If there is a basic brawl, I think there is the chance of an "advanced" brawl. Of course I am just speculating, but still, in everyones eyes this is supposed to be THE best game of nintendo so far, and the "with anyone" feature seems to be bery crappy and empty, like it needs something else, I mean imagine being a little kid(assuming this is the main audience targeted by nintendo) who knows nothing about competetive playing and has never been to a forum before. he has very few friends with wich he can actually play online(liek 1 lawlz). most likely he would be playing "with anyone" most of the time. and most likely he would get bored of playing online because of how... well because of how lame it is.

what I mean is even in the eyes of this audience, the online would look... bad.

that is why I think there is bound to be something else. I dont think nintendo is that stupid/stubborn

The beauty of this function is, aside from less bickering, that you really don't know what you're going to get when going into it.

Also, I think it's necessary to take into consideration the disconnect function where the computer AI takes over. I'm certain (unless they use a FAR superior and versatile AI to Brawl's predecessors) that once the computer takes over for a person, the battle mannerisms of the computer will be easily distinguishable, which will make the fight less real, but the degree of anonymity that this mode will provide is still, in and of itself, a beautiful thing.

I suppose that all I'm trying to say is that while structure is necessary for decisive fights, too much structure can be detrimental to the entertainment value. The most important thing to remember is that no one is forcing anyone to use this mode. You can either take it or leave it.

I'd like to imagine that they'll be introducing a competitive system... sorry if this has been pointed out before.

There will also be no battle records kept for this mode, so whether you win or lose, it doesn’t matter. - from the "Battle with Anyone" page

I mean, from that quote, there's the possibility that they'll be introducing a competitive play system. Think about it... SSBB is definitely one of the most, if not is, the most anticipated game coming out for the Wii system. I myself, played Melee like twice in my life (sorry, I never had a GC nor is there a large fan base where I live), and I'm absolutely stoked for competitive play for Brawl. If it were up to me, I'd want to make it the greatest game in the world for years to come, like Sakurai said. It just doesn't make any sense why they would implement a battle-online system without leaderboards, rankings, names, whatever... for such an anticipated game. ESPECIALLY, since they DID in fact, create leaderboards, rankings, names, rated matches, etc... for Mario Strikers: Charged. So, if they created the system from Strikers, there's little doubt in my mind they'll do it for Brawl too.

It's just all speculation, though. I hope I'm right :(
