do less tech, and less movement options. Fundamentally I'm still doing the same thing, it takes a few games and I'm back into it. But then again, I'm fraudulent in Smash 4 and PM.

It isn't the case of the physics or anything like that (if it was a case of that I wouldn't like Brawl as much as I do rofl).

It is more of a case of I try to play neutral to best of my ability by trying to space my aerials and tilts and what not for set-ups (if applicable) and projectiles (if applicable) and focus on walking more then running since running is more of a commitment in Smash 4 and just try to play safe. But then my opponent just runs around every where like a maniac mostly just using smashes and dash attacks against me and destroy me and it just doesn't feel good when that happens. A contribute a lot of that to me not having the game figured out yet (and maybe not having been able to find a character that fits me in the game) but it stills feels incredibly embarrassing to lose to such a style of play.

I solved this problem by just playing puff in smash 4

really fun, good combos, can kinda gimp some, millions of rolls for you to rest, air movement still feels fine, only things you have to worry about is bad MUs and getting camped the **** out by rosalina/duckhunt/pacman/megaman/vilager, and you die off the top from so much jank so early

I still don't enjoy the game much but its tolerable when playing puff (Or when playing ryu dittos on fd)

Running is more of a commitment, but I don't think it means you should walk more than run. I'm watching EVO and CEO games, and any matches that weren't campy, generally had players running more than walking. They're just being safe about it; running up and shielding, jumping back, cross ups, rolling, etc.

Nairo comes to mind as someone who's always rushing down his opponent.

@ mimgrim mimgrim I guess the question is, are you enjoying the game? You said you want to wrap your head around it so I'd assume yes.
Kinda of a off an on thing right now.

It doesn't help that I've been playing Dark Souls 2 like an addict and make the only other game I allow myself to play while in my Dark Souls binge is Project M xD.

What characters have you tried out so far, and what sort of playstyle are you looking for?
I've tried just about all of them lol. And no idea.

Look at who you play in PM (and Brawl) and try to find something common about them.

Anyone get into the SFV beta?

This a little. I recommend giving everyone a run in something like arcade mode. In Ultra, I was going through a character crisis till I used Abel due to random select. Now he's my favorite and main. In a way, he kinda reminds me of Shulk and Thor in UMVC3.
