I like literally all of the ones in this post, so these comparisons are lost on me.

And yes, I like Sawk and Throh solely because of...this.

One of the very few things I liked about Best Wishes.
That's fair; I honestly don't hate any Pokemon, except for maybe Jiggs, but that's because of Smash. Sawk and Throh just always struck me as "Could have been Hitmon-somethings." And I never really liked their designs. and also Alomamola. (Why the **** wasn't it a Luvdisc evolution?)

Eh, y'know; subjective art is subjective and all that.

I was a huge fan of almost everything in Gen 6, personally, so people complaining about Gen 6 designs baffles me.

"Having everything be totally fair would boost the competitive aspect, but runs the chance of it no longer being about playing a game."

...I don't even have a witty retort for this.

Just...what?

I swear, I will never understand this guy's way of thinking.
...I think I just threw up a bit in my mouth. What the hell goes on in your head, Sakurai?!

This image still rings true for me in terms of Pokemon designs.

I mean even Ken Sugimori thinks he should make the designs less complex in Gen 7; so I'm expecting more of a Gen1-2 feel. Natural progression/regression of art, I suppose.

In terms of being overdesigned, that is very true.

Geodude is a boulder with attitude and muscular arms. Simple and to the point. Fun design for a rock creature.

Today he would have steel spikes everywhere, stripes around his eyes and have no discernable face to have a clear expression with.

Being able to patch the game this time around allows us to adjust the balance anytime we want. However, if we took the balance feedback we pick up from online stats and certain hardcore fans at face value, that could make the game less fun and/or destroy the balance. We attempt to maintain a wide dynamic range with the balance, so I feel like we need to watch that we don’t over-adjust in a negative direction, like cutting down abilities or trying to have all characters playable on an equal basis. Having everything be totally fair would boost the competitive aspect, but runs the chance of it no longer being about playing a game. Mediocrity would be the worst thing for this.
It's funny because the exact same thing he said would happen, happened in project M during the transition from 3.0 to 3.5

People complained that their characters weren't as fun, the nerfs ruined their character, people dropped their mains, some people stopped playing, and whatnot, all for a healthier competitive experience.

I get the feeling that he understands exactly what we want, but he feels that if he changes the balance it will destroy the fun factor of the game. However, I don't think he understands that we don't necessarily want overhauls that completely destroy the aspects of the characters, but minor patches that clears out the bits of jank that exist in that game, and powers up those who are just a bit lackluster.

What he really doesn't understand is that even in hectic scenarios, the characters that are the strongest in a 1v1 scenario, tend to still shine in every other scenario. I think the only exception to that is time matches, but even the people unfamiliar with smash tend to play with stock as opposed to time. (in regards to his wide range of balance, which is supposed to accommodate the various gamemodes)

Since he values fun over competitive viability, I don't expect any major changes being made to any of the characters.
But based on his mindset, he may still entertain the possibility of patching out things that he considers fun destroying or what not.

Everyone spam HOO-HA in for fun mode, that will get it removed. :troll:

If Sakurai didn't want mediocrity he would try to make less characters in his Smash games so, so mediocre to play as.

So he could try to balance the game to the point that every character was more fun to play as instead of just nerfing from the top like he seems to be thinking.

But I don't think he wants to get deeply involved at this point so he rather not touch it in case it makes things worse.

What other Pokémon is a discarded husk of another one and is immune to most attacks

The best part is in the comments a casual has more elitism than a competitive player.

Ayy Lmao
They traditionally are, gotta protect the virgin Samurai Nintendo sama from the evil competitive Reich. Seriously though this idiocy is leaking from Smash/Nintendo into other games and even tangible aspects of life, is our generation really so terrified of success, achievement, and being actual human beings that they feel the need to lash out against those who have found something they care for, took the time to learn about, or god-forbid excel at. Or maybe the vocal minority of stupid people has just been booted into the spotlight via social-media, probably both, I should stick to lurking.

Casual Elitism sounds hilariously ambiguous though.

Voted Yes because the default music on most of the viable stages sucks and/or should be replaced by much better choices.

Although gonna second Binary on the whole turning music off thing.

Custom music in the netplay build sounds like a bad idea for all the peeps that stream and don't like getting muted :|
Pretty good point. If we we're doing custom music I'd definitely go with VG remixes only, no copyrighted songs at all. There's always the option of muting the sound and playing your own music.

If you're going to turn off music anyways, please vote No because that makes the filesize significantly smaller.

WatchMojo video dump and I know people view this thread from different parts of the world and what not so these vids are chosen out of interest and they are recent as well. Viewer Discretion is adviced.

Also speaking of pokeman talk WatchMojo did a video on Pokemon games.
