Why would Nintendo release images of Namco items with no Namco rep?

This is HUGE! Look at all the items in there! Blue shell is new, boomerang is new, bee's nest is new! A bunch of returning items! And right there, in the midst of all of it, is the Special Flag and Galaga characters!
I don't know about you guys, but this pretty much 99% confirms Pac-Man's inclusion in this game. Why would they have items for Namco history but not include Namco's biggest history maker?
I'm excited! :D
Check the whole photoset, my friend. There are so many new and returning items in there we have never seen screenshots of before, but they're all real. There's no way someone could photoshop stuff that well. I'll agree that the Namco items look fake, but alongside all these other photos and character poses we've never seen, there's no way they can be deconfirmed. If they were real, why didn't Sakurai show them at the Direct? I think they are fake... it is so easy to Photoshop a sprite from an arcade game and then claim it's real...
They leaked like three or so characters from Brawl themselves purely by accident. One of which I'm pretty sure was Lucario.I think this makes Pac-Man less likely, actually. It'd be like showing off rings and Chaos Emeralds as items, but not Sonic. It'd give away way too much. Nintendo's really good at avoiding such obvious information leakage. I think this confirms Namco items, and not much else.
But God do I want to be wrong...
I think this entire thing is a huge information leak. This more or less confirms every item from Brawl + items we have yet to see, which, is sort of a big deal.I think this makes Pac-Man less likely, actually. This seems way too obvious, though. At least Lucario, Ness, and Jigglypuff were hidden away as tiny icons in a short portion of a video. This is a lot more blunt. I just can't see Nintendo letting that slip out so easily unless they intentionally gave the go-ahead, in which case, they probably have nothing to hide. They leaked like three or so characters from Brawl themselves purely by accident. Nintendo has made mistakes in the past. It wouldn't be a first.
Forgive me if I'm ignorant on the subject, but I was under the impression that press kits are officially distributed to media outlets by the firm in question. Wouldn't Nintendo thus be able to dictate when that information goes out? Or does the media have more control over that?Yeah. It's from a press kit. Fairly sure. We're not exactly suppose to have press kit images. Hence press kit.
I worked in the newspaper business for six years, and I know that companies and publications put out press kits quite often. Usually any photo you see in your newspaper that isn't local came from a press kit, and those press kits are chock full of photos. About as many as there are in that Flickr gallery. Usually newspapers will pick and choose one or two photos from the selection and use those to go along with an article.Forgive me if I'm ignorant on the subject, but I was under the impression that press kits are officially distributed to media outlets by the firm in question. Thanks for explaining it to me, Bauske, truly. This is exactly the sort of information I'd been trying to find on the subject. I've had very little experience in the business or journalism fields (liberal arts major D: ), so I was just really confused by the whole debacle. Thanks for clearing that up for me.I worked in the newspaper business for six years, and I know that companies and publications put out press kits quite often. Magazines of course will be different. I think they wanted to show that Namco is having some sort of presence in the game. After all, they are helping co-develop it. Hell, in today's direct, it showed Sakurai in Namco's building. He says that's where he works every day. It's common knowledge at this point that Namco is involved, and I think this press kit has those items in there to get our imaginations and hype going.
But it could also be that they didn't intend for those photos to get out into the general public. They could have just been designed for newspapers and magazine usage, but got slipped to someone who uploaded every single one. I think this is what happened, because there's so much information in those pictures today that wasn't revealed in the Direct.
Awesome this is just awesome this has to mean pacmans in to omg im so excited!!Yup! Check the gallery set! There are Namco items in there, but also a ton of other great pictures that confirm new and returning stuff! :D

I hope not i hope pacmans in.I saw it suggested that the Special Flag, as it is raised above the character like an Assist Trophy when used, might be used to summon Namco characters, such as the Galaga enemies. I think it's quite plausible. It might be Sakurai's way of representing Namco without giving them a character.
I have no idea what the S Flag would do. Galaga as an Assist Trophy sounds really likely, though.I am not sure how to classify the Namco sprites... maybe the S-Flag is a regular item and Galaga is an Assist Trophy?

I think they'd all be from the early 80's arcade era to fit in with Pac-Man.Thats what i was wondering to,That sounds about right ones probably and AT and the other ones an Item. wonder what other Namco items will be in smash :D.
I just want them to confirm Pac-Man as a newcomer already.
I kinda want them to go crazy with the retro newcomers in their reveal trailer... just like how the Charizard and Greninja trailer went nuts with Pokemon... maybe they could show Pac-Man and Duck Hunt Dog as newcomers while reconfirming Ice Climbers, R.O.B., and Mr. Game & Watch.
