I like this idea the most. Ivy's the only Starter that doesn't have a recolor based off another Pokemon's colors.

I don't really like recolors because I hardly recognize the character that comes from the recolor, most of the time. And since PMDT doesn't want to make real characters as alts, that's why I thought the better way was to make an easter egg. Something that we can move but not attack with. (That would also explain why Parasect cannot attack the same way Ivysaur attack with what is on his back.)
It is just an opinion of course.

Separate thought. Nano, IIRC you'd said there were plans for something with Kirby a while back and failing that we'd be seeing Chocolate Kirby. If you can say, any good news on that front? If you can't say then fingers crossed things are looking good. (Looking Good, polished alts, Pun not-intendo.)

We haven't done much with alts at all. 3.6 was mostly a stage/polishing update. The only reason the Dark Suit was put in was because SJS already had it done. The other alts are just recolors of existing ones, so they took little time to make.

Next update after 3.6 will (hopefully) have all alt slots filled up for every character. That's at least our goal.

I like the way the CSP looks, but in game his skin tone matches the color of his gloves. This was an attempt to make Luigi look barehanded like in the original games. But because they matched the skin with the gloves instead of the gloves with his normal skin color, it kind of just looks like Luigi just got a spray tan.

Aye, I too know of the reference, but it's just so disgusting, it looks like Luigi took up the Wario lifestyle.

Which is why I love it.

Though I think a Dr. Luigi and Casino Luigi costume should be of higher priority.

I like the orange and purple ones. The other color choices aren't the best. I bet darker red and blue colors would look better.

I did not know that. I always thought they just screwed up Luigi's Fire Flower look.
Now I really want a SMB Mario recolor.

Ivysaur got some cool recolor touch-ups last patch (I think she got more then one...)
I know the black one got some love, but I'm not sure about the others.
EDIT: After looking at my 3.02 ISO, I realized that she GOT a black recolor, not a touched up one...
But Schoolgirl Ivy is kind of a given at this point.

Did I miss something? I don't see confirmation of this anywhere and I really don't want OC for the sake of alt thrown over Ivy. Recolors are perfectly fine.

They went with a ninja turtle reference for Squirtle's original alt and a fighting type pun for Lucario's original alt and whole design. But these references are based on the trainers you fight in the games.

The only metric that truly matters is do you regularly fight schoolgirl trainers from Gen 3 onward?

And its been stated that recolors can reference out of series and be fine

Those are Nintendo references though. And I heard somewhere that the PMDT is limiting 3rd Party content, which is why Drac's turned into Delfino Secret.
