it matters b/c its a large weakness not being able to fight a girl if your life is on the line. what if they met a all female crew he would be useless.

Fairy Tail is one of the worst written mangas ever.

Fairy Tail is not the best manga, but it beats most of the mangas out right now, plus it gives me a One Piece vibe.

-_- fairy tail is really quite bad, it's a poor man's one piece, and will always be seen as such. All of the characters are rather difficult to relate to except Lucy, the story arcs are joined together without any real substance, there isn't any real emotional depth past Natsu saying I MUST SAVE HER BECAUSE I AM TYPICAL SHOUNEN PROTAGONIST

Compare it to other recent shounen manga, like negima, hitman reborn, even pseudo shounens like that medaka box *thing* or overhyped stuff like naruto and it doesn't really compare favourably.

One Piece on the other hand is just amazing.

Don't get me wrong, it still kept me hooked...except I didn't get hooked for plot reasons, or any of the reasons I like to get hooked for. I didn't look forward to anything in particular, I keep reading it because I don't quit when I'm 200 chapters in.

I should've phrased it better: good in chunks, partially deserving of its fanbase, but fails to deliver in some important aspects. It does attempt to explain why there's not too much to link one story arc with the next, but that's not much compensation.

I agree with cheeseball.

but the main thing that ticks me off (not many people do this) is when someone say

"i dropped one piece and started reading fairy tail & its better"
but if you read both to its fullest & still think Fairy Tail is better i guess theres nothing i can say, it just gets me mad when someone trys to substitute OP for FT

its a bad thing when someone try to use it as a one piece substitute and then say its better than one piece after dropping it after a few chapters.
but whether it being good or not is up to you. i dont like it to much personally but it have it good chapters from time to time

OP is like a train, it takes a bit in the beginning to get started, slowly accelerating, but eventually it gains insane momentum.

Fairy Tail annoys me because problems arise and are solved seamlessly. I have never once felt real urgency while reading Fairy Tail. Fights end within chapters and characters can't be taken seriously. But yeah, like Cheeseball said, it would feel weird ending now that I'm already so far in.

That one cat is like, "Oh btw I can see the future now lol" and I'm like "ugh, really?"

Natsu's search for Igneel is the only thing it has going for it, but they don't mention it often.

Yeah, I don't really get it. I am an very impatient person, but I can deal with waiting for the actual chapter to come out.

I've only maybe looked at spoilers once (only because Virgilijus linked it ). I learned to not make that same mistake again...
But yeah, I find it fun to not read any of the spoilers. The chapters feel short enough, and reading what the chapter was about in a paragraph ruins the impact, IMO.

I don't think it is. We still have a lot more to go before it ends, I think. The story is past halfway, but I'm sure we have a lot more arcs before OP ends.

It's really going to suck if all Luffy's learned by the end of the 2 years timeskip is mastering his Haki. It's really going to suck if the Thousand Sunny hasn't received any upgrades.

but one piece won't do that, luffy got by on grit, ingenuity (gomu gomu baka :D) and willpower before gears 2+3, then he gets the intimidator haki, and now he gets haki training

oda could easily have placed a godly character in impel down or amazon lily who could train luffy to become twice as powerful at that point, but he chose not to in order to emphasise how weak luffy was, and good on him for it
