The platforms atop of Megaman and Sonic, the ghost spawner above Mario and Pac-Man, and the two walls beside the top middle wall should not be walls, rather be background elements, I think I will find it annoying that I have to go through many paths just to KO someone.

Amazing work!

I absolutely love it, seriously. I can actually see it get any casual play over 75m due to the more traditional shape and size of the stage. Very accurate scaling on the models too, and the little easter egg pro-friendly version is a great touch. I recommend editing it out and reposting it for the new page, everyone must see this fantastic mock-up.
really thanks, Smash Daddy! glad you liked! 8D.... Well, I like to play competitive Smash, but I have no problem having some fun in close stages; .. although, I tried to imagine the Maze something in the middle ground between a closed room and an open area... as you can see, how many places for K.O. there is. ... I'm hoping and, actually, expecting something like that oficially, would be very nice! 8D

Very impressive, looks a lot different from the other Pac-Maze stage designs I've seen. One thing I would like to add would be fruit appearing randomly and healing the player who got them.

Well, took a while, but that's what I promised! The Maze "256"! (did my best with manipulation the 75m pieces to make this seem a 3D stage, but in any case, I ask apologizes for some bad touches);

as we talked here, the purpose of the stage, it's be a Retro alike 75m from Brawl; but I put in practice some other ideas;... like the illumination, ... the characters would have these spotlight following them wherever they go (derived from the idea that was said here from neon colors in the ground... I thought that would be better keep the maze itself blue as the original game); the Ghosts are in 3D Models and they're generic ones (having their own light with respective colors),... the Original Ghost Gang should be Pac's AT anyway; =P... the Pac-Dots in the background are just tiny lamps that stay blinking/shining, nothing but a decoration;

here is a explanation about the K.O. extremities for the stage \/;

well, I think that's it! 8D... should be a great stage to play casually... not sure about competition;.. considering that Mario Bros., New Pork City and 75m are always banned... but I did thinking in the homage for the character and his series, nothing more!

Let me know what you guys think! =)

BONUS:
One question: do the ghosts come out of the area in the middle like they do in Pac-Man somehow? Is it an automatic cycle?

well, it's a maze anyway. =P... it's made for be hard, I guess. XD.. I dunno, I think that I would get frustrated too, but there's a difference in a thing made for make us frustrated and be frustrating for the wrong reasons. =P

sure, why not! It's a great idea. =) and thanks for the compliment. 0/

I think that would be an automatic cycle... at random, maybe.. since here's five, and the original are just four... and these here are dumb, not smart as the original Ghost Gang. =P

Edit: Oh, a thing about the ghosts is that, ... only after 3 minutes or more, all the five would be circulating through the stage... for kill everybody. ... if they were all in the begin of the battle, would be a mess;

Great job with the stage @ CyberWolfBia CyberWolfBia ! It does look like a difficult stage to K.O. anyone, but I guess that would be the novelty of it! Anyhow, I really like it and could see something along these lines actually be in the game.

p.s. I'm really contemplating if I should buy Ghostly Adventures off the eShop. I don't think it has that many good reviews but I have this sudden Pac-Man excitement in me, hmm.

Really Thanks! 0/; ...yeah, in practice, should be a hard stage to walk through; but I don't think that would be difficult to KO people in fact; the possibilities to be hit by a ghost, fall in one of the multiple holes or be throwed to the laterals or to upwards would be very big.. meaning an imminent KO; ... but by the other hand, the aerial game would be hard to keep, since the only place with space enough to jump freely would be on top of the ghost spawner, or close the limit of the top of stage (of course this would have an tolerance when you're away off the camera, like most of the stages in Smash) two dangerous places to stay...

The strategy in a stage like the maze is keeping the fight concentrated in a point, but would be great for Little Mac players. XD XD XD;...

---Oh, and about the Ghostly Adventures question; ... which version you're wanting to buy? ... I only played the home console version, and I really liked... but people says that the portable version is better in many aspects; ... but both are very simple, ... I recommend as a Pac-Man fan, ... but not expect a GOTY.. well, after all, I think that the thing that made me fall in love by all the Pac-Man's platform games was the simplicity. =P

I like CyberWolf's stage idea.
nice to know; ^^ glad for it. =)

The stage is excellent, @ CyberWolfBia CyberWolfBia

I mean, wow. The visuals are great; the character scaling is pixel perfect; and really, just about everything about it, from layout to hazards and even aesthetics, is well-thought out. I can see you really put some time and thought into it, and it shows. I'd probably rarely play on it, though. Way too difficult to earn kills there. I echo the sentiment that certain portions of the stage should be merged into the background. Not every stage has to be tourney viable, but it was sad being rarely able to play on Shadow Moses Island in Brawl, since all of my friends would complain about how hard it is (for them) to kill there.

Thanks for the compliments, and the constructive criticism as well ^^.... but the idea was in fact collective ... arose from the discussion we had here about the stage of Pac; I tried to fit all the suggestions, and with the addition some other details, make the best possible tribute to Pac-Man Series. =) ....

about the fact that some solid platforms be troublest, I think, if there weren't this impediment, the stage would be much more common and easier to play ... and how the common consensus of a maze is to be a difficult environment, I thought that could be better keep them solid ... and of course, because in the original game are also solid walls. .. But I dunno about my frequence playing in a stage like that too! =P... I like stage with hazards and with small space when I'm fighting against CPU,.... but, when I play against real people, I prefer "competitive" stages as well. XD

I think that looks awesome, @ CyberWolfBia CyberWolfBia , but I definitely agree with @ BluePikmin11 BluePikmin11 about the wall thing. I remember building stages in Brawl that had pretty tight-knit corridors and small exits to the side to kill people, and while those stages were fun for a while, it got tiresome after a bit trying to K.O. someone through that small gap, especially if a person knew how to tech properly and keep themselves from bouncing around.

If Pac does end up getting into the game, I know somehow his stage will revolve around a maze or blue walls on a black background of sorts, but it's hard to imagine how it'd work without being cluttered or confining.

Another thought just occurred to me. Wouldn't it be cool if, instead of fighting in the maze, you were fighting on the control panel of the original arcade game itself?

I made a quick mockup here.

Just an idea, but I think it'd be fun to fight right there. It'd be a pretty flat stage, but it has a joystick in the middle of it and the original arcade game of Pac-Man would play in the background. That joystick in the middle could be hit by attacks to knock people around on the other side, so you could smash attack it from one side and it would flick that way and potentially hit someone standing on the other side, or people could get knocked sideways by a smash attack and bounce off it. Not only that, but hitting the joystick would also make the Pac-Man in the game in the background actually move in that direction too.

Something like this would never actually happen. xD If Pac gets in, it's probably gonna be a maze stage, but it's fun to think outside the box.

I liked the idea; once, helping people at the SmashCrusade forums, I did something like this with a SNES controller... the buttons would sink when a character was on top of it, but just this effect though.. the Pac-Man game playing in the background would be very nice; ... an easter egg like is also on SFxTK, when the Pac-Man game is playing in the Mokujin-Bot's back; =D...

but, in the playability... well, I think we both went to the extremes,... a stage too simplistic and a stage too complex. XD... but I'm expecting The Maze as Pac's stage, ...maybe not so closed as I did, but confused would be a normal thing, as I said, it's the common sense of a maze after all. =P.

Good job btw! 0/

I agree. I'm fairly certain if Pac-Man gets in, he's getting a maze stage. I just have no idea how they're going to pull it off, but I have faith they'll pull it off well.

How about a compromise: you fight on a arcade control panel -platform which moves around the blue maze :troll:

seriously though, I think a very likely scenario would be that the classic Pac-Man maze is somehow shown in the background while the fighting happens in front of it.

This is honestly what I would expect as well. I think we'd see the fighters simply duking it out on a generic platform, the architecture of which resembles the standard maze aesthetic, while the maze itself is displayed in the background, possibly with a classic game of Pac-Man being played during the fight.

I do like the arcade cabinet stage idea, though @ Bauske Bauske .

I can see it now.... a new SSB4 trailer showing Luigi with the new Poltergust... it looks like a new Luigi's Mansion game for the Wii U... then he sees colorful ghosts zoom by... we don't know what they look like at this point because they moved so fast... then the power goes out... and Luigi is in the dark... pitch-black... then neon blue lights turn on... he looks down to the floor and see that the blue lights are on both sides of the hallway... then yellow light balls appear on walls... classic Pac-Man arcade music starts playing... Luigi looks around and sees the same colorful ghosts chase after him... cue a Scooby Dooby Doors cutscene with Luigi and the ghosts... then suddenly the ghosts turn blue... and Pac-Man appears in his 2D form... *insert the "Pac-Man joins the battle" image here*... and then we are treated to a montage of Pac-Man in his 3D form, showing us his crazy moveset and unique gameplay, ending with Pac-Man getting the Smash Ball... and we cut back to the 2D Pac-Man eating the four ghosts in a row like the arcade cutscene while Luigi watches.

Yep, .. not that the Poltergust needed to be in Luigi's moveset for this concept of trailer being showed at Pac's reveal; ... but in any case, a little OFFtopic, but I'm very hyped about it! Man! the Poltergust 5000 deserved to be in Luigi's moveset since ever, but being a replacement of the awful Negative Zone is better yet imo. I'm just wishing that Peach and Bowser get new Final Smashes as well! =P;

Now, backing to our old beloved Pac, .. he has a friend ghost hunter with a complete set to join him in a team battle! 8D

I'm honestly hoping some repeat final smashes, like Toon Link, Wolf, Falco, and Lucas (assuming they return) get changed as well. Luigi had a weird final smash, but at least it was unique. If something like his is getting a rework, I sincerely hope the others are too.

I do have to say that since Namco is working on this game, I feel like the game as a whole has gotten a ton better in every single way. It feels like the Smash Bros. we've all wanted, and with Nintendo and Namco working on it, more is getting done than just one company alone. We're getting TWO versions of the game, each with unique stages and trophies, we're getting more options than ever before (tripping, outlines, minor stuff like that, but it could mean major options as well), we're getting more characters than before, and it just seems like everything is more, more, more. And I love it.

People say that a roster of 45 or 50 is too much or out of the question, but I don't. I think we're going to get a roster around 50 characters, due to the collaborative efforts of both companies. Heck, look at Street Fighter X Tekken. The game had 55 total characters in it. That's insane, but it worked.

I'm thinking that this game is going to be the best Smash game ever produced. Nintendo's side seems like they want to make it fun and enjoyable for all, and Namco's side seems like they want to ensure balance, skill, and appeal to the competitive level. With both companies working together, this is going to be a dream game.

And if Pac-Man gets in, it's going to be my ultimate dream game. Smash Bros. is my favorite fighting game of all time, hands down. Pac-Man is my favorite video game character of all time. It's a match made in heaven.

Totally well said, my friend! =). I totally trust in NAMCO Bandai for a very well made fighting game this time, with netcode, balance and all, .. and Sakurai for do his great tribute to the Nintendo's story that he does every generation of consoles; ... Smash4 for me is already surpassing my expectations, and I already can point that it could turn one of my favorite entries in the series! ... For now, I'm just missing a yellow, round, and glutton little guy with a simpatic smile =P; but for everything else, is already awesome enough, and is getting better and better!

(ps: when I first saw the vibrant colors of this game, abandoning those dead and realistic images from Brawl, the game instantly captivated me)

One thing we've already seen due to Namco's involvement is a richer variety of characters and movesets. This is the first game we see a dedication minion fighter, a character who uses projectiles on smashes and standards and someone like Villager that uses all props. It opens up the playing field for the most impossible sounding reps and that leaves the roster wide open for anything you can think up. The fact we have no SSE and Sakurai is focused on adding as many to the roster as possible, also makes me optimistic for a huge cast, diverse cast from all eras.

Hopefully the closeness of Namco and Nintendo helps Pac-Man see the light of day, though it'd make sense considering their extremely long history. The fact SSB4 is being co-developed alongside Namco is actually only a cliffnote on four decades of relations between the two publishers.

Someone posted this on the Megaman, Pac-Man, Sonic thread and I think it's a good question for all us Pac-Man fans:

How would you feel if Klonoa got in to Smash Bros. instead of Pac-Man?

Personally, I'd be upset, because I really want Pac to finally be put in a fighting game where he actually fights on his own, and because I'm a huge fan, but if any Namco rep got in other than Pac-Man, I think Klonoa would be the best for it. He's a better choice in my opinion than Lloyd or a Tekken character. What do you guys think?

Klonoa has a dedicated fanbase, I'd be happy for them and it wouldn't be a massive surprise if Sakurai was a Klonoa fan. However it'd definitely feel less deserving of a place than Pac-Man, that goes without saying I feel. Obviously I'd be disappointed, but I was OP of the Waluigi thread first before this one and I learnt that it's best to let things go. Klonoa would bring a lot of joy to a lot of fans, I'm happy that I was able to be a part of this thread that brought together fans of Pac-Man.

If it doesn't work out, it's not like we had any effect on the outcome. Sakurai already finalized the roster years ago. We're simply in for the ride. To be honest I'd be more interested in the reaction of other fans to this, it would come out of left field for nearly everyone.

I do like Klonoa (and the first game... well, maybe the GBA ones too); but this would be unfair as Snake's inclusion in Brawl, imo. I know all the story about Kojima and Sakurai being friends, etc, etc... but, c'mon,.. Goemon or even Sparkster would be way better inclusions for a Konami rep.. was so unfair.. or even Simon Belmont could fill the gap of a "realistic" character; ...
Well, but I trust that, if not Pac-Man, no other NAMCO character would be included; .. It's not only a thing about Sakurai wishes, NAMCO has to take advantage of the situation, and the best choice would be Pac-Man, due to the current marketing with the character; it's the perfect addition to the circumstances.

I'd be upset because I don't like Klonoa. I don't hate him, but I've never played his games, so to me, he'd just be some character I don't care about taking the spot of my most wanted character. It'd also feel extremely cheap of Namco to do something like that, ignoring their actual mascot for what is essentially a failed attempt at making a 64-bit era mascot. Klonoa may have the "mascot feel" to him, as he's purposefully designed to follow the design trend for mascots of the era he was born in, but that's the only reason he'd feel like he'd fit in. It's only an aesthetic thing, in my opinion. Pac-Man would feel much more at home; he may not look like Sonic, for example, but it's much easier to imagine the two appearing together because they're both closer to one another in terms in importance and recognition.

Klonoa even has Pac-Man on his hat. If he got into Smash instead, I'd constantly be reminded of how much I'd rather have gotten Pac-Man. It'd be like Mr. EAD getting in over Mario, and his Starman belt constantly reminding us that a better choice was looked over in favor of what we got.

If I HAD to pick a Namco rep that isn't Pac-Man, I'd rather have someone from Tekken or SoulCalibur, like Nightmare. Sure, the characters would stick out like a sore thumb, but so did Snake, and Tekken/SoulCalibur at least have enough mainstream success and popularity to be considered somewhat iconic.

I'd be happy for Klonoa fans, but if he got in, Pac's chances would forever be sealed, and since he's one of the only newcomers I really want to see, I hope it'd be understandable why I'd be disappointed.

I agree with everyone, just a fun thing to think about. Well.. maybe not fun. More upsetting than fun, haha.

But yeah, Pac-Man is my most wanted newcomer. All the other characters are cool and all, first or third party, and I'm still super excited for the new Smash Bros., but nothing, NOTHING will get me as excited as Pac-Man getting announced and included.

Klon--who? Pac-Man would be the only logical choice for a character.

But this would be unfair as Snake's inclusion in Brawl, imo. I know all the story about Kojima and Sakurai being friends, etc, etc... but, c'mon,.. Goemon or even Sparkster would be way better inclusions for a Konami rep.. was so unfair.. or even Simon Belmont could fill the gap of a "realistic" character;
I completely disagree. 3rd party reps should only go to the absolute most iconic characters of their respective companies. Not only is MGS a bigger franchise than Castlevania, but Simon isn't even the consistent main character unlike Snake. Snake IS Metal Gear Solid... and Metal Gear Solid IS Konami. Goemon and Sparkster wish they were as important to Konami as Snake is.

To be more on topic:
If Sakurai even considers Klonoa I have to wonder what's going on with his mental health. Pac-Man in the only choice for Namco.

@ Pacack Pacack

I was about to say the same thing. But really, adding Klonoa wouldn't be any different than adding Snake to a lot of people. Snake may be more "iconic", but to Nintendo gamers especially, Simon is far, far more recognizable and iconic. Additionally, it all depends on what Namco wants. I don't think Sakurai would ask for Klonoa (or anyone, really). We just have to hope that Namco has their head in the right place.

The problem with Simon is that he's only iconic for the first few games in the series. Unlike, Pac-Man, Sonic, Mega Man, Snake etc. Simon Belmont is not the consistent face of the Castlevania series. Also, as of late, I'd argue that due to Brawl, Snake has become more well known to Nintendo gamers than Simon.

So I came up with an interesting idea for Pac-Man. A sort of best-of-both-worlds scenario where Pac-Man can take a relatively modern design and mix it with the pie we know and love.
For Pac-Man's design, I like his Street Fighter x Tekken appearance best.

I like this design a lot. It keeps the Pac-Man shaped eyes and the no teeth routine. Just ditch the robot and we're good.
So I'm thinking that Pac-Man could take this design, or something resembling it, to Smash Bros and use that for running around and using aerials and smashes.
As for his specials, Pac-Man can contract his arms and legs into his body and become a ball with a face, essentially becoming a modern version of classic Pac. His standard special, Chomp (think Wario), is the only special move in his arsenal where he stays in his limbed form. My other special moves are as follows:
Side B: Waka Waka Waka
Pac-Man chomps forward a few times. It's good for quick damage but deals almost no knockback. This can also be used for a horizontal recovery.
Up B: Pac-Dot Trail
Many of you have heard of this or come up with it yourself. Pac-Man follows a small trail of pellets upward to recover. 3 dots going up, and one to the side that Pac is facing.
Down B: Pac-Bounce
Pac-Man bounces off the ground and flies high vertically. When done in air Pac falls down quickly and can bounce even higher.
All of these are performed while Pac-Man is in his condensed form, torso only. He can't fight in this form, he just takes it for his specials.
I imagine Pac-Man to be slightly taller than Kirby, only because his legs give him extra height.
Essentially my Pac-Man idea takes a great modern design and gives it a timeless moveset that is essentially Arcade Pac-Man.
We got something similar with Sonic (modern design, classic moveset) so I think it's very likely that Pac-Man goes in a similar direction.
Posted this in the Character Thread. I figured I should share here also.
I came up with an awesome trailer too.

So it starts with Kirby holding his precious strawberry shortcake. He's an 8-bit sprite, and he's in a black room with blue flooring (gee I wonder where it is). He hears a noise coming after him and Pac-Man's classic sprite appears. Kirby starts to run and Pac-Man follows, eager to get a piece of the cake. Kirby is eventually caught, and Pac-Man stops for a second. He grows arms and legs and starts to look more like his classic appearance, albeit still pixelated. He gives a thumbs up to the screen.
"Pac-Man Joins the Battle!"
They zoom back out and the trailer becomes CGI animated. Pac-Man and Kirby look angrily at each other and start to fight for the shortcake.
Gameplay of Pac-Man is shown.
In the end of the trailer, Kirby and Pac run past each other and glare backwards, suddenly startled by noises to the side of them. They look over to see Wario feasting on their beloved strawberry shortcake.

nowadays, due the treatment that Konami gave to the series, yes, Metal Gear can even be bigger than Castlevania, ... but in legacy? I doubt, ... Even both series being borned with a year of difference, Metal Gear recieved its recognition only on PSone... while the "Belmont Family", at least, were the most famous Konami characters at the time... We can still find people that never played a Metal Gear, but hardly we heard about someone that doesn't know about Castlevania.

Though, you're right about Goemon and Sparkster... sadly;... Konami should continue with them, they had potential (and Rocket Knight 2010 was okay); ... this doesn't affect the fact that they would fit much better in Smash than Snake, and would make more sense (Goemon starring a lot of exclusives in Nintendo platforms, and Sparkster having his few games there too).

If Sakurai even considers Klonoa I have to wonder what's going on with his mental health. Pac-Man in the only choice for Namco.
but this we can completely agree with no conflicts. XD

So guys, you heard about the Direct, right? Tuesday! We get new information Tuesday! Let's take a vote. :D

I'm fairly certain we're getting a character reveal on Tuesday, but what I don't know. Let's see what you guys think.

Are we getting:
A) A veteran reveal
B) A Nintendo newcomer reveal
C) A third-party newcomer reveal

I say gimme all of them! Ice Climbers, Shulk/Takamaru/Palutena/Chrom/Whoever and Snake please!

Seriously though, all I'm expecting is at least one newcomer. More character reveals, be it veterans or more newcomers, would be just icing on the cake. I still do think that our beloved Pac-Man will be saved for E3 though.

See, I'm actually a little conflicted. I figured they'd save Pac-Man for E3, yes, but this month starts Nintendo's fiscal year, and they're probably going to want to start with something big. For me, that big thing would be revealing Pac-Man, but I know he's not as popular with everyone, so I figured they'd reveal someone who would generate more hype. But who? That's where I get stumped. Ridley? Chrom? Mewtwo? Tuesday can't come fast enough!

I say save Pac for E3, and reveal K. Rool or Ridley on Tuesday to get the hype storm out of the way so people aren't too hopeful or hopeless about E3.

I'm expecting Palutena or a Fire Emblem character though, so I'm still more hyped for E3.
