Rip it didn't work.

I could always just make another account named PMS | Vaporeon, but I really don't want to relinquish the things relegated to my current account.

Again.

Does anyone have a good tip how to stay focused and keep up high mental power for 10+ hours/day? Rather long-term, so nothing such as coffee or energy drinks, they'd only help shortterm. Heard some fitness exercises or perhaps meditation (?) could help but I don't have concrete knowledge what is most efficient.

In all seriousness; I'd recommend meditation.

Noticed your sig. Up for a game of Chess later?

Yes, of course. My tag changed btw, it is fT3g0 now. About my sig, I hate that they made that mental arithmetic thing only available for premium users. It always gave me back some self-esteem to see myself on rank #8 ever, and between #1-#3 in the monthly statistics.

Coffee helps.

Looking strong requires an intense amount of dedication, focus, and cognitive function.
It is not that much about looking strong, it is about getting better at chess.

Well, I think the determination is not the only part. At times I just feel mentally exhausted. Not tired, but every kind of processing takes longer and your thought chain often is lost, and some very abstract processes are even unaccessable. It is actually a pretty depressing state, because you are not able to sleep, nor doing anything for your aims.

1. Have the ability to get genuinely, righteously angry on a moment's notice in response to certain stimuli/you willing yourself into it.
2. Have ironclad self-control. (no exceptions!)
3. ???
4. PROFIT

How do you expect to get better at chess if you aren't that fully confident in surpassing your abilities?
How will you surpass your abilities if you don't stand tall?
How will you stand tall if you don't look really really strong?

Yeah, it's aggravating. Not everyone can pay for premium.

update: clicked it, instant regret
I clicked it...And my Web-Filter blocked it. Praise Web-Filter.

What'd you mean? I'm not even married. (I just finished a book that was rather Interesting at Times).
How are you people alive? I feel like death with 7 hours.
I can relate to this.
Get to bed any later 11:30 and I feel like @trash the next day.

Nah, you don't need to stand tall, it will only make the surprise effect stronger.
But if my "chess boot camp" (which is by no means opposed to Project M, heh, shots) has the side effect of physical fitness, I wouldn't really mind either.

@ Chesstiger2612 Chesstiger2612 If you're feeling mentally exhausted, take a break. Do something else for a while then come back when your brain is clearer. Take more if you need to. I cannot think of doing something for 10+ hours without some sort of intermissions, especially if it's something like chess. Make sure you get enough sleep as well.

I agree, I think determination is overrated. There are a few times where it can work, but it isn't some magical panacea for getting through life's problems. It's very limited and drains fast, so expecting to brute force your way through everything with sheer willpower alone will only leave you exhausted, frustrated, and likely flat on your ass. You want to strive towards making things as smooth as possible for you so you're able to get through things much faster and easier. Concrete goals and true motivators can also help drive you.

Thanks for the answer! Yeah, sleeping is very important. I need a bit more than average sleep but normally I can get enough sleep. The break thing is actually a good idea, normally I did somthing I considered semi-useful in that time, but a more efficient break could be helpful. Any tips what to do in those breaks?

I'll tell you later, on mobile atm.

Also: Try meditation, seriously. An hour a day is quite useful.

@ Chesstiger2612 Chesstiger2612 do you exercise regularly? I've found that I can avoid mental exhaustion if I simply make sure to get a good workout on a regular basis. Take the previous advice about breaks and go for a walk or a run, perhaps. It overall has helped me get sharper.

tournaments are cool as hell, I now know. a lot more PM players than I thought, too, it was actually about the same number as there were melee players this weekly? being able to see good players in person is incredibly surreal, because I'm used to everyone in smash just being a figment of the internet's imagination that I communicate through computers, but it's neat. also, I like @ | Big D | | Big D | because I no longer look like the unruly giant person when he's in the room, man is nearly 7 foot tall it's nuts

I wish I was able to stick around, but I didn't know sunday transit and I was worried that I'd have to walk to royal oak station, watch the main VSB stream so I don't feel bad pls http://www.twitch.tv/vanstreetbattle

(guess who's got two thumbs and went 0-2 in every single pool set)
Yeah it's cool we're starting up PM again. The new venue/TOs are god like. There's even a chance of reviving Brawl as well.

Oh yeah while I'm here though Odds is a fraud and Ripple has an ego the size of Dedede lololololol.

Speaking of usernames, it would be lovely if I could just have "Star" without this special snowflake next to it. The actual @Star hasn't used his account since 2012 and has no post count, I can't even get onto his profile for some reason. Last time I asked the moderation team I was told that you cannot have the name of another user, regardless of how active they were/are.

@ Bleck Bleck what do you think?
In lieu of a response from myself, here's a post a friend of mine made on the Facebook status I made on this topic.

I want to make one point as a person who admittedly emotionally disengaged from the tv show a long time ago, and therefore is not 100% sure that every detail of my point is accurate. Feel free to correct me. But, we are now up to three **** scenes that didn't exist in the book (or, 2.5, if we take Dany's as just a stand in for the all the times she was ***** later in the relationship with Drogo), and surprise, they all happened to women. So, every time the showrunners have decided that a **** would make the plot more exciting or easier to follow, a female character who otherwise would have been going on her merry way not being ***** is *****. Obviously I'm being sarcastic but in Sansa's case, it's pretty accurate, if you know where she is and what she's doing at the end of book 5 compared to the tv show. Well, that's accurate, you might say—**** is a crime that is more likely to be committed against women, so they're just being "realistic" (realistic to an imagined world with an imagined gender hierarchy and imagined power struggles). Okay, fine. But what about other forms of violence? Where are the main male characters who are getting their heads chopped off just because that is an accurate portrayal of life in Westoros? Or castrated? Or otherwise horrifically maimed or injured? I know of only one major male character who was recently killed in the tv show despite being alive at the end of book 5. Maybe there are more, because as I said, I'm not watching. But this whole idea that, oh, they're adding in **** for character development, oh, they're adding in **** for the sake of compressing the story—well, then why aren't they compressing the story or adding character development by making any of the mens' lives more abjectly awful than they were in the books? Benioff and Weiss force their female characters to be stand ins for women in general, taking away the individual stories that made them such varied, interesting people in the books.

Yeah, I got told they have no policy on that, so no-can-do.

Luckily; @Mansuta八 is just gonna let me borrow premium. PMS | Vaporeon it is.

Why is it better when a background character has something horrible happen to them (like this scene happened to them in the book) but is way worse to you when it is a main character? Do their insignificant lives not matter as much? Is this point of view character tainted and ruined for you now Bleck? If it is foreshadowed (which it was) and the aftermath is written well then that gives it plenty of context.

The Cersei one had no plot-related reason to be there, and then was forgotten about so I can see the trepidation from that. The reasoning behind the other scenes is pretty obvious when you think about it. S-word does happen to main characters even if you can't think of them at the moment.

But if people want to jump to conclusions without seeing what the show is going to do because the books = the show to them, that is just poor reasoning on their part.

did you even read the posts made here on this topic or are you doing the reddit-tier ****poster thing where you imagine an easily criticized opinion and then pretend that other people must share it

I read your post, if you didn't agree with your friends opinion you should have said so.

I didn't see this discussion that happened on the night of, but I have seen other opinions on the net that definitely match what I am saying about the be all and end all that is the books and how maybe art shouldn't ever depict something like this no matter the context or how it is shot.

It brings out a lot of emotion and opinions on the topic of what is appropriate to do in film and television believe it or not.

so what you're saying is that you're doing literally the exact thing that I just said

I'm gonna suggest again that you read the posts on the topic before trying to have an opinion

Yeah, that it is unnecessary for the plot without actually knowing what the plot is going to be. That is some great mind-reading you guys have there.

Or this part I addressed:

S-word does happen to main characters even if you can't think of them at the moment.
