I got JSRF as a kid and I would argue it's why I stuck with videogames so intently, because I never knew how hard a game could style until then

I really don't mean to be a downer canonical enforcement nerd, but I don't really like Sonic getting a JSR alt. It just seems really unfitting being outside his series, not to mention he already has 3 other alts coming. I loved JSRF too, I just think it's weird on sonic.

The recolors all look great though! You can never have too many purple costumes as I always say. The team colors are looking spot on too.

I'm wondering where the inspiration came to make that as an alt- was it just a homage to the game that basically lended all of it's mechanics to a new generation of Sonic games, or was it just a "ho hee this would look cool on Sanic" thing?

In Sonic Adventure 2 for Dreamcast, Sonic has a Phantasy Star Online costume. That's the closest I can come up with.

It's really not that far fetched for Sonic to have a JSR outfit given Sega's track record during the Dreamcast days (and even later on) to do this a lot.

I'd have to agree with this.
I didn't like the Sonic recolors a while back, mostly because they seemed to break the no cosplay rule. Then Nanobuds explained that recolors didn't have to follow that rule. I thought about Daisy colored Peach, and it made sense.
This, though, feels like Sonic is cosplaying. It's not a recolor, so it seems like it would have to follow the rules...
I don't want to sound ******, I love most all of the costumes and recolors that the PM art team has made, but this just seems...
fan fictionish.
I'll probably get used to it though, not like I play Sonic anyways.

That alt is better than literally anything that could have possibly come from the sonic series.

In the second image of Jet Set Sonic it seems like he's skating rather than running, did anyone notice that?

Also, there's no photos of him spinning, I wonder what that'll look like.

I think that's his animation for turning around while running. It's possible, though, I suppose.

Yeah, no. Not even. Not by a long shot.

I'm not saying it's bad or anything. I mean, it's..."okay", but it definitely ain't that good.

Looks like the goggles may be animated, based off the last two pictures.
Makes me wonder if we'll eventually get Ristar Sonic. They evolved from the same source, after all.
A NiGHTS revamp of purple sonic would be cool too.
Now that I think about it, there was no Amy Sonic in the last recolor update…
I wonder if they'll have one for my favorite Sega character: Danica Patrick.
