Otherwise as much as mashing seems dumb, it's a testament to Smash allowing you to have some control in EVERYTHING. Which is part of why it feels a lot less worse to get owned in than other games.

Rip Bazkip's lack of stamina.

This just looks a bit ridiculous in a hilarious sense, but also scares me with the thought that people will look for any kind of gimmick they posses and abuse it to the fullest to garner any sort of fame instead of gaining it by doing something that will help their fellow human beings.

That, or their lives are so devoid of excitement that this is a notable moment in their lives. Not sure which one I prefer tbh.

Could just take out the button mashing part and leave in the stick spinning, then adjust the timing/number of inputs for a break. I'd even go as far as to remove the automatic grab break, so that earning pummels by threatening a throw works at all percents after any number of mashless pummels, meaning the opponent doesn't just get to spin the stick then DI and wait for either the break or the throw. The way it is now, you mash for a certain amount of time, if they haven't thrown you yet, you know they have to or the grab will break, so you just DI at that point. REALLY the way it is now you set all your ****ing taunts to grab instead and cheat your way out grabs, but eh, who cares about pummel mechanics amiritePMDT.

The stick spinning (while a unique feature to risk your DI) is still just as bad as the button mashing: you're rewarded for spinning it fast as you can, making it possibly damaging. Lots of people have the habit of stick rolling anyway when starting the game or after their stock; but yeah.

It's a bad feature in that it risks damaging your stick, you're right about that. You could still adjust the number of (stick only) inputs applied to mashing out to max out at one per a few frames, meaning spinning it quickly wouldn't help anymore than spinning at a moderate pace. That said, it also still only risks DI for quick throws, not slow ones. But that's an issue with mashing in general, not just with my alternate proposal.

@ | Kailex | JCz was never ROB's hero or savior. He had good ideas for the overall character design but definitely didn't fine tune it well. There's still a lot of awkward things about ROB (helpful or not) that just seem to be oversights or strange design

In order to argue over something, the "something" needs a mutually agreed definition.

Since the people who bring it up usually don't do so, it usually ends with people stubbornly sticking to what side they like the most and calling the other side completely oblivious (most of the time in a much less dignified manner), while getting nowhere and derailing threads. Also see "which is better competitively, Melee or PM", where the definition of a good competitive game is needed in order to argue for it (but is impossible to mutually agree on since the definition is subjective).
