Man, yo.

I went to Tipped Off 6 this weekend. Man, I hate myself, yo. Why do i gotta be so DARN shy? I couldn't pull out my DSLR camera and take some photos because i was worried I might be interrupting something. I barely played smash for the same reason, and because I felt like they would think it was not a good idea to play me since I'm so bad; They would gain nothing. My friends tell me not to feel this way, but I can't help it.

AE related only in that i was going to be using my DSLR. .-.

Best way to get over shyness is to just... do stuff without thinking sometimes lol.

I don't mean say dumb/offensive things, but if you overthink "Well, maybe I'm not good enough to play them" or "what if I say something not funny" you'll be stuck in that cycle. You have to force yourself to talk and be a part of the conversation/what's going on even if you don't particularly feel like it. Sometimes you might even need to act a bit out of character to show others you can be sociable. Try to find things in common with others to keep the conversation going.

I have the same problem. I'm usually sort of quiet during a match while my opponent makes all of the jokes lol. It just takes (a long) time to get comfortable around others for some people, even months or years, since not everyone is born sociable/a jokester.

I've found that most people at smashfests/tournaments will play you even if you're horrible. I'm sure there are at least a few top players like this as well.

Even top players want some friendlies they can relax and just play for fun.

I know waaaaaaaaaaaaay back at Active Gamers, M2K was going 3vs1 for the lulz, and I was doing Ganon Dittos with items on against some other people. It's just to have a fun time, it's one reason why people love the smash community - everyone in it is awesome.

To get over your shyness, I recommend doing what Neon said. I used to be quite shy, now I'm outgoing. It also helps with job interviews if you aren't too shy. ;) So it's something you'll want to get over eventually.

So don't worry if you are bad. Just play to have fun with the goal of getting better. (If you want to be competitive)

Yeah what susa said. I love playing people ive never met, regardless of skill level. Sometimes you just got to grab a chair, and tell them that you get winner lol
Everyone was inexperienced at some point except m2k, he was programmed that way.

Zio, just go into tournaments and try to have as much fun as you can ^__^
I was SO nervous my first tourney, but i ended up entering and having a lot of fun (even though I had to play Lain in pools). It was still nerve wracking, but i got to meet a lot of new people and got to meet 2 other ZSS mains in my state. And played YbM in friendlies. That was fun x3

To bring some life into this place, I present another drawing from my droogie, Vince.

He had taken pictures of the drawing before it was completed but his brother deleted them.
You say a druggie made this for you? He'll fit right in with the AE.
Whoops, I forgot to correct this. Just look at my sig. >_>

Shiny things have a very sharp highlight and shadow. They also reflect their surroundings (which is pretty hard to draw imo x.x) The artist of the manga Eyeshield 21 is amazing at coloring shiny things, if you want I can show you some of them :O

You have to remember that reflective surfaces not only reflect images, but colour too.

I made the reflections kinda faded and blurry because i wanted to imply it just rained, so everything is a tad blurry.

This happened at my first Brawl tournament :(! I didn't like the Brawl tournament scene, but I later found out it was me not being assertive. Oh, and the venue was waaay too small <_<.

I started going to Melee tournaments, got to know people, got bold and asked people and now I know a lot of people there that will play me :p!

I still play Brawl on wifi regularly.

@Lokii: Your picture has a very pretty glowy effect, some of the things even look transparent. The edges of things look a little odd though, especially the horizon. (I know you don't really want to work on it anymore, it'll still look fine if you don't :D)

If you really want shiny buildings, best thing you can do is go straight to the source. Find some real life photos of skyscrapers after rain and work from those. Or wait for it to rain in your hometown and take photos yourself, even better.

It looks really good but I'm not sure it's convincing quite yet. I think it might be cuz there are no windows on the buildings lol. They look a little... plain I guess? ._. I don't mean that in an insulting way of course, I can tell you added a lot of detail. It's just a little hard to tell it's a wet building without certain features. But you got the high contrast thing going good which is the key to shiny.

Other than that clean up the brush strokes a little more and it's there, really.

I know the feeling of working on a single piece for so long to the point of loathing lol. Good luck, try not to stress out. :reverse:

Yeah, I agree completely. It's hard sometimes, especially around a lot of people you don't know, but once you start meeting people, Smash community is so amazingly chill. I've met a pretty good deal of friends through Smash.

haaaaaaallllpppp

What is this font:

I was like "Century Gothic! No? Futura! No?"

The paper-clip "c" looks really familiar, and it's gonna be something really obvious, but I'm stuck.

^^^ No idea, I'm no font buff.

I did a few sketches of my bro and two step brothers. I got progresively lazy as I did them but I think they all turned out fine.

So dead here :[

Haha no they were about an hour and a half for each. I drew my guidelines with live reference and the lighting by myself.

Those sketches are really good. It would take me forever to draw something like that.

Yaaay art! Can't wait to see more of your work, Bren.

I actually finished an acrylic painting today. It's been a WHILE since I've done that. I'll have to upload a picture of my painting area. It's amusing

Everyone is busily preparing Halloween artwork.

Actually, I have no clue.
