Planning A Tournament In Philadelphia

Hey everyone, I've ran a bunch of small tournaments before, and I'm about to run a bigger tournament here in Philly, PA especially with the ending of Melee coming so soon. I'm currently trying to find a venue, though I have a good place in mind. Just making sure people would be for it, would a lot of you be interested in a tournament at Drexel U. It would most likely be $5 entrance fee (to pay for the cost to rent the venue), $10 for singles, with prices for other things such as doubles yet to be decided. The tentative date right now is October 27th. So whos up for it?

good, it seems like some ppl (who saw this) are actually up for this. i wanna get some mad good pros down here lol, afterall m2k was at my dorm earlier this year.
as soon as i get the ok for the venue il setup registration and promoting it and what not.

nice, good to see velocity is up for it! get the rest of the TSA crew on board, afterall we already got the entire philly branch right here lol. yea the whole lookin for philly smashers was a joke, theres tons of us here. yo lets get some other pros here like m2k, pc chris, and anyone else who lives within driving/traveling distance to philly.

Ok I have an update on information (sorry for the double post). To reserve the venue in mind, it will be a $5 base fee for everyone to get in (besides the tournament fee which should be like $10 per person which will go to the main pot for the respective tourny), but we will need atleast 40 people. Spread the word of this and have everyone who wants to go post here to make sure this can happen.

Jersey will show up if the date isn't conflicting with either Smashacre, Cheezits, or other major EC tourneys.

Needless to say, if this happens I'll be there.

theres gotta be room for other tourneys at some point. having every weekend already booked with biweeklies and monthlies makes it hard for new groups to start getting into the scene with their own tourneys. atleast theres already some ppl interested in mine. you, velocity, chocobo, and pakman need top convince the rest of tsa to go lol.

believe id much rather choose a date that isnt being used, but this is pretty much the only one we can do. i cant do the first weekend of november (plus that might be smashacre), and the week after is that big tourny in CT, and im sure after that theres plenty of other tourneys already planned crammin in b4 the brawl launch. man i wish i had more time than 2.5 weeks to plan this...

Yeah making it on the 27th just hurts the community overall, cause half of them will go to both tournies and both will suck. Just make it this weekend or keep waiting for an open weekend. Like this one.

1. 10 blocks from your house, no driving required
2. (hopefully) be with the rest of the tsa crew
3. biggest smash tourny of its kind at drexel u so far (that i know of)
4. cheezit has these every other week, this is a one time thing (until possible later plans of monthlies or something you were talking about)
5. last drexel tournament before brawl

i kinda also wanna go to cheezits lol, but il obviously wait for another date

20th is C3 which is in VA which everyone is going to, and Sundays always have drama. It's a better idea than the 27th, but not much.

20th is C3 probably not that great lots of People from Pa and NJ travel to and my event is a one day thing so the 28th might be good for you.
