I'd imagine we'll get the standard Goomba and Koopa partners for the first two areas in addition to the Chain Chomp and some brand new character (Though similar to other characters, Watt and Flurrie are pretty unique species). That leaves about 3-5 spots for other partners. Of the species they have not chosen from yet:

-Shy Guy
-Blooper
-Piranha Plant
-Swoopers
-Clefts
-Clubbas
-Rough Puffs
-Wigglers
-Hammer Bros./ Koopatrols
-Toad
-Crazy Dayzees
-Fuzzies
-Podobos/ Embers
-Bandit
-Pianta (Who, for some reason, I'd imagine might be pretty cool even if it is a Pianta)

I probably missed a bunch, but those are what I came up with off the top of my head. I'd say Shy Guy and Toad are the two most likely to appear (Toad in particular, considering we've seen fighter Toads in both of the RPG Paper Marios), but who knows.

Watt and Flurrie are pretty unique species.

Watt is derived from the lil' Sparkies in Super Mario World.

Flurrie is indeed unique however. I don't think there is an enemy equivalent.

Also, I can't imagine Paper Mario original enemies (Clefts, Fuzzies, etc.) ascend to the status of a partner. Ms. Mowz became one due to the Mousers being enemies in Yoshi's Island, but some of those you mentioned, I doubt it.

this one time i did a 100 trials run with 5 hp and fp and 21 bp. i basically multibounced everybody (my multibounce did like 20 damage because i had a bunch of power rushes lmao) and then i had to use koops' shell armor and power bounce bonetail. koops is a boss.

I wouldn't be so sure.

Paper Mario is the kind of series that constantly gets scrapped, improved, and remade in production. Tons and tons and tons of stuff in beta pics get crumpled up and thrown out, tons of unused stuff is in every Paper Mario... The Chomp looks far too plain, and I'm not seeing that as what will be in the final result of PM3DS.

You'll have to wait for the actual game to see if the chomp even gets in to vote for it.

Agreed with Ulti. So far pretty much every partner has something extra, like an accessory to them if they were from a mainstream species in Mario. Koops' sweater, Goombario's hat, etc.

That Chain Chomp looks kinda plain.

About the Chain Chomp looking plain: in the PM series, the Chain Chomps aren't exactly the sharpest tools of the bunch. They have no personality aside from being a barking dog to expand on.

Sort of. He dogs you as you're traveling through the Lavalava volcano, but he doesn't follow right behind your back, retracing every step you take.

The only non-fighting characters that do that are Goompa, Professor Frankly, and Flavio.
