I hope the system at SDSU eases it on the scheduling.@ Grey Belnades you finish in June? I'm guessing your school is on the quarter system? UCLA finishes then as well, and they use quarters instead of semesters. I hated it personally, I couldn't actually go hang out with my friends who were on the sane schedule.
I think using likes as a metric is a bad idea because there are people who like literally every post, and then people who only like a few here and there. You simply can't use it as a good measure of who reads your posts and who doesn't, I feel. There's unfortunately no way to get a full measurement of who reads what. But, I will agree that it's always rather nice to have people like your posts.I though my posts had decent spacing, and I actually usually tend to be concerned that I have too many line breaks, but looking back at it, does seem like it could use a few more, even though you said it's not an issue with my posts specifically.
Hm, yeah, I know that not every post has to packed, but I really love dense posts and I usually don't like to do posts that are too light in content unless I really feel the need to post.
And why do you think using likes as a metric is a bad idea? Most other users seem to like posts fairly liberally, and I personally take it as a sign people bothered to read my post, and while I want to speak my mind the way I want, the fear that nobody will bother to read what I'm saying if I don't make it really short, like in cases of a post saying something identical to mine but shorter getting lots of more likes, I just take that as nobody reading mine, and I think I just really love the idea of having my posts liked as well.
And I'll try to avoid being insecure about nobody reading my posts, but it really just feels like a complete waste of my time if I make a long post that nobody replies to or engages with it by liking, and to a lesser degree the feeling that people just disregard me, I have enough managing my free and not so free time, so if nobody replies to something I spent a while typing, it I just really get the feeling I should be doing something else more productive/fun/interesting instead of posting here/where ever.
You'll be proud, I'm going to be teaching kids/adults how to row fast and look strong doing soView attachment 51622
Now put in a good word for me.
I hope the system at SDSU eases it on the scheduling.
ayyyyyy lmao I found that image yesterday while searching random crap in the internet.just finished my term paper ayyyy
time to binge-watch Evangelion while stoned out of my mind
Well half the problem with GX's story mode is that it forces you to use Blue ****ing Falcon, which is among the if not the worst vehicle in the game, trying to do an MTS with it or even just shift boosting is hard as ****, thats why most opt to just go for time trials, usually in black bull, just beacuse going for an MTS in that ship is probably the most fun thing in the game. And without a doubt I'd say that GX is harder than melee, even from a CPU standpoint alone, when you're first learning, those ****ers are vicious.YES. CGN is insane. I wish I was even half as good as he was at F-Zero GX. I'm still having issues with Story Mode Very Hard. Shift-Boosting is super fun when I can get it, though.
I'm honestly wondering if it's actually the most technical racing game out there. At least, it's one of the most technical games Nintendo's ever put out. I think it matches Melee in that regard.
good choicejust finished my term paper ayyyy

I think I'm seeing a pattern
This sounds both adorable and so very sad. Things get better!I post here in the hope that one day one of you will fall madly in love with me and move to Florida to be my SO.
I dunno, a lot of melee players(new and old) seem to just want to play Melee forever. Even if PM is changed to be more like Melee, I highly doubt most of them would switch their focus.so you're saying that people will pay money for a spiritual successor to melee?
hmmm if only there were one of those
Hm, I guess that's kinda true, but I still can;t help but take it as an indication of something when people who normally like every post skip one, or when people who rarely likes posts does, both for reading and just general interest in what I'm saying.I think using likes as a metric is a bad idea because there are people who like literally every post, and then people who only like a few here and there. You simply can't use it as a good measure of who reads your posts and who doesn't, I feel. There's unfortunately no way to get a full measurement of who reads what. But, I will agree that it's always rather nice to have people like your posts.
Just do as @Smooth Criminal says and post. If you want people to reply to what you type, ask questions, raise points, converse with what people are saying. I've noticed people respond to you in the past, so it's hardly the case that people are ignoring you. I think you may have an expectation that people will respond to every post you make, and that's not quite accurate. If someone wants to, they will. Sometimes they won't. It's really just that simple.
But, if you feel like you're wasting your time posting here, then take a step back and ask yourself why you post here in the first place. For me, it's a fun little diversion in speaking to people who share some interests with me. I've got free time this week, so I'm posting a lot lately. Next week, that's going to change and my posts are probably going to become much sparser. But if you don't have the time to be on here, then there's no need to force yourself to consistently post, unless you want to. I certainly wouldn't, to be frank.
I missed replying to this earlier, but what job did you get?I got the job
Hhhnnnggggggghhhhh I got the job
Eh, I'll try, although I still really kinda do like them. Have a good night, and good luck with your Calculus final!@ Kurogal I was writing a lengthy post comparing the likes to SF4 Volt's BP points but the fact that I should have went to bed a couple hours ago coupled with the fact that tomorrow (well, today actually) I have my calculus 2 final is making it very difficult for me soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo likes don't mean anything and moreover they are completely useless. Just post what you like and how you like it to be posted and don't do it if you don't want.
I've never watched eva high before, and I've got some edibles, so I'm ready to have my mind blowngood choice
the first time I watched eva I was really high and the intro brought me near to tears
I don't know if I would love it as much as I do if I wasn't so enthralled by it the first time I watched it because I was high
It is. Nerves happen and you're like, SHIELD DROP AWGH though. Is it just me or is shield dropping as simple as applying the speed one uses to start a fast walk to a downwards motion instead of left or right on the control stick?
they're right - recoding the game to enable online play is a significant undertaking, and there's not really any reason for them to do that with MeleeI said that it wouldn't make sense to make remakes of not-so-outdated games and it would be better to make remastered editions (higher texture resolution, better lighting effects, etc) maybe with some new thingies and also said that releasing F-Zero GX and Melee with online would be easy money for Nintendo.
A couple of guys said that it would be stupid because there's already Sm4sh.
Yeah, I think most melee heads just want melee and nothing else. If a new IP came out and didn't have a 1:1 melee fox analog, it would probably be disregarded pretty quickly as jank and trash.I dunno, a lot of melee players(new and old) seem to just want to play Melee forever. You'll remember one some day. I believe in you.I can't remember a single dream I have at all. Am I supposed to remember dreams? lol
There are ways to improve dream recognitionI can't remember a single dream I have at all. Am I supposed to remember dreams? lol
It took me a long time to realize it, but there are people who like to play Smash, and there are people who like play spacies.Yeah, I think most melee heads just want melee and nothing else. If a new IP came out and didn't have a 1:1 melee fox analog, it would probably be disregarded pretty quickly as jank and trash.
Well, of course it wouldn't be a 5 min job, but it wouln't need as many resources (money and time) a new game would need and they still would get some nice money from nolstalgic people and people new to the franchise (if they put it at a reasonable price) while also making it seem like they care about the "hardcore" part of their consumers, something they started working on fairly recently.they're right - recoding the game to enable online play is a significant undertaking, and there's not really any reason for them to do that with Melee
they'll probably just develop a new F-Zero before they go and retrofit an old one with online play
also I really want to play mvc2so you're saying that people will pay money for a spiritual successor to melee?
hmmm if only there were one of those
I agree as R&M doesn't pull any punches. Korra will always be compromised from its true potential as a teen action-adventure show by Nickelodeon standards and practices.Dude Rick and Morty is one of my favorite American cartoons to come out in a long time. I think I like it more than Legend of Korra tbh.
I'm actually not a teacher, haha. I'm a tutor and grad student who also TAs for a few classes. I'm getting a Master's in Computer Science. I've found that while I like teaching and helping others understand things, it's not quite what I want to do. I do have to go over papers, but it's largely papers on technical stuff as well as peer-editing things for other grad students. I don't have an english degree. My own writing on here is pretty mediocre, it's mostly just stream of consciousness. The words I type are pretty much the ones going through my head.So you're a teacher, right? What do you specialize in, and do in general? You said that you have to review papers so you have experience critiquing writing, right?
Well, this is probably gonna be pretty random, but this is the start of a rather lengthy exchange I had with somebody on the issues of, due process, defaming, and the treatment of woman in smash in the comments of a news article about Alex Strife. I never had any sort of debate lessons like a class and also I was posting some of those things when I was really tired, so I think most of what I said had no point, but could you critique it and tell me how I can improve my arguments if you have the time?
I think it's less about Fox and more that they enjoy the meta that Melee has built, which...just so happens to have a lot of Fox. A new IP can still work out just fine, you just need to not go for that exact audience. There will be bleed over from Melee players, just due to the nature of the genre and how few of these games there are, but you're really just better off building the kind of game you want, and attracting the audience you want to appreciate it.Yeah, I think most melee heads just want melee and nothing else. If a new IP came out and didn't have a 1:1 melee fox analog, it would probably be disregarded pretty quickly as jank and trash.
But MvC2 is Mahvel. The "It's Mahvel bby" was used as a way of telling new players that it was difficult to understand what was going on in that game unless you played it when they went all WTF when looking at people playing it. Then everyone started using it for MvC3 just bcuz and it lost his meaning.also I really want to play mvc2
but it's hella old, the learning curve is basically a brick wall (like cs 1.6), and even if I managed to get good, there's a lack of tournaments and people playing it because umvc3 killed it
I want to play marvel not mahvel
ie someone should remake mvc2 as a mod or de-stupidify umvc3
no you're actually rightBut MvC2 is Mahvel. The "It's Mahvel bby" was used as a way of telling new players that it was difficult to understand what was going on in that game unless you played it when they went all WTF when looking at people playing it. Maybe I'm completely wrong but this is how I remember it.
"One of"Dude Rick and Morty is one of my favorite American cartoons to come out in a long time. I think I like it more than Legend of Korra tbh.
It's unlikely that the Melee community is sizable enough to justify the development of an online-enabled re-release - other fighting games, like Street Fighter, have been able to get away with it because their community isn't as fractured as Smash' is (as a SF player that plays SF2, SFA, SF3 and SF4, I can attest to this) - most Street Fighter players are going to buy Street Fighter games.Well, of course it wouldn't be a 5 min job, but it wouln't need as many resources (money and time) a new game would need and they still would get some nice money from nolstalgic people and people new to the franchise (if they put it at a reasonable price) while also making it seem like they care about the "hardcore" part of their consumers, something they started working on fairly recently.
