I'm surprised Thor hasn't commented on Maya Angelou's passing since he's normally keen on historical figures.

Everybody should remember how important she was to the conscious literary revolution you still see today. Without people like her, you set back culture decades. I'm sad tonight and I'll enjoy all this music she helped inspire.

& dude, when I saw on the news that Maya Angelou passed away, I was pretty ****ing sad. I used to looove reading her poetry back when I was in high school, and she was one of the few authors who made her work come alive when she did public readings imo.

Her poetry isn't poetry to me, it's speaking. I hate poetry, it's mostly why I turned to hip-hop so young. But she's not a boring poet, she's that grandma everyone loved. She's the woman who lived through the Jim Crow era and brought Tupac to tears. She's proof humanity is capable of more than we are currently. And nobody even knows a thing about her.

Looking back on it, we had so many different people visit and had some people stick around for awhile. Pika boards will never as untamed as it once was before though lol.
I feel like a magikarp at the moment but I was a gyaradous once...still can't spell to save my life or correctly input grammar into writing. I still don't understand why I was inactive but than again I probably have nothing to say as I do now<.<
O yea never got into reading so never got into poetry so never got into her supposedly good poetry but I did hear about her yesterday morning in class although my hate for the writing/english subject runs too deep for me to love anything related to it. Think of nuking one thing but inevitably destroying everything.

We used to go to poetry slams/spoken word events back in college, and everyone does the same overdramatic inflection, drawn out pauses, body gestures for effect. You hit the nail on the head when you said Maya just speaks, and it works.

....On a semi-related note, I can't imagine making it to that age. 86 isn't crazy old to die, but think how much of a relic Smash will be by then, goddamn.

Inspired me to look back on mine. Honestly, I don't think I've changed much, just grown more comfortable being me. I look back, and I can't find anything that I wouldn't say again today -

I only have one friend that ever considers playing Brawl instead of Project M. And another one that will play 64 with me. It'd be nice for Brawl to have a bigger playerbase.

Maybe I should try to get something running in my community. There have to be players that enjoy Brawl and aren't able to/don't want to step up to the plate.

I for the life of me can't get a playgroup together. Or join an existing one. Dat schedule, it's terrible.

That said, from what I understand Louisville doesn't have much of a competitive scene at all these days, for anything. Brawl, melee, PM, nothin. Couple of local shops have tried to kick off tourneys and such in the last year, but none's gotten off the ground for long. Hell, I even took a crack at it. Then dat schedule.

Wonder if there'd be any interest in a midnight every-other-week deal.

At least Wi-fi is back up for Brawl- so that I can play that. It sort of fills the void Brawl left a little bit... yeah there's still no momentum-cancelling and stuff is stupidly safe on shield sometimes, but I don't have to try to do Melee stuff (unless I'm Fox, then I can wavedash if I want).

Here in MN, we tried to get something going, had 16 at one tourney but then only like 8 at the next (I couldn't make it) so they axed Brawl. I only know like 3 people I can play with if I see them and they're willing to play.

from the grave I have returned. the saddest part is i havent even been busy doing anything, ive just been working out and playing league.

SO: no one plays brawl anymore, this is trufax. i lost to a luigi at fanime due to being really out of practice, and i played marth. 70:30 MU, man im good at brawl still.

on another note Im shooting for 100 straight pushups. so far i can do 70 straight. vids to come? possibly.

Changing times. Yea people change, i totally look back and think wow im glad im not THAT guy anymore.

Soon to come: my drawings once im done with my summer drawing class.
