Just a little something I found out but could use some confirmation, Z-Dropping fruit against the hydrant doesn't work if the opponent picked up the item, and dropped it via your own attacks. Tried it in a CPU battle against Greninja, where this exact thing happened, and the key didn't even knock the hydrant away.

EDIT: Basically, what happened.

- Bonus Fruit was charged up.
- Key was thrown at Level 8 Custom Greninja. Level 9 is just too robotic for me.
- Greninja grabbed the Key.
- Attacked Greninja to the point that he dropped the key.
- Picked the Key up, summoning a Hydrant and using the grab button on the controller to Z-Drop the Key.
- Key bounces onto hydrant, nothing happens.

What do you guys think of Yooka-Laylee?

I'm awfully excited, considering how much I love the 3D Platformer/Collectathon genre. Pac-Man World 2 is a huge game from my childhood, and if this game has half the quality of that, then it'll already be a contender for my favorite games list.

Not gonna lie, it's tempting to blow $55 for that improved sandbox.

The game looks great so far.

I'll be splitting the money for the console version with my brother so I have enough money to spend on Pac-Man, Robin, and Lucina amiibo preorders. But I'm super excited about the game. And I have so much faith in the devs that are at Playtonic.

Really excited for it. The world needs more collectathons.

Eeh, it feels like it depends on Banjo nostalgia to score and since I skipped the complete 64 era it just doesn't click with me.

(No worries, I played SM64DS and OoT3D)
I was born after the 64 era and the game still excites me simply because the genre's interesting and because the developers are dependable. Have you never played a game that's main drawing point was the number of things to collect?

Also, don't let yourself fall prey to subconsciously avoiding what's popular. I know that people may be overhyping it at the moment, but it's just because it's genuinely exciting for a lot of people. Mainstream doesn't always mean bad. Nintendo itself is also mainstream if you're being honest to yourself.

No, Maybe Madagascar for XBox or the Blue Coins from Sunshine, but otherwise no.

And it doesn't click because only the characters were shown off and the fact it's Banjo Threeie.
Since I've never played a collect-a-thon, what's left to excite me are the character designs and while they're good, I'm not hyped for the game.

Not because I want to hate nostalgia.

That's more than understandable. Wait until more of the game is showed off and, I don't know, maybe you'll like it more when you see the finished product?

I KNOW, RIGHT! IT'S BASICALLY A GAME THAT YOU'RE MEANT TO EXPLORE EVERYTHING WITHOUT BOUNDS AND IT'S SO AWESOME BECAUSE YOU'RE REWARDED FOR THE EXPLORATION INSTEAD OF PUNISHED FOR IT
I didn't like OoT, because there was nothing outside of the marvelous temples.
I mean, you've defeated Ganon and now you can hunt for beeps and rumbles in the hope of a Rupee.

The amount of characters also excites me.
Again, with OoT, there weren't a lot of villages to visit. (Except for Cuccoo flying Rico Village).
And half of them were abandoned when playing Adult Link.

I automatically love games when you can fly or jump high and this one blows everything away.

I agree. It's the same reason that I'm cautiously optimistic about Zelda U. It seems like roaming is going to be rewarded more, as opposed to Ocarina of Time, which just faked the sense of a large world with the limited hardware of its time.

Are you a bit more excited for the game now? :b:

I just remembered this isn't the first time Pac-Man has been in a (if you consider Smash one) fighting game.

Man I remember playing this monstrosity.

I mained Pac-Man in SFxT, too. I was awful then...and I still am now.

IT WAS MEANT TO BE

Made me mad that some people wanted that to be his final smash lol

Been thinking of getting Splatoon, which is going to come out within less that 4 weeks for me.
I'm honestly just a bit worried about how the online is going to turn out (at least it was confirmed to have no voice chat, which means no twelve year old kids ruining your day with their screaming), considering Nintendo has never been that good with online multiplayer and is more local orientated instead.
If the game doesn't end up having good multiplayer servers that don't lag too often, then I guess the game would most likely be a missed opportunity - what Nintendo are doing here is trying to make something innovative in a tired game genre, and they should know that multiplayer is the main course of a shooting game. Stuff it up and it's just not as good as it should be.

I don't think they'd hype up the multiplayer without putting serious effort into it. In nearly everything
they've shown us multiplayer has been at the forefront, with the campaign being secondary.

Plus, this is the kind of game that's easier to avoid lag with compared to a fighter like Smash.
You're only dependent on one guy's connection. And Mario Kart 8 worked out pretty well, didn't it?

You're kidding. They want THAT monstrosity to be his final smash?

Good grief, he was awful in SFxT. That whole game was awful, no wonder the FGC dropped it like a stone the second it came out.

Even worse was the argument for it.
"It would be sooo unexpected!!"
Doesn't mean it would be a good idea
You know what else would be unexpected? If Mario got on a Kart and started chucking items everywhere.

But it's not a good idea anyway.

Just wanted to share this 'round, posted this as a spoiler because of how dang big it was outside of spoilers.

Freaky Fruit is silly. Really silly.

I can't say how many times I've gotten KOs with the Strawberry > Usmash setup. While I still prefer regular Bonus Fruit any day, Freaky Fruit is probably my favorite alternative just because of how unique you can set up things. Dash Attack > Freaky Key is a AMAZING setup, even if it is piss-easy to dodge. Strawberry is so satisfying to land, since you can lead up with almost anything. I have yet to get that Strawberry > Hydrant > Usmash KO though. When I do it'll be AMAZING.

NEED FOR SPEED: ORANGE EDITION

Yo guys, I'm thinking of dropping Pac. Maybe.

I just feel like I have to work way too hard to get anything done with him. I have to put in a lot more effort than I do with almost every other character, and I struggle both to get an advantage and to keep it, no matter how far ahead I am in the match.

What I noticed is I don't really know what to do on the spot. I'm sometimes overwhelmed by his options, and I can't decide on the optimal thing to go for. I end up ****ing up and giving free things to the opponent (positional advantage, punish, hydrant/fruit, damage, etc). This happens more than it should. After the battle I clearly see where I go wrong, but I find it hard to fix and not repeat my mistakes in other battles for some reason.

I think it's because of multiple things: Pac's ''weird'' gameplay (I get punished too much because I overestimate what he can do), my general lack of experience in the game (true for every character, but it doesn't help), and my lack of experience with Pac himself (since he's a secondary and I use him less than others). I probably just need to play with him more, but as I said, I don't seem to get anywhere with him and it kinda makes me want to drop him.

I used to main Villager on the 3DS, and still use him the most right now, but my pocket Fox is getting better and better, and I'm starting to really like as well as do decently with Ness and Luigi. In the meantime, my Pac is stagnating.

I know that the feeling of reaching a plateau and not progressing happens to a lot of (if not all) smash players at one point, but it seems to be a lot stronger for Pac than other characters.

On a side note, Pac is the only character whose forums I actively participate in, because I think he's by far the most interesting character in the game (both the moveset and the character himself), he's the character I enjoy the most even if I'm not that good with him, and I don't think he has the attention he deserves in the smash community. These three things are what makes me hesitate to just let him go.

I'll probably just keep him as either a side character I use for fun, or as a secondary/pocket character (tertiary?) for certain MUs, if I don't find the motivation to invest more efforts in him. Or I'll get back to him when I get better at this game. My Pac got Fox Ooh Aah'd.

Is/was anyone here in a similar situation?
