From my point of view, you need more MU exp. Watch some Sonic MU against other players and try to see the habits. All of them tends to do same things because it's the way they have to approach to us.
Also watch some fights from Myran Myran he has (in my opinion) a great tactic against Sonic.

But I strongly recommend with urgency to start fast falling EVERY TIME. You spend so much time in the air, which is the worst thing for us. Watch your replay and see how many seconds you stay at the air, it's way down too much D:.

Against ZSS's Up B? DI towards and up to her. If she catch up your DI, you will have to switch it.
Do more pivot smash, it may be "safer" than pivot grab.
Fight Gunshot with Fsmash, it will never fail and she will always get hit by the pikmin if she run to grab. You will force her to start short hop + nair, when she start doing it so, you will have less options to fight that.

In fact, I have 2 or 3 fights against ZSS that may help you out. I will upload them today at night probably.

I'm sorry for the double post but... I needed it.
This is a sad new for me, because once again I lost against my nemesis. Just achieving 2nd place all the time against him u.u.

Here you can see the winner finals (lose) -> loser finals (win) -> grand finals (lose)

https://secure.twitch.tv/madgeartv/v/56766982?t=03h05m13s
3:07:00 winner final Me (Olimar, Sheik) vs Piña (Sheik, Villager)

3:32:00 loser final Me (Olimar) vs Balor (Mario, Cloud)

3:51:05 grand final Me (Sheik, Olimar) vs Piña (Villager, Sheik)

I already know I have a serious problem with rolling all the time. It's a stupid behave I have been trying to change since the first time I lose against him, a long time ago.

The reason why I used Sheik it was because I'm sick of losing against her... so I thought I could have a chance, but definitely I'm lost.

By the way, please, PLEASE, be rude on criticize me. I really need to take this $%/&% out of me and finally be able to defeat that sheik.

Edited 1: calling my fellows for help: @-The Gucci Fairy- Myran Myran Angbad Angbad @Blue Banana @AncientBaby @Freezie KO @NotAsian if I forgot someone, please forgive me XD.
Note: This is not exclusive, anyone can give me your thoughts so I can improve my game.

I need criticism on this match if anyone can help me out
https://youtu.be/bYnWsHTKxBM
I will be adding things to this post through the day.

First, you NEED to have this list with you: % Blue Uthrow Kill

Ok, he won because he caught your habits. You run and shield almost every time, even when you are in the opposite direction.
You need to punish according to your enemy DI from Dthrow, you missed SO MANY attacks because of that.
Try to mix up your get up, you spend too much time with shield waiting for Cap. Falcon.
You can hit Cap. Falcon with Uair before his Dair, but only do that ON the stage.
Keep working on those pivot grab/smash, they are absolutely necessary.

Instead of doing blue up throw too early is it fine if I do it at 160 if I don't know when it begins to kill or just so I won't focus on getting a grab?

I can pivot grab/smash, but it's just that it's hard for me to do in tournament. I'll work on that during friendlies.

I gave you the list with the %.

You have to train that EVERY time, until you do it perfectly.

I want to share with you guys this videos with the legend: NEVER GIVE UP.
Even when I had so much luck with these fights, you never have to give up, because some weird things like this happens some times.

Hey, Olibros. Its been a long time since I've posted on this forum because I've been busy with school and things and haven't been able to travel much at all since genesis. I only just recently have had fresh matches that I want to put up for critique and advice.

The Audio has a faint echo but it's manageable, I promise.
vs Stark (:4cloud2:) https://youtu.be/aJbQJrWYY2E?t=11419 (3:10:20)

vs NME | Zex (:4sheik:) https://youtu.be/aJbQJrWYY2E?t=15071 (4:11:10)

[another] vs Stark (:4cloud2:) https://youtu.be/aJbQJrWYY2E?t=15740 (4:22:20)

I think a lot of my mistakes came with too much aggression when I had strong stage control and could've easily played the long game. Let me know what you all think, and thanks. I'm really looking forward performing as well as I can at EVO this year.

Only had time to watch the cloud ones so I'll comment on those. Seemed like your two biggest issues were landing once being juggled, and trying to challenge him at the wrong times. Landing vs cloud can be difficult, you could try drifting to the ledge to airdodge past stage and recover. Yeah it does put you on the ledge, but there's not landing lag. There's also saving jump/using up-b to juke an aerial than falling past with a nair or something. Even whistling more could be useful, although his uair is amazing so it won't do to much for that.

As for the challenging Cloud part that's kinda hard. Try to really calculate your approaches, and Pikmin throws. He's a fast character with amazing range and hurtboxes, and can easily punish you for overextending. Slow it down when in neutral or mid range, then pick it up once the openings present themselves so that you're controlling the pace. Yeah a lot of Cloud players do camp to get limit, but just try to grab the percent lead earlier on so they have to approach. If you're trying to punish their limit charge (especially on platforms) try to read their option. Use your own movement to predict their most likely option so that you can punish, and do safe moves to scare them into falling into something unsafe.

Call me crazy or noob, but I think Cloud should be Gimped every time he is off stage, the purple toss is the safest attemp.
Either with a fake gimp and an air dodge or at least a fair or dair. That will force him to make a decision, if he dodge he may not grab the ledge, and if he hits you, he may not grab the ledge.
Even though if he doesn't react to your gimp or fake gimp, you can always do a Bair.

I'm telling you this because I have been trying and surprisingly it works every time you have the lead. When Cloud has one stock ahead, he can press the B button again to catch you with a spike and suicide, but it doesn't matter because you MAY save your stock if you are lucky enough.

At least an edge trump may work as well because no one expect that from Olimar. I do it and usually caught them off guard.

Here's the past broadcast of my weekly last night. Just wanted to share because I felt Winners Finals and Grands show how fast paced the MU can get and how I feel it should be played. Definitely worth taking a watch if you're looking to learn the Mario MU. There's also games of me littered here and there through the the vod if you wanna look for those too.

BTW I'm on mobile so I don't have timestamps

Hey guys, once again I failed to place 1st at the tournament at the city. Once again I'm 2nd after the Sheik player.
A lot of things happened at this tournament and I didn't felt I was at my 100% but I don't want it to sound like johns, so I will not say anymore about that.

I know I made tons of mistakes, roll way too much, my fingers were dumb at pivot smash and grab, lot of things didn't come out when I pressed and damn... a lot more of excuses. I think I didn't play bad the winners final but some mistakes decided the whole match.
At grand final my performance was awful. So if you guys can break me out so I can fix myself, I will really appreciate.
Thank you.

2nd place means you were only a couple mistakes from first. Good job, and I'm sure you'll get it soon!

I'll check out the videos if I can get to a computer soon.

Got 9th out of 42 entries on sunday at a tournament in NY. I seem to be having slight trouble with this MU, mainly recovering from the ledge. Any advice guys?

That was a good fight.
You have the same issue than me, rolling too much so our opponent easily detect our behave.
But imo you did a good fight.

The main thing I can see is you are not edge guarding, so Lucario doesn't have any problem on getting back to the stage.
Also you get caught a few times on the edge trap of Lucario. I'm not quite sure if it will work because I don't have plenty knowledge against Lucario, but you can try one of these:
  • Release the edge with down directional and then jump immediately with Upair.
  • Release the edge with opponent directional to the stage, then jump and try a Fair.
    • If you are at Smashville, you can use the moving platform to land over there.
  • Release the edge with down directional and them jump immediately with a Nair to the stage.

Do you want match specific advice, overall olimar advice, or lucario specific advice
I played the same Lucario again last week and lost 2-1, however the matches were much tighter. I ended up dying by a rage back air at 40% near the ledge. So match up specific experience would suffice.

Glad to hear/read that boy, keep improving. Don't drop the character :D.

You are basing too much your game into the grab setups. Try to throw more pikmin, sometimes you are standing there waiting. Isn't bad but it would be better if you standing there watching your pikmin build some tiny but constant damage.
I think you need to be more annoying playing with Olimar and don't get close too often if you don't really need it.
Be really careful on your habit of pluck and run, because you are letting back your recently plucked pikmin when you do that and it may lead to unwanted results.

A good move when you have enough space is to Pluck + Side B. That way you will regain control of your line faster and you will put some pressure by throwing pikmin. If your enemy come closer, just whistle and be prepared.
Remember you can Pluck + Fsmash almost instantly too.

Don't be afraid of Side B pikmins in to their doom, they are infinite and they are committed to sacrifice for you :D. Just take care of those who are util against the situation you are facing.
Your opponent it's at grab kill %? Save those blue.
Your opponent it's pressuring you heavily? Save those purples.

If you are confident enough and you catch your enemy habits, go there and try some gimps. Or at least put some pressure on their recovery, they are doing it without any kind of danger from you.

Try to not land above your enemy too often neither because it may be a dangerous move, instead try to reset the neutral where you can spam your pikmin, looking to "farm" a Purple and you can put pressure on your opponent again.

Think on Olimar as a character who forces your opponent's approaches. With that, you have to pay attention when the tide of the battle changes. When to push your enemy and when to retreat are crucial things playing with Olimar.

I've been using Olimar since 09' in Brawl lol, that won't be happening. Pluck > fsmash sounds like a good idea, probably will use it on cloud since he's always on my back. As far as Pikmin farming I need to be even more conscious of it, I think it will really help my game. I already play solid dealing with the hand I was dealt so to speak, but I think pikmin filtering more is def good advice.

Here's grands at one of my weeklys. I almost lose the entire thing from winners but am able to clutch it out. I like this set because Akashic is a good friend who I've been playing with for years so he knows the ins and outs of my playstyle, and it really forces me to change my playstyle up as the set progresses.
