Just joking I top platform camp against garbo-teir characters.
While I know that Bowser is pretty bad compared to the rest of the cast, I'm finding your manner of speech slightly reprehensible in some part of my mind. My previously positive opinion of you is starting to diminish despite me knowing full well that such a reaction is the point of these inflammatory remarks you are making

I understand where you're trying to go, but in reality it's not quite that simple. In the specific scenario you're suggesting, ftilt is actually far too slow to punish literally *any* character's attempt at WD in -> grab. Ftilt's current usage is mostly limited to tech chasing and walling semi- to fast-falling opponents when they're already cornered near an edge. In this scenario and most others, the Bowser player is much better off using jab1 into one of its many possible followups.

Whiff punishment is a great niche, but it only actually works for moves that are sufficiently fast to do so, or against moves that are themselves very laggy. Bowser's upB, for example, is a great whiff punishment move because of the iframes and its speed
Well, I mean, at what point was this conversation strictly holding to "but in reality?" I thought the point of this particular branch-off was more about whether Bowser's strengths are meaningful or could be meaningful without significant redesign.

Ftilt starts at frame 12. A lot of really excellent pokes are as slow as frame 6-8, and +4-6 frames real-time is significant, but not to the point of being dysfunctional. FAF on whiff for grabs is 30 without any pre-grab mobility taken into account. As I said, what makes it slow isn't the move itself as much as Bowser creating the whiff-space too slowly, so getting that whiff in the first place is more difficult for less reward. Shave a few frames off of his travel time and ftilt wind up and you've got a meaningful option.
Ftilt would be worth going for on a high % opponent, or if more range than jab was needed, or if aerial coverage would be preferable since jab doesn't cover Bowser's head very well, or if you want more shield damage/pushback. It's how tradeoffs in move properties work, and it's not inherently bad design.

Seems accurate.

Bingo. Really tho I have a feeling Bowser will always be susceptible to being severely outplayed.

If Falcon is Fast and hard hitting, and he is still a mediocre character, how will Bowser ever be slow, hard hitting, and manage to be viable. I just don't see it.

And Falco will always dominate the matchup.

Bowser's design is hugely, unnecessarily polarizing due to his being 'MURICA sized, his dependence on the armor mechanic (and a few very centralizing moves - nair, fair, dash attack), and his lack of available counterplay against dash dancing and grabs (notably, no means of hindering or discouraging dashdancing such as a projectile or low-commitment neutral options, and no remotely usable spotdodge), which collectively render him incredibly frustrating to crack for some characters, and a complete joke for others - hinging mostly on

1. how good the other character's grab game/followups are
2. whether or not it's a fast faller
3. whether or not the other character has moves with extreme rewards for precision (such as Zelda's kicks, the Knee, Ivy's upB, etc) that aren't actually remotely difficult to land on Bowser.

Bowser's still in a better state than he's ever been, but this stuff should be pretty straightforward to fix without making Bowser too strong.
*Asks what is wrong about IC's design.*

*Gets told a bunch of stuff about bowsers design.*

After playing a bunch of IC games, I figure their only problem atm is the turnaround bug. Am I wrong or is there more to it that I don't get?

*Never said anything was wrong with ICs' design in the first place*

Hylian pls

Also, sorry. One track mind, I guess.

Now that you bring it up, though, I think it might be problematic that there's a character that's fundamentally immune to grabs from a lot of other characters (cough, nobias), but, we'll see once the rest of us get to play with their fixed version.

My suspicion is that they'll get slept on super hard until some joker realizes that most of the cast is floaty and the IC's are pretty good at killing that extremely early. Because Puff needed more new and exciting ways to be terrible.

They'd be a cool secondary, I can't wait until they're actually released.

Edit: HAHAHAHAH HOLY CRAP THIS IMAGE IS AMAZING FOR TWO WORD DERBY
"much Bowser"
"extremely game"
"useless Koopa"
"increase opponents"
..."actually decrease"
"possible Ganon"
"really Falco"
"give hit"
"punish time"
"spacing get"

I'm probably too easily amused, but oh god my sides

You should only be allowed to use that tag if @ Jolteon Jolteon and @Umbreon accept you willingly.
I approve of the glorious eeveelution army.

Also oh man I've been meaning to get accessories to help identify my controller forever, keep procrastinating on it because I've been changing controllers for at least the past year. I want a jolteon sticker on the controller and a fox keychain on the plug :3
