I just got 4 stocked multiple times online by dirtboy and his squirtle. I'm definitely giving up DDD post Aftershock.

SO MUCH BULL****. I can't throw waddles, I can't shield, I can't grab, I can't even aerial. its so ****ing stupid.

hell, I can't even bair him if he crosses me up because he so short.

The problem with people is that they dont realize all it takes to stuff any of Squirtle's approaches is just seeing where he's gonna be and putting a hitbox out for him to fling himself into

Plateprop that's the stupidest advice you can give for any matchup. What if the squirtle just waits for him to put out a hitbox and then punishes the endlag? That's just how a huge level of high level smash plays out, you safely pressure someone with positioning until they get nervous and try to stop your approach with preemptive hitbox. You just have to wait a little longer than that and you win neutral. Alternatively they can approach from an angle that your hitbox doesn't cover. Not many characters have sheik's ftilt or zard's jab. Not only do you have to predict WHEN they approach but also how. Meanwhile they can kinda just wait.
If there's any character that can threaten with position, it's the character with the longest SH approaches in the game- squirtle

I said predict where he's gonna be and put a hitbox there.

Maybe try turning around so that he hits the back of you when he crosses up and abuse your huge ass grab range

is zss also a masochistic character because I think I'm going to start playing her rather than luigi

then again luigi is also p masochistic because he hurts my hands because I clench too much while wavelanding

and I also play wario but wario is kinda unfulfilling I either get my butt handed to me by a mid level shiek but then poop on a much better falco player simply because of dsmash into side b tech reads and wario's ability to poop on falco offstage
when I lose it feels like I can't do **** and when I win it just feels like I didn't do anything

**** I don't even play wario that much I play luigi more because he's more fun (and luigi is melee so I end up playing him more often because no pm friends) but I'm better with wario blehhhh

I mean, the only way Squirtle can change direction out of a super rar or ss jump is straight up because they jump again, or backwards because they withdrawed, so it's not really like you cant tell where he's gonna go

he feels marginally better when I do that but it still feels like I have to cater what I want to do to the character

the best analogy i can think of is driving a skidsteer as opposed to driving a regular front turning car
you can do the same thing and sometimes do it better but it feels so unnatural and you have to do so much more weird positioning and moving around to get to a place where you could just point and go in a normal car

this is what draws me to zss tbh she feels like I can do anything. her limits are easily noticeable but they dont feel real they just feel like something I can work around. they're not frustrating they're just a given
like how a car is confined by physics but you can work around that by manipulating tire grip and drifting and et cetera

I will accept any Squirtle's MM at Aftershock. I've actually gotten the impression that Dedede wins the MU if the player is familiar enough with the Squirt, and would like to test that.

But yeah.. as people can see, I haven't been active on Smashboards in a good long while, but I've been very active in my region's tourney scene, the Socal PM facebook group (which I admin), and in the dev room. Socal is very under the radar, and 90% of our tourneys go unrecorded/unstreamed, but you're going to see myself and a lot of our family at Aftershock.
