I wanna see a Smash character who uses Pichu's "hurts themselves" gimmick, but like actually taken seriously. What Nintendo character would fit though?

While Pichu was pretty much trash and a joke, the idea can work. There was a fighting game released about 2-3 years called Under Night: In-Birth which featured a character called Carmine. His playstyle was that his special moves used up his own health. In return, he was very strong.

Too strong, indeed. In the first version of the game Carmine was borderline broken. It didn't matter that he hurt himself with his specials, he had such amazing stage control, damage, and combos that he was pretty much the best character in the game till the devs clocked him with the nerfbat in the later editions. It didn't help that he had a passive health regen (it was suuuuuuper slow, but still enough) AND could restore health with a throw and a super (they got rid of the passive regen for later versions it seems). Even after the nerf he's still a pretty damn good character.

A character like that in Smash, especially P:M, would be interesting. The ultimate risk-reward character: you're overwhelmingly strong, but you can't waste any specials and must end it quickly because if you don't you'll put yourself in kill percent for the opponent. On the other hand, if your opponent smacks you around to kill percent, you might as well go nuts since the difference between, say, 140% and 240% doesn't really matter, you're gonna die quickly at both. On second thought, this might need some work to actually mesh well with a percent platform fighter.

I actually have a character like that in my platform fighter, but given that it exists only on paper, that's not really much to brag about.

When you engage in discussion and arguments, expect others to dismantle your points that they find fallacious. This is what it means to engage in open discourse on a public forum: people will call you out on something they find objectionable, and will do so matter of factly, since many of us are all adults here that generally speak our mind regardless of our sensibilities, since we are not children needed to be pandered to. People clearly explaining the mechanics of the game to you and arguing is not being "dragged through the dirt", and is just an attempt to shift the blame. Your arguments just did not stand to scrutiny.

I'm not trying to be mean: I'm trying to prepare you since this thread discusses a variety of topics under the sun and arguments/debates on many topics is to be expected.

Also, a lot of users in this thread will engage in playful banter constantly (some would attribute it to ****posting). People have a lot of fun here, so it would be wise to not take seriously everything someone says here.

Now, if you want to continue the prior discussion on movement, a good place to start would be to watch the video @Hylian posted, which he has asked you to watch on at least two occasions but was ignored completely.



Video gaming in general is meritocratic. A large portion of users do not care: they only care if you are good or not, or know what you are talking about. This is true for Smashboards.

The thing is, I am running...

I can do it with Smashes just fine but tilts are another story. I can do it with dtilts, but the others just make me do a smashes because I smash the control stick too hard.

The thing about tilts is you literally only have to tilt you control stick a miniscule amount. The trick to doing frame one tilts is to find the sensitivity on your stick that registers as a tilt input and train yourself to do that. I learned the sensitivity when I picked up Ice Climbers in Melee.

i agree, ive had bad skin forever, but its also partially because of some weird ass genetic **** that ****s up like half my family (my sisters skin literally begins to peel off if she has prolonged exposure to scented stuff, prolly allergies or something)

tbh I've always had an idea kicking around of an EX-like move in smash that makes you take damage for a really high-knockback move, so an awful dmg/knockback wise upb from mario could kill by like 80% when EX

AZ has a very neat project m scene already. being in between two amazing PM scenes can only help that, really, and considering socal in particular has the source of the lucario measles, you get to learn some important matchups when they bother traveling
