You can get ethernet cables of ANY length, or, you can actually go through walls and make it much neater (how I did it).

Did you try calling your router company?

We have some NICE themes already on PSN as well as Unchartered demo! Downloading now.

Really? Then there better be at least a 65 ft long one.. I might have exaggerated that, I have no idea how far it is from my computer to my television.
I don't know about making them go through the walls, my mom will kill me.
:ohwell:

Well my router is a D-link DIR-615, so I don't know if it's the brand, or what. I might call them later.

Could you run them through the basement? That's what we wound up doing at my house. It's a lot cleaner looking than running them through the walls, so your mother might not have such a problem with it.

You might also be able to get something that would allow you to connect a wireless device to your PS3, and connect it that way. This should probably be your fallback option, however, because I find that wireless networks will sometimes go down at inopportune moments, and that's bad when you're playing online games.

I've downloaded a few demos now and it makes me wish the wii had them even more than I already did. Not only so I could play smashbros again and again but so I would know what not to waste my time on. I was pretty interested in Folklore but now after playing the demo I'll be buying it as soon as I can. I had a lot of fun with it. I was thinking I might rent the simpsons game but it was extremely boring.

Uncharted didn't interest me when it was shown way back at E3 but the more I learned the more I liked it. Still, I don't typically play games like this so when I played the demo I was expecting to be dissapointed. Turns out I had so much fun playing through this that I'll be buying it on day 1.

Folklore was a blast AND we have DLC coming out really soon. The Simpsons game was really interesting to me, because the style was so much like the cartoon, but the gameplay was so shallow. I am playing Unchartered and Rachet and Clank demos tonight.

Demos REALLY helped me out a ton, but I wish PSN would have gotten more demos. Back when I was buying games like Rainbow 6: Vegas, there was maybe 10 demos. Now we get 2-4 a week.

I had to dig for this topic, WTF?
Anywhoo...

SUCCESS!
I've finally established a connection. My PSN account is Im_Tha_Freak.

Good lord, that was the longest ToS agreement I have ever scrolled through.

Okie dokie, I might get on later also (maybe), weekends are best for me and Fridays too.

I love uncharted, the demo was enough to convince me to get it, whenever it comes out that is.

So apparently even though Uncharteds release date is the "20th" Gamestop has had it since last week. This is like the 3rd time a PS3 game has several different release dates. And here I was waiting until next week to get it. :/

Also, themes.

It might sound stupid but these are seriously one of my favorite things about the PS3. Basically you make your interface look however you want. If you like Zelda, you could have each icon be a boss from past games overlayed onto your favorite scene from Oot. I've downloaded a transformers theme, Final fantasy theme,Okami and even a vista theme. It's undeniably awesome.

To get them directly onto your PS3 go to allps3themes.com. If only there was a way to customize the opening music...

I do love the themes. They are quite fun.

I am playing Assassin's Creed right now, but I might get Unchartered.

I have a question about Warhawk, whenever you rank up or achieve a badge or get points even, does your profile instantly update? Because it looks like my last profile update was on the 16th, so I wonder if it changes on different times, or what?

EDIT: Oh, nevermind it was updated.

Umm, so yeah I was playing a game of CTF, 1 more point and my team was gonna win, well I made both captures so I was doing pretty much all the *** kicking on my own. Anywho as I was about to go back to the opposing team's base I was kicked off the server by the admin. I was so pissed, probably some ****ing little 12 year old who can't play worth ****. Has this happened to anyone?

Surprised there isn't a thread for it (and too lazy to post one that has the required info), but Call of Duty 4 is flipping amazing.

EDIT: Sorry Cashed, my bad. I totally forgot to search. Just looked through first two pages. Apparently it was on page three.

I've removed post and placed it in the official thread, since it belongs there. Yay for the power to edit posts!

So, the new PSN store is really well done with game categories for demos and what not. This week we saw two new Eye games (I bought an Eye pretty much because I liked what I saw) as well as trailers. I hope Pain and EchoChrome come out soon. Also, Warhawk update is coming, I believe December 12th, to prepare for the expansion pack coming out. My wallet is crying.

I'm ready for that Warhawk update, I know the maps like the back of my hand and I need something new.

I'm thinking I should buy one of the PSN games while the deal is still going on. I'm looking mainly at Everyday Shooter, CAC and locoroco. They are only $5 so I may buy two but I leaning towards just getting one. I've never played a game like everyday shooter before but I've heard it's a lot of fun. I've heard CAC is fun if you can find someone online. Plus, there is apparently some die hard fan just waiting to **** anyone he plays a match against. I've heard what you liked about locoroco and the game has always intrigued me.

Bah, I just can't decided.

I haven't purchased anything from the PSN store, nor do I have a desire to since the only thing I do is download free demo's.
But I agree with Chill, IMO Warhawk is starting to bore me, the ranking system is crap, and my bluetooth headset isn't working. ****!

Never played Everyday Shooter, not my style, but I hear good things. Calling All Cars is AMAZING for the price. A bit short, but it's so much fun. Just message me for a game anytime. Locoroco is the best PSN game on there. Period. It's so much fun, and gorgeous on HD tvs.

Really? What games are you playing in Warhawk? Blue servers or white? I have had games that were epic on the blue servers. My headset hasn't worked for a while either though, and the ranking system doesn't matter to me at all. But we are getting maps soon.

Nope, just the PS3.

@CK, yeah 32 player CTF is my favorite. There's just so much going on and when someone gets a flag out of the base things get crazy.

I want a PS3 D:

hey...is this a topic like this for the PSP?
There is a PSP topic that's long been buried. Feel free to resurrect it. I just got mine and would love to discuss some games.

Nope, just the PS3.

Omg, yes! The maps are utterly insane and if you just stay on defense/base capturing, you will be busy the ENTIRE game. To do flag captures, you have to focus on that and nothing else. I've definitely gotten lucky with a few tank rushes I've lead (I'd get a tank and take every base on Argipeggolo or whatever it is, people would join me) and I'd get the flag while defending the carrier. A HUGE adrenaline rush.

Calling all Cars didn't impress me, David Jaffe, the creator of it (and also the God Of War Games) hyped it way to much on another forum I go to. Still a decent game though.

I have a love/hate relationship for CTF, depends if my time is willing to cooperate with me, either that or I try doing flag runs by myself.
Aren't ribbons easiest to get? I have like none, but I do have a lot of medals and badges..

The details on the new map and vehicle for Warhawk have been released. This is the press release.
New Warhawk™ downloadable pack coming to PLAYSTATION®Network this December

Announcing Operation: Omega Dawn
Get a brand new map and a new aircraft: the awesome KT-424 Combat Dropship. All this in one download from PLAYSTATION®Network

The battle began this August when Warhawk™ went online on PLAYSTATION®Network (PSN). Since then, the fighting has spanned the globe as PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) gamers of all nationalities battle for supremacy in this world of multiplayer military confrontation. Whether you’re fending for yourself or enlisting in a team of Eucadian or Chernovan forces to wage war on foot, at the controls of a tank or from the cockpit of the fearsome Warhawk, there’s non-stop action ahead in Warhawk – and it’s about to get even better with the PSN release of Operation: Omega Dawn, the first downloadable Warhawk expansion pack exclusively available from PLAYSTATION®Store. Operation: Omega Dawn delivers a new gameplay experience that expands the title’s strategic gameplay elements by offering a new world to explore and introducing a unique aircraft to the Warhawk universe: the awesome KT-424 Combat Dropship.

With Operation: Omega Dawn, the war between the Eucadians and the Chernovans forces continues as the two countries fight to control the high-tech facilities of a critical new battlefield – the Omega Factory. The battle takes place in an entirely new world - an industrial night-time setting where players will fight through five new layouts of advanced building complexes and huge industrial towers. The new map supports all existing game modes – including Team Deathmatch, Zone Mode and Capture the Flag – and is the largest combat zone to date for Warhawk!

But that’s not all; no new battlefield would be complete without a new piece of kit, and Operation: Omega Dawn comes complete with a serious toy which will enhance the already intense Warhawk experience: the KT-424 Combat Dropship. You’ll activate the vehicle once you gain control of one of the many weapons factories on the world; once you have it, you’re in charge of an advanced aircraft capable of carrying seven soldiers and a ground vehicle at once. The KT-424 Combat Dropship transports 1 pilot, 6 soldiers and 1 ground vehicle; and features a deadly new weapon – the MBEC-3 Heavy Support Cannon. You’ll have loads of opportunity to take full advantage of the new KT-424 Combat Dropship because the new world is full of vertical gameplay which integrates ship decks, raised platforms, and factory rooftops accessible only by airborne deployment.

Are you ready for Operation: Omega Dawn? Only the fiercest, most visionary and most disciplined teams of soldiers can hope to carry the day. We’ll see you there – locked and loaded - on PSN this December.

Operation: Omega Dawn pack features:

Set at night for added impact and tension, the Operation: Omega Dawn pack for Warhawk™ features an enhanced level of teamwork, tactics and coordinated aerial assaults with the new KT-424 Combat Dropship.

* Omega Factory battlefield includes 5 new map layouts featuring advanced building complexes and huge industrial towers.
* KT-424 Combat Dropship transports 1 pilot, 6 soldiers and 1 ground vehicle; and features a deadly new weapon – the MBEC-3 Heavy Support Cannon.
* The 5 large layouts from the original battlefields have been modified to include the KT-424 Combat Dropship.
* All this in one single download from PLAYSTATION Network this December
The maps are already huge and this is supposedly the biggest one? Night battle? Dropship? I want this now.

bored, I know what you mean. If you have a sucky team one person will get in the dropship and leave everyone else behind. It already happens with the 4X4s.

Well, no matter the cost, I'm buying this.

December is pretty close too guys... I'm excited. Pain, High Velocity Bowling, Warhawk, all these releases!

What I really love about PSN is the epic content on it. I'm not sure about 360, but I don't think there is any other console that has full games on it to the capacity of Warhawk, like PSN does. Warhawk is also just the first step as Socom will be online just like Warhawk. Realistically, you can buy a PS3, and spend about 100 bucks on PSN stuff and be busy for a LONG time. That's pretty cool to me. I just wish Sony would acquire more independent studios that would JUST work on PSN titles, like with fl0w, Little Big Planet, and David Jaffe's new studio.

All in all, it's hard not to be hopeful for PSN growing like it is. They have big plans for it, no doubt, as they rev up for Home's Spring release.

Yay Eric mentioned the 360 so I can join the discussion!

While you could buy $100 worth of stuff off of Xbox Live and be busy for a long time, there's nothing to the scale of Warhawk available for download on the 360, just Arcade games. Apparently the fall update for the 360 adds new tabs for MMOs, Betas and the Xbox Originals, and the Xbox Originals are going to be upwards of 4GB downloads, so hopefully the 360 will be seeing things like this.

Personally I love the download-age, just having everything already on your system and just having to boot it up. Whenever I buy a PS3 I'll likely buy Warhawk like that, despite not having a mic.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Digital Distribution is the future of video games. Games that would never turn a profit are making millions by doing self-publication via digital distribution. All the money they'd have wasted on making manuals, boxes, cds/dvds/HD media can be turned into marketing for the game and gaining even more profits. Savage 2 is one of the huge ones doing this and before the game has been released they have over 20,000 purchases (people playing the beta) and that's all profit as they haven't begun advertising yet.

Another thing I saw with Shadowbane that I love, advertising in MMOs to make them free. Instead of charging $15 a month, MMOs are adding banners to the game bar, which people pay a lot to have done, so all you have to do is play the game, and the company gets the money, this new set-up keeps games free to gamers, but doesn't turn a profit. To turn a profit, MMOs will have to add MORE advertisers, some pay services, and possibly a premium service, BUT the idea is in practice for REAL Free MMORPGs.

All this is leading me to believe video games are going to evolve rapidly into more lone wolf/small developer team projects and have plenty competing games. If so, yay!

A couple of weeks after the release, people will just be asking for more..
Ugh, the expansion doesn't seem all that much, maybe I'm just being ignorant. But it just sounds like a bunch of add on's, then an actual expansion.

And that's what DLC does, you get it, play it and then go "Holy **** why don't they release new stuff like this more often to keep the game fresh?"

Well, PAIN came out today for $10 along with another map pack for Resistance, another pack for Motorstorm, and Shivering Isles ($29.99).

PAIN is SO much fun and I recommend everyone get this game now. It's not a game that will keep you busy for hours, but it is so entertaining and interactive. Great way to spend $10.

Does PAIN have a lot of replay value, CK? I'm debating whether or not if I should purchase it. A lot of stuff I download from the PSN store (mostly demo's) I usually end up deleting after awhile.

It's a blast because of the multiplayer mode. A bunch of stuff is locked now, one saying come back in two weeks. The game has a lot of room to expand.

For $10, you can't go wrong if you have the friends to play Horse and Bowling.

Hey guys. I'm thinking about getting a PS3 in the near future, but I still am skeptical. I just need one question answered right now.

I've heard that the 80GB and 40GB PS3s aren't directly backwards compatible, compared to the original release models. Does anyone know what this implies?

Thanks. :)

Uh, other than the 80GB using software emulation for PS2 and PS1 games and the 40GB not having backwards compatibility at all, I don't believe there are any differences.

Yeah, you use the disc. The old PS3s, the 20GBs and 60GBs had the old Emotion Engine chip from the PS2 in them, which was costing Sony more than they wanted, so they created software for the console to play old titles.
