Potential Roster/Stage Leak Thread

Yeah Larry being a trophy/alt. pretty much confirms Dixie, Mewtwo, and Ridley for me.

Question: Have we ever seen Larry in a Koopa Clown Car? I know that we've seen all of the Koopalings together in one big one, but I don't think they've ever appeared solo in one (other than Bowser Jr.). If that's true, then what's the point of having Larry in one as a trophy unless he's an alt?

The information I have is that this videos and screens are all ESRB material, that was in fact all videos sent from Nintendo.

I'd support this. If they can't be made to work together, better to make Popo into a sufficient individual character. Heck, make Nana a clone so Doc, Dark, and Lucina have more company. They still deserve representation, they don''t have to work the exact same way they did in Melee/Brawl.

Plus, Ice Climber always involved two different people controlling the climbers, or Popo on his own.

Since it's dlc, those characters wouldn't be reviewed now. That explains why they are not there.

They Nintendo never said that the 3ds roster would be "complete" at launch. They just said both versions will have the same roster. And they technically would at wii u's launch.

Any holes In this theory besides, "Nintendo wouldn't do that?" It explains a lot. Especially why the esrb seems not to have footage of potential missing characters.

Ridley has been teased for a year. A YEAR. He hasn't even been mentioned by name. Yet Yellow Devil, which is essentially acting in the same capacity as Ridley's been teased has been known from Day 1, AND is getting billing across both games while Ridley might be stuck in the Wii U version. I'm sorry, but no, it's BS that he's been toying with people for a year over Ridley with the only payoff being meaningless and most likely an annoying part of one version of the game.

As for Mewtwo, go back to last year's E3 X/Y roundtable where Sakurai said 'okay, I'll consider putting him in the game.'

Correct. There isn't a 'game floating around' out there, that was never part of what's going on. Let's look at this logically.

This is just footage of a long video that is sent to the ESRB for them to evaluate what the game should be rated. There is no game, it's just a video of gameplay footage. With that in mind...

-All-Star Mode being locked doesn't necessarily mean anything because the game footage doesn't necessarily go in any sequential order. In the leak video that shows Shulk victory screen, it goes right into footage of Yoshi doing the sand-bag challenge. It just goes in a seemingly random order.

-The ESRB needs footage of any "questionable" material. Wouldn't Dixie and Impa need to be shown in some capacity if they were playable? I mean they aren't the most sextacular of characters, but...

-Why would the ESRB receive an incomplete roster if they need to evaluate the whole game?

-How would a leaker know if they 'still have things left to unlock'? They aren't actually playing the game, they have no idea how much content there is.

-On that note, if there IS something in the footage that indicate that there are other characters playable, why wouldn't they include that in their giant image dump?

That said, I like your idea, and the only thing I'd point out is that it is quite unlikely Nintendo would do that. The "Free to transfer" thing would be a bit odd, though. I imagine they'd just release them in a patch for the 3DS version at that point. Especially since not all 3DS owners would have a U.

Never knew that Duck Hunt arcade featured a very mobile Duck Hunt Dog. Looking at that game, we can probably surmise more or less how the DHD will move. I bet the mode where all the ducks fly out of the bushes will be his final smash. I wonder if th dog will have to dodge the duck hunter too. Or maybe the player takes control of the gun while the dog goes cpu during the final smash and you have to be careful not to hit him. Juding from DH Arcade, looks like the dog will run on two legs and flutter his legs like Luigi when he jumps.

I don't want it to be true. But sadly, we know that every single other gaming company would do this. Practically anyone else. Since it's Nintendo, it seems a little new. But, if Nintendo were to ever join the dark side, this seems like the best time for them to do so to further encourage the purchase of both systems. $$$

So I think this is what we're getting.

They wouldn't need to be shown if the footage wasn't considered questionable. Thus, (and we have no way of knowing if the leaked images were all that was given to ESRB or not) it would largely depend on the character models. For instance, we didn't see any Zelda, Wii Fit, ZSS, Peach, or Rosalina, when some of those are basically fanservice characters and the others still have an upskirt via camera movement. Same for Lyn. I think it's fair to say that these image leaks didn't contain every single detail that ESRB was shown.

I'm afraid of what might happen if this is it >.< I think a lot of people are going to take it pretty hard, but then they'll get used to it. We all end up embracing the roster! The good news is I'm sure we'll know soon as more people get access to the game, review copies go out, Sakurai reveals more, etc. I prefer the loose ends because it still gives us something to talk about

Normally I'd prefer if both versions had the same roster. However, if Ice Climbers were cut due to the technical issues only found in the 3DS version, then I'd want an exception to be made and have them playable in the Wii U version at least. Better than cutting a unique character of two Smash games, altogether.

I'll end up sucking it up, but for a while I will not be happy with the roster.

Which is why I'm hopeful. Come on Sakurai, give us new series! New series means new trophies to see, new games to play, new enemies to fight!

Not always Sakurai's choice. Nintendo could have made him come up with a way to make it so that there is more incentive to get both versions. If it was his decision, he wouldn't. But he has too.

Just realized the symbols around Shulk are Kanji's, derp i feel dumb.

Yep, each one corresponds to a different Monado arte. Kinda hard to tell in the image if you aren't familiar with Xenoblade and know what to look for though.

And those were kept for the English version of Xenoblade, so hopefully they'll stay that way in Smash, too.

(By the way, plural of kanji is kanji)
