Hey guys, I'm in a bit of a bind getting 3.0 working myself.

It took me a bit of looking around to find out that you needed to put the Project M folder that came with the .zip into the root of the SD to get the game working. Does this mean that the 'private' folder is no longer needed, or...?
Also, I've currently followed the usual steps that I took when I 'manually' installed the last couple of P:M demos (so all the necessary files seem to be there), but currently I seem to have the same issue some others were having, that being that it just loads vBrawl now, with the exception of PT's individual Pokemon having their own spots on the character selection screen.
I renamed the 'project m' folder to 'untitled', and I'm still having no luck. I've been using USB Loader as of current, as the Wii I own isn't a US one.

I'm certain I missed something, but I feel like I've done everything else right so far.
The SD card cannot be named 'projectm' otherwise things will not load properly. The root of the SD card should contain three folders; codes, projectm, and apps(IIRC). Do not rename the projectm folder. If you do this, things will not load properly. Also, if you are USB loading, make sure you are using an NTSC-U Brawl ISO.

Hmm, I inferred that what some of the other posters were saying is that the folder had to be specifically rename 'untitled'. I'll make sure I remedy that and see what happens.

And yeah, I'm definitely using an NTSC-U Brawl ISO, as that's what I've been using since I started playing P:M.

EDIT: Yep, that most certainly fixed the issue. Thank you, MonkUnit. ^__^

I truly hope the majority of the smash scene supports this game, because this could//will be the alternative to smash 4. (Which I'm not really excited about...)

is it just me that can't download the new demo? Every time i click on the link to start the download, it just redirects me to the homepage (which also still says that the Current Public Version is v2.6b, despite there being a big bold Project M 3.0 Released! directly below it)

Man, can't get this to work.
Same .iso I've been using for years, coparino pastarino right from the download, renamed sd card to untitled, aaaand then it just loads up the codeset without the files.

So I'm still having issues. I'm on a SDHC named "untilted" and it loads regular brawl. Except the CSS has PT two Warios and the starter pokes. It freezes if move on them. I can still wavedash and curry activates Turbo. Idk what's going on. Could someone just give me a complete specific step-by-step guide to this. I'm new to Gecko.

man this **** is frustrating
the game only loads the codeset, not the files so I'm getting a wonky vBrawl more or less
it's loading the codeset through the built-in ocarina in cfg-usb loader or whatever, same way I've been doing it for a long time :p
my sd card isn't named anything weird with spaces or whatever, and everything was copied straight into the root
does having other things on the SD card cause any issues, like my boot mii folder, wad folder, and the usb loader folder? can't imagine why it would but what do I know

first time things haven't gone smoothly for me with PM

the root of the sd card should have three folders of PM stuff. codes, projectm, and apps(iirc)

try going to the IRC for help too

My initial problem was assuming I had to take the stuff out of the "projectm" folder and go through the old "private" folder and put stuff in there. Turns out I just had to place the "projectm" folder in the root of the sd card. Also because of this, you need to make sure your sd card isn't named anything like ProjectM or the game will get confused and not load the files from the proper locations.

alright nevermind
got this working
my usb loader had an old codeset in its own codes folder, never had been an issue until now, and it wasn't even loading the codeset from there, but it was causing issues for whatever reason

edit:
every time I use Roy's new uptilt I kind of die a little inside because I expect it to hit in front of him first and when he doesn't I look like a goofer

that new bowser advanced tech
tutorial: hold L or R while stage is loading
?????
profit
It's only R, and you have to do it from the character select screen, but yes.

It's amazing.

Thanks Strong Bad (and other PMBR members) for sharing that with us on Bryonato's stream!!!

Umm...

...the limit is one.

Also, do not do this in the solo modes. The bosses have about 500 times as much HP and the enemies can be anywhere from 10-100 times as much resistant to knockback as they normally are.

New Bowser Challenge: SSE, Giga Bowser, Intense only
I tried Boss Run Mode, and no. Just no.

The bosses have about 500 times as much HP on all the difficulty levels. I'm not kidding.

Also, I did Classic on Intense. I lost 4 stocks on the second-to-last match against "Team Sonic" (10 Sonic's) after 2 of them got Smash Balls and went Super Sonic on me.

I got some weird 1 hit KO death by some weird hitbox of a Master Hand or Crazy Hand attack.

I have a question that one of the PMBR may be able to shed light on. Does the Hackless Full Set have the Replacement Soundbank Engine codes in it already? If so, you just need to put sawnd files in the folder for it to work, right? I was transferring some of my old custom content and saw the SFX file.

BTW, the Colors slider on the character portraits makes putting in textures hell for someone that likes uniformity. Editing so many pictures!

The new version feels great, but does anyone else think that the icons in front of the character portraits on the CSP makes using custom portraits a little more difficult? I've been trying to update my 3.0 to have all/most of the stuff my 2.6b version did and it just leads to the game freezing because of the CSPs.

Project M isn't really designed with the intention of allowing you to use custom content. It's intended to make the best "Project M" possible. If that comes at the expense of its customizability, then so be it.

Heeey, havent got to try 3.0 yet, but does it feel a bit different from 2.6b? As in movement and whatever. Was the 1 frame physics lag issue resolved?

Tink feels soooooooooooo good in 3.0.
You're welcome.

@Khlx: Also even without that the game manages to feel a lot smoother

Finally, vs CPUs if you feel like your combos and stuff don't work as well as they used to, don't fret. I helped with some of the AI testing and this is a funny little thing that happened to me one of the times:

[7:16:43 AM] DRB | Juushichi: ai di's very well
[7:17:04 AM] DRB | Juushichi: their survival di is great
[7:17:12 AM] DRB | Juushichi: as an example:
[7:17:34 AM | Edited 7:17:42 AM] DRB | Juushichi: on FD, I wall jump daired falcon as he tried to recover from a falcon dive with falco
[7:18:21 AM] DRB | Juushichi: he SDIed to the ledge, on the ledge... slid across the stage and AMSA teched on the left side of FD

I feel like a moron for my problem anyways. Turns out I had the compression for some of the files set to none instead of L277. I don't remember changing that, but my mouse must have slipped and set it to that, so it's my bad.

I know it's not designed with the purpose of being customizable, but customizing my own build was always one of the most enjoyable aspects of this fantastic game. But, like you said, if making it the best it can be comes at the expense of that, so be it, and it's fine by me. Outside of wanting to customize it to look the way I like, the selection bars look fine and have a very Street Fighter "alt costume" feel to them on their own.

Also... that day when your 4-day weekend because of two snow days becomes a 5-day weekend because a third snow day.

There's something called salt, I heard it was really good at lowering the freezing point of water and making roads drivable...

That's so cool - is there a way to do this so that the computer spawns as Giga Bowser? I'm gonna try later today when I get a chance, haha.
