Break in between midterms means I finally have time for smash for like, a day or two, no clue.

My friends and I are going to be starting up a PM weeklies thing soon and are trying to decide on a name for the series. What are the backstories behind your weeklies/tourneys/whatever they're called?
Gaming Generations Month/Day/Year

our venue is called Gaming Generations and then we just put the date after it. we're so goddamn original

A bit out of the blue, but I am going to marathon the daylights out of the Muvluv VNs(yes, all 3 of them) starting tonight.
I...don't know if my feels are ready.
But what I do know is that I hope that I may find the bravery to guide this particular tale of 'love and courage' to a good end for all.

my main is Dr. Mario because he is ****ing amazing. It takes skill to win because hes a low mid tier.
I know this is a few pages late but

1. >it takes skill to win because he's a low tier
First, tierlists are merely speculations of what the metagame is. Especially for a game like smash four where the meta is so underdeveloped, being midtier doesn't rally mean that much. Second, a character can be brainless but simply have unwinnable matchups leading to them being midtier

2. picking a low tier character because it "takes more skill to win" is not a sign of skill, it's a sign of a scrub mentality. People only choose characters they think they can win with or do best with. No successful pro chooses a character that they don't think is optimal. For the longest time, Armada played Peach because he felt that he could get the same level of success with peach that he could playing with Marth or spacies but that the slightly lower techskill of peach meant he could be more consistent. I play luigi in melee because it's the character I feel most comfortable with, I used to main marth but I just simply didn't feel as in control and now my luigi performs better than my marth. All top players in PM play their character because they think that it has inherent advantages that allows them to perform their best. Neon began playing lucas because he felt that he could develop lucas-specific techskill to a really high level. Once 3.5 came around, he no longer felt that lucas had that potential that he could develop to win, so he switched to wolf.

tl;dr: play to win anything else is being a scrub

there is a skill in being competent enough to pick the right character, in the same way knowing which stage to pick in a counterpick requires skill. sometimes that right character may not fit in well with top tier stardom, like axe and his pikachu, but he wins matches, because how you connect with the character is what matters most. likewise, some characters can be so bad, that there's no good connection at all to make due to there being no advantages, which is why low-tiers in smash never win tournaments.

if, in melee, a fox 3-0s a kirby, it doesn't matter how far the gap between the tier list is. the fox player was the more skilled player, because the fox mattered more to him than the kirby did for his opponent.

Too much. Glaceon is easily my favorite Eeveelution based on design alone and all the others just made it even better/worse. Too much cuteness.
It is impossible to hold that many kyuns

People ask me how they make the new pokemon designs so ****ty.

Thats the secret,

They've always been ****ty.
Tell them the designs got worse because they themselves got older, and to doublecheck some past designs.

I don't think Pokemon designs really ended up any better or worse, they just changed stylistically into something a little more cartoony and a little more cute, really it's just the work of different groups of artists looking different, go figure.

Nah guys, the nostalgia argument doesn't excuse the fact that with Generation 5 (excluding some of the more animalistic designs) Pokémon took a turn for the worst, as in no longer even half of them being good.

With Gen 6 even Game Freak realized that their crappy new Pokémon weren't going to sell **** so now we mostly just get Megas from the first 4 generations.

Psh. Every gen, literally every one has their goods and bads. Their Charizard and their Jynxes, their Houndoom and their Dunsparce, their Flygon and their Castform, etc.

Gen 5 had Sawk and Throh (UGH...) but it also had Volcarona. It goes on like this. You can literally never please everyone.

Gen 5 probably started moving away from animals because they were running out

Whenever they make new eevee evolutions they get complained at for being unoriginal, whenever they don't, they get complained at for not having already done it. No matter what they do they'll be complained at (welcome to being a popular game franchise btw) but to be honest I don't mind having pokemon based on... not animals. Would've liked to avoid having them based on food, though.

I like literally all of the ones in this post, so these comparisons are lost on me.

And yes, I like Sawk and Throh solely because of...this.

One of the very few things I liked about Best Wishes.

America ****** and I liked 5th gen alot outside of some design choices. Region wise to enjoy and explore It's probably my 3rd or 4th favorite region being behind Gen 2 and 3 and sometimes 4 but 4th gen was when HG/SS came out so I have mad alligence to that lol.
