Problems approaching with Marth

I just started using my dd game semi-decently, and as a result I'm now going for a lot of dd grabs. Unfortunately, often times my opponents seem to be able to read my approach and just sidestep dodge. This happens a lot even when I think I'm switching up the timing/being tricky etc. Anyone have some advice on how I can fix this?

You want to be unpredictable with your dash dance game. What I'd wager is happening is that you are dash dancing with a set rhythm so your opponent begins to watch the very tip of your dash dance. Once you pass that point, you are committed to do something and your opponent sees it and reacts. Spotdodge just happens to cover grab and dash attack and my guess is that it's a spacie. They'll **** you pretty hard out of a spot dodge. Add in some wave dashing to extend your dash dance even further to add that unpredictability of your approach, realize that you can approach with shield as well which ***** spotdodgers. You can even run past your opponent, crouch cancel, turn around grab or fsmash if you'd like. The point is, as I said before, to be unpredictable.

Try approaching with shield when you normally would try to grab. You will bait a lot of spotdodges that way. You can also use DD to bait the spotdodge as well.

against tier 1 spotdodges it is not very good to maintain a close enough dashdance distance to guarantee a punish on the spotdodge ...in my opinion it's better to maintain a wider distance but be less predictable with grabs, using nairs as niko said is quite good, as is dtilting more..if you're only dashdance grabbing the opponent will just spotdodge every time you get close unless you adjust your dashdance spacing till you are close enough to actually guarantee a grab and then start mixing in attacks cause you will be too close to dodge...but if you insert nair and dtilt into your game they will stop..also if their percent is a bit higher dashdancing with a wider spacing and punishing the spotdodge with dash attack is pretty good

idk why people approach with nair anymore. standing or retreating SHFF nair is good though. overshooting with any aerial can be profitable tho

stationary nairs are pretty bad and tend to get punished by a billion things. They only really work on super aggro opponents. Overshooting is the best way to utilize that move as you can apply pressure and mixups with it.

Overshooting Nair to Side-B works for me against spotdodgers. Or an early SHFF air attack followed by a grab. Sometimes I feel like any abnormal action on your part draws out your opponents sidestep-reflex

If you think they are going to spotdodge you could just go for a late spaced fair. Or of course just DD a second longer.

Lets talk falco. how on earth do we approach this guy.
Dash attack if he likes to dash back or RSHL. If they tend to shield after misspacing stuff (like they SHL towards you but aren't close enough to grab), tomahawk grab is an amazing mixup from the usual fair. Also learn to shai drop through platforms with fair. No one does that, but it's incredible. Marth, his fair, and the shield drop are all fast enough that Falco really can't do anything but shield because he's too slow. If he starts trying to run under you, just drop down with the fair. If he tries to outrun you, well, you'll hit him anyway since you're faster and get a lot of range when you consider the fair. If he shields, just make sure you space it.
