May I suggest watercolor pieces, pen work and a sculpture?

Those are brilliant ideas Blowtoes, I will consider them carefully.

Have you used Sculpey before Lokii? It says it'll bake in an oven but idk how much time I have to work with them before they dry out.

If you want to keep your clay from getting dry, get a spray bottle and a damp cloth. If it starts getting dry while you work on it (it shouldn't though) you can spray it and let it soak for a bit. When you want to store it overnight you wrap it in the cloth.
I've had sculptures I worked on for weeks without having them dry out like that

Usually I would go in to a rant
but I'm also doing homework so you get the short version

First of all
It's overhyped. I don't say this out of bias or hate, I say this objectively. It has a huge cult following and as such anything that is that absolutely massive is inevitably overhyped. Fact of life.
That being said, it's structured around static archetypes and stereotypical character, plot, and culture references, and overall the massive dump of terrible anime far far outweighs the small gems hidden within. I can appreciate the style itself, because it is visually appealing, albeit simple, and efficient. Because of this I can appreciate high quality anime for what it is, but personally still dislike it just because it isn't my cup of tea.

One of the main reasons why I don't subscribe to the style itself, though I previously stated that I liked the form, is because of two reasons: 1) I believe that creativity should come more from inspiration than immitation. There are many styles of anime, but they are still essentially defined as anime. Looking at Sunday morning cartoons (though I hate most of those too) you can clearly see stylistic individuality without being able to label the style itself. and 2) I've seen many many many people who started drawing with anime and developed bad habits that essentially stuck them in a corner when time came for them to really focus on breadth and a wider array of styles.

And believe it or not that was not a rant

Pretty much
I'm obviously not completely unreasonable, because I'll still draw it if I have to.
And I already know everyone here isn't a one-trick anime pony :3

i dislike when kids are like 'HEY THUR IM GONNA GO ART SCHOOL IT UP' with the impression they get to anime it up the entire time.

From what I've seen about one percent of people who draw anime are successful with it (alone).
Most kids who only draw anime get ground down and left behind in the dust. They pretty much have to start over at such a basic level that anything they had learned before becomes completely useless.
:/
Which is fine, because they start you off at that level anyways.

All I do is draw mah cartoons.

I haven't really ventured out of my comfort zone hold when I drew my self portrait for here.

It's weird, because you have no idea whether you're doing it right or not lol.

But I liked your self portrait Zio, I wouldn't have thought that was out of your comfort zone.
Didn't you say your were doing another one?

I haven't heard if they don't accept anime or not, but I know it's frowned upon. Maybe I should ask.

Yeah Global
A lot of the time people who are good at anime are good at other things too, or they have a strong sense of color theory, composition, etc.

Yes, I meant to do another one, but I added to the Fusion Comic instead. That and I'm a lazy summa*****, so I'm not getting to it.

Rather, I been playing Golden Sun and DQ9 before that.

:|

SOON, THOUGH!

You don't know how to work the system. I didn't have trouble in the first two, and this one is just as easy. No complaints, though.

I have no skill in drawing anything realistically whatsoever. Whenever I try to get a shape down or try to draw a straight line, everything gets so curved or bent, or the thing I'm drawing has the complete wrong proportions aaah.

So I just stick with reffing and reapplying my own style of colours, I enjoy doing that :p.
